brianweissmangaming: So cool! I remember when we first designed the famous Skill Tree. It originally was just a web of attributes, and it remained that way for about four years of development.

Eventually, after PAX West in 2011, we realized it needed more interesting stuff. The next few years saw the creation of tons of nodes that added small buffs to certain weapon and damage types. Then I named all the Keystones and gave them flavor text. Then we designed the "Notable" nodes and I gave those names too. The rest is history.
