bond6191: Runescape can only survive if mtx is removed. Let me pay money for ability overrides. But don't make me gamble for it.
JessiiXD: I normally never comment on your videos, I just leave a like after watching and move on, but I just wanted to say: never apologize for making this kind of video. There aren't many content creators with the kind of reach you have on RS3 to help get the word out, and it’s very important that people know this is happening. The more people that see this and give their feedback, the better. Thanks for sticking with RS3 for all these years, despite it not always being the easiest thing to do — we appreciate everything you do for the community.
TheSocialFaker: The treasure Hunter disabled prompt made me smile, but then my smile immediately went away after logging in and getting an immediate pop up to buy stars. Like wtf was that? XD
iFINNIX: I do think that for some players, leveling faster because of all the mtx related stuff sometimes makes them get burned out faster. They will get leveling done for something and then feel like "now what?"
anthonyspangler3509: I love RS3 but it feels like that family member that you gotta love from a distance at this point.
Puyo1: Great video, and I agree with almost every point you make. I do want to point out, though, that bonus XP is still skipping gameplay and it still harms the economy. Sure, you do have to actually play the game to make use of your bonus XP, but to go back to your Prayer example - 100k bonus Prayer XP is still 100k XP's worth of bones that you don't need to interact with. If some players need a faster way to progress, then in my opinion, this should be solved with actual content rather than the ability to pay to not play the game. When the game is engaging and fun to play, everyone wins.
somedude4727: As a new player to RS3 all I can say is you guys don't care about new players. How much dead content is there? I need 15 web pages open to start a skill. Oh, i'm sorry, I can level my skills faster to 99 ? Well, it goes to 120 and no one helps, no one talks to me, every youtube guide to help assumes i've 20 years of knowledge and time put in so i have every item, there's a billion quests I need, I need billions of gold, non revo bars feel AWFUL and abilities are locked behind having tons of gold or some quest. There is an incredibly overwhelming amount of information thrown at you for ANYTHING you go to do when you look up how to do it. Don't even get me started on achievements where you have to join a clan to get some done because if it's not a spotlight minigame no one is playing it. Oh yeah, castle wars is a spot lightt minigame let me go play that I can do this achievement to win a round. NOPE. Everyone is just leeching currency and not moving. I got so frustrated last week I said fine, i'll go do slayer what's my task? Camel warriors. Oh it's been a while i'll look it up, next thing I know 10 webpages and 2 youtube videos later i'm trying to earn respect or whatever it is with the workshop so I can buy the auto reloader to auto reload my cannon which I was told had to be a dragon one and that cost me 40m, now the guy in the youtube video i'm watching to learn about how to get respect is saying things are cheap while he has 14b in his gold pouch. This is my experience with EVERYTHING I look up. I get so overwhelmed I close the game out and play something else sometimes. As if having to do 20 years of quest isn't overwhelming enough. How the hell does a person even address the quest log, seriously.. Your videos always make me want to play but when I get in and hit these points, I close the game. MTX is the LAST concern I have with this game and people who've been playing and know everything, being upset I have a little help with skills for the millions of requirements I need to meet, I can't care less than I do now about it. Sorry for the book, you guys just have no idea what it's like and seeing the outrage on behalf of " new and returning players " is nonsense.
MedMateus: the only way to save runescape is if jagex was employee owned, as long as the company keeps getting passed on between greedy owners this game won't flourish
MuwuRS: Hey Ryan, I was a trimmed completionist, Blue Partyhat haver, frontpage clues rs3 guy, I loved this game, but sadly I truly believe the MTX damage is beyond repair.
A company can't sell exp, absolutely tarnish all visual progression with so many yak-track and paid cosmetics for over a decade and when profits decline go "oops, guys, we milked all we could, we'll now dial back" and pretend nothing ever happened, exp will never mean anything again, all the gp and armors alongside it, it's a genie out of the bottle situation, and sadly there's no going back, despite how much I loved this game, real world suits that only cared for a quick flip have irreparably damaged it, that's just the cold, hard truth, no matter how much I and everyone else wish it wasn't the case.
benzloeb: While the star packs and knowledge bomb packs don't prevent people from interacting with the economy they reduce it. I wish instead they gave people something that let them process resources faster, so they use the same amount of resources but save time for people who don't have as much time to play daily.
