GooberLeague: It's not a Rocket league killer. Rocket League killed itself
GabeWilliams: I don’t want anything to ‘kill’ rocket league, but would love some competition to wake psyonix up a little
BFMert: Yeah polishness of Rocket league is something we never appriciate enough actually, even little stutter would be so annoying to deal with on rocket league, its pretty well done
eman4ever28: Remember, rocket league when it first came out had a ton of network issues, they even gave an antenna with the bad network symbol after things were resolved. Same thing with game modes, rocket league was barebones as well on release. This game is new, give it time guys. Glad you enjoyed it though, see you on the field!
Tsjes: - always a good day when sunless uploads
- great and funny vid
u3434-b4v: It’s not a RL killer, but it is a fun addition to the football game experience. My favorite thing about rematch is how it augments the skills and awareness of RL players. My friends who never passed (save for the “push the ball along the back wall in front of enemy net”) are now keeping their eyes up looking for passes to send forward. Rematch also forces you to control the ball, you can’t just do the champ tennis of bombing it back and forth until it goes in a net. Rematch is a fun game that could help break some really bad RL habits, and if it scares epic enough that they get their act together, I’m here for it.
Jumzyboi: other people: it's rocket league with no cars!
me:isn't that just football?
(I just realised sunless immediately said that
VoidLantadd: The real question is what is the skill ceiling? The fact that you can just pick it up and not look like an idiot in your first few hours tells me there isn't as much of a learning curve as rocket league.
TurboZo: unc's rent is due again
TommyGee.: i think the $30 tag will stop it from taking over
FROSTIXA: RL in 2015 launched for $20 (same as Rematch today when accounting for inflation), and had none of the things listed at the end of video at that time. Yet everyone got hooked and the game evolved over time. Unfortunately RL killed itself so Rematch had the perfect opportunity to fill some of its void for those of us itching for a breath of fresh air.
itsthekweebeeway4814: Why does every game have to “kill” another game because the exact line, “you don’t realize how polished Rocket league is until you play this game” yeah… didn’t this just come out? It’s using innovative, new systems to compete against a game like FIFA, not an arcade-y, WAY LESS accessible game like Rocket League.
TDevelop: Rematch's passing plays are actually so satisfying just like in rocket league. It has the potential to be a great game
TheBrownbear68: It’s apparent that many current players may not have experienced Rocket League at its initial launch in 2015. At the time, it was priced at $20 and offered a very minimal experience. just a single game mode with 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 options. It lacked crossplay for quite a while and had its fair share of server issues. In many ways, the complaints we’re seeing today mirror those from back then. Rematch may not be a Rocket League replacement, but it brings much-needed competition to a genre that’s been stagnant for some time. Given the state of the game and the size of the development team, there’s real potential here. I’ve spent around 40 hours with early access this week, and overall, I’m very pleased with the launch. While I’ve encountered a few bugs, the future looks promising. The developers have been highly engaged on Discord, sharing frequent patch notes and actively addressing player feedback. For a small team, their transparency and responsiveness have been impressive.
DerpusDingler: I don't think anyone ever thought for a second this was a rocket league "killer". Apples and oranges.
masummirza3033: RL doesn’t even have a pulse at this point, seeing as how much it’s been milked by psyonix and epic
aliveaxis6305: Until there is a quality direct competitor, rocket league won't die. The skill curve and improving at RL is harder than almost any other game, but that is what makes it so fun when you actually play well and are actually getting better
paxarator: literally no one ever claimed this would kill rocket league lol
incognito_AH: Bruh that's supposed to kill FIFA not Rocket League
MikeDragon: Rocket League doesn't need a "killer". It already has Epic Games.
v1p3r62: My 20h of playtime - 5 Crashes, 3 Game Freezes, once Freeze where everyone went invisibile for duration of kickoff (only major bug I encountered), 2 DCs.
I can't even play RL without being abused by Ghost Hits and Pcket Loss. I've had a better, more stable experience with a 1-day old game, than a 10yo game recently.
I'm not saying REMATCH is perfect, nor is it a RL killer, but it is exactly what was expected of it. Now it's a matter of getting Crossplay, and seeing where the devs go from there.
