POE 1 Turning The Market Against Market Manipulators... Elders Exalted Orbs Path of Exile 3.27

GerzhusTV: Market PVP was so fun in classic WoW because you know who is on the other side. They’d message me to stop undercutting their inflated price as they were trying to buy something out (aka “reset” the market) and I’d counter with: “If you really think it’s worth (inflated price), go ahead and buy it off of me” and I’d have thousands of that particular item and they’d keep buying it until they realized they couldn’t afford to buy me out and stay profitable.

As for why I had thousands of that item (a herb that wasn’t black lotus), I was betting on fluctuating prices of an item for server resets when it was raid night for most players.

kbar4462: Sirgog's EVE Online came out for this video

ph8680: the rogue markers flip is such an npc way of exploiting faustus :D

nickgoodman566: Not all heroes wear capes; some wear toucan apparel!

dex44444: i remember sirgog making a video about the rogue marker faustus flip early in settlers, claiming that he abused it a little bit but won't do it anymore. now he shows 5 listings of rogue markers for divines at faustus.

IsmaelBurk: If you’re not in Kraddun now, you’re about to watch life-changing gains pass by, this thing is about to explode.

satanicrazgo616: Rue is a Cat

sadeeper: Cat is a Rue

pesteanvstefan5491: Sirgog is market manipulating . Gets rekt , then angry ,then makes a video about it.

FredFredsen: "Market PVP" ahahah xD I like that termonology.

alewis514: A tale as old as the first MMO with frictionless trading in it.

Some dude tries to "manipulate the market" by buying out every single auction and repost it for a ridiculous price.

He mad that he gets instantly undercut, often by a wide margin. Dude, these are fast moving goods. You can't just take over the market and sell at 1000% value.

It's like buying out every Coca-Cola bottle in a 5 kilometer radius and listing them for $100 each in your own store. People are not going to pay $100 for your overpriced Coke. They will just wait for delivieries to those other stores you cleaned out. Because these goods move in such large volumes that a single actor cannot ever "take over" such market.

ericsnipes3465: Async tade AS Expected worked against the bad actors, i hope GGG keeps this up.

jamessunderlandseventh7410: Market PvP, the only meaningful form of PvP in PoE

pickledbeaker5916: what's an RPG game w/o some market manipulation shenanigans, thanks Jevus for SSF !

dimitrisfikas7115: So instead of playing the game we play faustus stock exchange simulator ...i come here to escape real life not simulate an inferior version of it this is such a vibe killer

69Katango: Really good eye to notice that happening in real time. I've seen items I'm using for crafting randomly skyrocket without knowing why, I usually just pause and come back once it goes a little closer to normal. Very interesting to know a potential reason as to why it happens!

Dejan.Dobrota: This stuff is a plague on the currency exchange and a lot of the profits these people make are most likely funeled to RMT.

burntorangeandblue: I actually saw this in real time, just not the full grasp of the situation. I was buying orbs for mana on hit rings and the prices went all over the place. My head was telling me someone was trying to drive the price but I had no idea the extent of it.

I still paid more than I should have but it only took me four rings to hit so it’s a drop in the bucket.

Imagine the gold cost of listing the inventory at 150!

paperstars9078: I think there could be value in some community effort to figure out what was selling unexpectedly well in async trade.

For example at one point I sold ilvl 84 phantom mitts bases for up to 10c even though you get 86 bases from the tree aswell.

Halls-and-Home: I'm much more of an SSF player, but I will admit there's an appeal to participating in trade purely to mess with market manipulators to ruin any profits they could possibly make.

Sinuvil: Are the heist coins ever selling? I had 65k-1d listed for like a week b4 I took it down to make space ^^

oopomopoo: These kradun bots are heckin heck. Dumb bots, this is about poe market manipulation, not whatever crypto scam you got goin lol

DPFTIERHJB: Lol, love it, mate. You're a man of the people, Sirgog.

seikojin: I did this in ultima online a long time ago. Love it.

Talon_PoE: I found many other loopholes like these. For example on week 1 the sacred orb was something like 10c and for half an hour the price rose up to 30c or so. I kept buying cheap ones and sell them at the new price.

I thought this was like a regular flipping scenario. Same thing happened with tailoring orbs. I was assuming the market went dry and people didn't have those orbs anymore, yet people still wanted to buy some.

IsoYear: kind of on the nose to also have the rogue marker thing
