Zourath: Something important to note about Marionette life scaling: Spectres use a different algorithm to determine their life scaling vs. pretty much every other minion. I suspect this is a big reason why spectres are balanced to get less monster levels from gem levels. A 2.8x life scaling Dark Marionette is actually lot more life than a 7.25x life scaling Stone Golem, because Dark Marionettes use the life scaling algorithm used by common hostile mobs, while Stone Golems and pretty much all other regular damageable minions use the ironically named 'Spectre' life scaling.

Omaw77: You can also do the Coruscating Elixir with the Mother's embrace belt, which make it much easier since they will automatically use the flask when summoned, it does raise the issue of maintaining the flask charges however.
