j.t.sanders2330: If you're going to force us to play the campaign twice, let us crush it the first time and then make it hard on "Cruel."
SarcasticMonke: Blizzard: Don't you have phones?
GGG: Don't you have vision?
jonathonsavage5746: I would think most people would not want elden ring as an arpg especially if it feels unrewarding
mikeuuuytffvghjjoopoiytf: I decided to do my own build as a hunter this league... I had to resort to quitting and waiting for a popular build to come up because I made a crappy build stupidly investing into parry with alot of my skill passive nodes and support gems. Digging out of that hole by slowly acquiring 5 gold at a time to change your build early is just the most un-fun experience ever. Passive refunds should be free until end-game and skill gems / support gems should be able to revert to uncut until end-game.
Long rant short: I shouldn't have to get to end game to be able to afford to experiment with my build.
RammbockK: Uninstalled
KyleWrightsman: I got plenty of augments and transmute, but no regal or exalted orbs. I'm in act 6 and have found 2 exalts.
MrMysteriousDm: Low currency, weak characters, lack of build diversity despite 100 new gems due to most abilities being made virtually useless compared to better options and everything else doesnt stack up. Why play weak huntress when one can go warrior and play the new tanky subclass?
garyleonard9178: I had the same type of experience, it wasn't bad at all, and it took just a couple of tweaks when you found yourself dying too much. I am on huntress, just into act 2 though. The ice witch in Clearfell teaches you a lot. I was concerned about Geonar when Vinni said it was tough, but once I tweaked character a bit and adjusted for mobs in the manor, it wasn't bad. Boss took two attempts, and was actually fun. I am playing huntress with a mix of monk like jabs, evasion/dodge/parry, and explosive spear doing heavy lifting.
pa-pyro2804: The way us normal people play tho makes this patch terrible you cant really expect the same thing playing this game almost to endgame in one session like how could you not see that
dexmagedan5530: I hated this patch a lot ditched the game after 4 hours. When i played the first patch for 440 hours.
colmarksman: Adding Challenge doesnt just mean add monster HP, heavily debuff the player (ailments, stun threshold, defenses like armor being bad, HP stacking still weak in passive tree, ES getting hit hard and Evade being downtuned), kits that arent incredibly rewarding (parry skill locking okay abilities), and nerfing a ton of gear to the ground. Everyone compares Elden Ring but you also can manage a handful of enemies at a time (typically) and be given some type of reward that is adds up to buffs vs getting swarmed by 10-20 enemies moving at mach speed with hasted attacks and increased stun that beat you down before you can finish your 2nd move on your 3-4 hit combo.
It just feels bad, and when you do kill a ton of mobs you get 2 white drops. Adjustments need to be made, and obviously this was a huge overtune going the otherway from .1.
Im currently level 81 Smith of Kitava running Blood Spear build. End game mapping. Ive never felt a great "wow Im actually getting better" (though I dont have insane gear, still trying to kit up) but just barely surviving just a little longer with some rare fights going dodge spam / flask spam / run away.
Edit : tldr IMO Longer play time with little to no reward doesnt equate better challenge. Spending a minute running a full rotation for a small pack of white mobs, for each mob pack, and scaling with some ridiculous rares (Temporal Bubble, Hinder, Life Regen on a single rare...) it just becomes exhausting, not fun.
Yugentap: Whether it's good or bad(the difficulty you mentioned) is a good question on how it feels. To me I think I want challenge but it needs to feel like I'm getting something out of the challenge. As in rewards, as in progress with crafting that isn't lottery only, as in levels that don't don't have downsides on so many notables on level up. Loot still could be better in campaigns for those who are ssf and don't care about trade since it's clear burning through materials isn't really an option in campaign. (trade also needs less friction, not saying it has to be an auction house but it's gotta be improved 100%)
Anyway, Challenge drives us and makes us feel satisfied on completion. There should be resistance in the campaign but if it's overly high people will just drop off. I don't think it's simple to make that the case though. I really don't think white mobs should feel tedious or slow either. The true challenge in my mind needs to always be endgame. Quite a few gems seem kinda week overall and thus won't be used. Remember that every league we will have to do the campaign again. It also seems from what I'm seeing the big divide comes from what classes and skills people chose to play. Minion does not feel even close to what it did and it wasn't perfect prior. Conversely warrior is better than before. I don't like the approach of all classes that were excelling now brought down everyone not just those classes scaling at endgame but I understand they are trying to figure out how this all will workout.
