The Lightning dot mark on the floor and the Rare mod lightning circle do 0 damage (yes ZERO base damage), all the damage they do comes from burning players mana and converting it into the crazy lightning damage over time. Mercs got no mana to burn = they take 0 damage. Thats it.

scire105: TBH this interactions needs removing. Without fixing this every single character should go lightning something, there is no other option from the optimization standpoint. Also there a lot alternatives to fix this. Something as simple as making the DR scale with resistances and that's it.

They'll change the DR calcs so that resists/defenses actually matter but scale insanely hard for mercs so that actually capping out 75s is what makes them tanky as fuck instead of just relying on as much backend DR

tehf00n: 100 shapers per second? But that one rare in the abyss took 20 seconds or so. I know it's not complete as a build, so it will be interesting to see exactly what mobs it has trouble with. Probably not a lot, but it does kind of do what you said and makes the game become Lightning Spear mark 2. Not for me but I hope people have fun with it I definitely hope they don't nerf the mercs to fix it.

1. Its obviously not working as intended and as players initially expected;

2. Its warping the meta, so everyone has to play a lightning build or feel stupid for not doing so.

I expect a hotfix very soon.

silentreveries4528: What am I missing, if you have doryani negative lightning res doesnt affect the damage you or merc will take (from hits), its written on the item. Having negative 200% res doesnt make you take 2 times more lightning dmg.

It instead calculates lightning dmg reduced by armor.
