SUBCHVRGE: My favorite part of Rocket League content for the last couple of years has been all the high ranked content creators who are talking about how smurfing isn't that big of a problem, when none of them are playing in the lower ranked lobbies where it IS a problem. This game is cooked beyond belief in that regard, and Epic/Psyonix will never fix it because it's just adding constant players to their player base, and "more players = game successful" lmao

TheHiddenOne690: There's way too many smurfs in the game now and it's impossible to rank up higher. I'm currently 1550 and I kid you not, every 1 in 3 games is against a smurf or a team of smurfs. Worst thing is they're literal kids so they're cracked out of their mind, meanwhile my boomer age can't keep up with how fast they are

rjwhitekck: I've been a vet of this game for almost 10 years. I've never seen rocket league in such a worse state than it is now. Every 3 months or so, I launch it up, play a few games and quit because of the highest levels of toxicities that go on now. The game is pretty much ruined at this point.

96Deadeye: For some reason I got really happy, when Sunless said he plays this game daily. I mean I don't anymore, but that probably means he is enjoying the game without hustling for content, while still entertaining us every now and then.

saxxonpike: It sure feels like administrators/moderators for the game have thinned out substantially since I started playing a couple years ago. I remain hopeful that they're still taking action on players actively ruining the game, but I can only hold my breath for so long. Still, the ups of playing this game with good friends often beat the downs of facing off against all the bad actors we see every night.

JZferda: I’ve had chat turned off for the past year or so and my experience has been way more enjoyable. It still has that satisfying/addicting/competitive feel just without the toxicity, and I’m never turning back. No need to derive my social connectivity from rocket league quick chat (no judgement of course).

micahhollingsworth: I honestly really love your point you made about how you think often times people think theyre facing smurfs and complain about it but are actually just facing people who have played the game for many years but dont play frequently enough to rank up anymore due to IRL responsibilities or whatever, because thats me. I only get on the game these days to play with my lower ranked buddies for a couple hours once a week/2 weeks. My account is as old as the game. I use to be champ 3. Took a 3 year break from the game when i went out and travelled for a while. And my rank dropped so drastically that im down in the plat 2-d1 ranks. I play with my buds occasionally and get called a smurf constantly. My buds have a lower skill and i have a much higher skill, so our rank kinda averages out around d1-d2 ish, and we cant climb much higher than that unless i sweat super hard and hard carry 1v3, which i never care enough to do. I think people who spend all day on this game forget how many of us are out there in my scenario

Diamond is the rank where no one playing is actually that rank.

It's a coin toss between boosted plats and GC players, and your own performance feels more like spectating a hard carry vs hard carry.