I think people need to remember that this does take time and in some cases to learn new stuff you have to get people to try new things..
A really big thing that would help with discourse across the board though is people need to do better about being toxic to one another. It sucks to get bad luck, choose an underperforming build, feel like it's slow compared to before and then told no your wrong. Or git gud, or all the same kind of crap that I see in this community. Many aren't respectful, they get enraged so easy, they are hyperbolic, they don't give a nuanced take or when someone does it's just dismissed. This kind of stuff pushes new people away and to me keeps the echo chamber going. If this could improve I think it would further improve game feedback as well.
I think we should shame people who are actively trying to bring others down.
GGG also needs some improvement with working on what they really want people to experience and be willing to change stuff more often to help streamline their game development. It's going to take more time than what people think and many need to remember that we are here to have fun.
Either way I appreciate your viewpoints and giving your perspective. I really liked what you did with monk in the last patch and I hope your channel grows and you can continue to find what works to help others. (I also hope that it becomes easier for new people to choose viable options. )
noahstambaugh5630: If PoE2 was a vehicle, dawn of the hunt was GGG forcing us to use square wheels.
asdfomfglol: I'm more on the mindless hack n slash side with DIFFICULT BOSSES but not random ahh rares or minor unique bosses, just the story ones. If I wanna play a hard game, i'd play dark souls or a competitive multiplayer game.
Nillrod1: Nerfs, buffs, challenges are fine. The bottom line for me is that it just isn't fun now.
Tollgrinder282: I also disagree with you. this is not elden ring. rng does not play a role in builds or pay to win (currency or real money. Please think man. i havebeaten every single souls and souls likes. POE2 is not a souls and their difficulty is not even compared to elden ring or other from soft games.
Tollgrinder282: I disagree with you. i am following your build and viper is impossible
ArticulateArena: you all keep saying polarizing ... that's not the right word. there's the truth and there's the simps and shills. people saying polarizing are the shills that make it seem like there's some good in this game
anthonysnyder18: This isnt elden ring... this is an ARPG. Its a different genra of game. I love elden ring; if i wanted to play elden ring then i would boot it up.
Dritkant: Tbh i like the difficulty. I’m by all means a casual player with not optimal build or gear and I died quite often. But like on the act 2 boss where I really struggled, it felt SOOO good to finally beat him, after like 20 times and switching skills and stuff. I’m only in the beginning of act 1 cruel and now I have no problem. Looking forward to see how my minion witch feels in end game
choppax9454: The REWARDS are the 1st thing to look at asap cuz this game is just hard cuz you drop crapy loots all the time
madestro: What I really want is for GGG to actually come out and clearly state the vision for the whole PoE2 game. Do they like the game to be hard and the power escalation to be smoother? Or do they just want to be like all the other ARPGS where you just zoom zoom everywhere deleting everything? But they won't do that, marketing will never let them because that would mean loose a ton of players, either the PoE1 veterans or those of us new ones that may want a slower ARPG that is not focused on zoom zoom delete screens
DashOfSalt84: I think the bosses are generally in a good place. If they just roll back/reduce the buffs to normal(ie all non-boss, inc rare) mobs, then the game will be in a decent place. Obviously more work to be done, but I don't like that there are actually non-viable but reasonable builds. What it felt like people called 'non-viable' in .1 was actually just you couldn't blast maps and one click screen clear. That's bs, that doesn't need to be the standard. But there were a lot of builds that could get through the campaign just fine and even clear maps. I want a large variety of builds that can do T0 Pinnacle content. They don't need to be super good at all of it, but that tells me the players have a choice. Right now, there are relatively few builds that are capable of getting through the campaign without a huge slog.
So just, tune down the mobs a bit and go from there. They already started on that path with the hotfix. I think it needs more tweaking/reducing but we're almost all the way there imo.
Oh, and loot drops. I've been fine, but too many people are just in some kind of loot drop desert so I believe it's undertuned. Give us more currency, if not more drops. I want more regal orbs during the campaign, or just drop more rares.
Tollgrinder282: Dude I already quit this season. I never struggled until viper and simply I cannot beat her. Also the gloves and the helmet of your build they sell from the minimum at 1 divine I just totally despise GGG. Previous league I took every class to engage but this time I cannot pass even viper. fk this game