Zenix7500: While optimistic, its laughable that they claim to need an experiment to see what an MTX-free game would look like when they also run literally the poster child of an MTX-free MMORPG called OSRS.
purpleraikou: cautiously optimistic that it's the beginning of a new era
rollipeikkors: (I should add that my rant is more so abt full on skipping, i feel just bxp can be fine since u still need to interact, just not full on skip) As fairly experienced mobile gamer when im away from home, rs3 has so many elements that i see in cash grab mobile games, all in bad ways. Game gives u a "powerfantasy" early on for how fast you are progressing without ever giving a reason to learn the game, and as u keep progressing fast, eventually it starts slowing down and since u are conditioned to fast progression, that feels bad so u are inclined to start spending money to maintain that sense of speed to nowhere. And then eventually u hit the late game, at no point were u expected to need to learn the game, u sped up through the "getting used to" grinds so now u hit a seemingly impassable wall cuz u actually have to spend time to progress. And then pvm as a whole, u skipped the early bosses that teach u the basics of pvm, but u feel like u are at the endgame so you should be doing endgame bosses and u just keep planking cuz u have no idea what you are doing and you have no idea how you should go abt learning, since u now all of a sudden have so much available to you.
And all of those are things, that u could say abt how every mobile game works nowadays, fast early progress to get you hooked, "unskilled" gameplay where you are never expected to actually learn anything meaningful and just overlevel through everything, slowed down progress to just praying on the hook to get you spend money.
I absolutely hate the speed at which you get boosted through the very early game as a main account, when that is the best time to actually learn and understand the game.
Daltonownzyoulol: title should say "gambling" not microtransactions, replacing mtx with a slightly better mtx, is still mtx
dongurudebro4579: If mtx stays there will be another game that completely takes over and eradicates rs3 with sheer innovation and quality over pure cooperate short-term greed. It always happens that way in every Industrie ever.
A few examples are train & horse companies vs airplanes & cars', IBM & Xerox vs Microsoft & Apple & NVIDIA, Blockbuster vs Netflix, Yahoo vs Google etc. etc.
Jagex is just lucky enough that this game stems out of it's own production, to no fault of their own.
IMO a complete elimantion of mtx in favor of better gameplay, from very early to late game, must be the long term goal.
While Stars and knowledge bombs are a step into the right direction they still hurt the game and econmy substantially as they litterally remove the need for half of all items activities and time required - with other additional xp buffs even more.
What they obviously completely fail to recognize is that it still kills the game and yields them less profit long term *facepalm*.
people who do not engage in the game are obviously less invested and even if they want to max out everything they will just pay half for what they would have paid in subscription fees otherwise and there's less of a chance that they'll create a new account or buy cosmetitics in the long run; especially as skipping stuff essentially means skip learning stuff in the most part.
alex-mg3ol: jagex was onto something with archaeology xp tomes. they require you to do the skill and you cant bank them. adding this type of item to skills could be a cool idea.
Zenix7500: The only way out for RS3 is to copy OSRS and remove all MTX. All bonus xp, all overrides, everything.
Character progression is the core driver of why OSRS is so popular. XP and visual progression is a part of this.
aggroknight4259: OG Runescape community in 2012: "Adapt or quit."
"OG" Runescape community in 2025: "We need your help to keep our version of the game from dying."
auzz95: i used to love rs3, but it’s not only mtx that’s killing the game. lazy developers doing nothing interesting or developing anything the community actually wants drove me to osrs. 110 skills with one log to cut…? so lazy and uninspiring just to waste my time. Another group boss in a game everyone hates grouping? does jagex employees even know their game? like at all?
griffotubes: I really hope we see a day in the next 5 years where we see 500,000 online at once, this is the first step of a very bumpy and rocky road to get back on track :)
HzEscape: I was addicted to MTX back in covid times, spent at least 3000$ on keys and lamps. Got tired of it, i stopped playing the real game because i could have everything fast and with no effort, i got many 99s without even knowing how to properly level up the skill, put money, get the xp. That was a good dopamine hit. Once i got what i wanted, i lost that envy to play the game, when things comes easy with no effort you lose all interest. So i stopped playing for a year or 2, then i came back with a new Ironman account. Been playing the game properly and trust me, best Runescape experience iv ever had in 20years. The only good way to play RS is by playing and ironman. Or at least, try to controle yourself and dont buy any XP.
ThePSNinjas: As one of, if not the biggest RS3 creators your voice is more important than ever. I would love it if some OSRS creators brought attention to this too. Time for us to bridge the gap make RS what it truly can be. Stay Tall Scapers.
michelhickey5765: tbh, if microtransaction bad -> ironman
could you please introduce a "clan man mode" where you are in your own economy for up to 500 players?
C0ACHMAYNE: Bring back FREE Vic the Trader!
jamietrudeau4069: The green Santa hat fiasco is why I quit. I'm actually thankful.
itsdandy98: RS Guy is Outside , This is Very serious ! ! !
