francesco8000: I can see the logic but for a new player making a characters feels like an insane time investment to do while going blind.
Doesn't help that it's not very clear for new player if you can respec your character and if there is a cost to do it or not.
JOK120: I just want the ability to pin nodes so I don't forget what I was actually building towards lol
Zijkrial: Maybe I'm weird, but if I'm new to a game the last thing on my mind is "how can I be just as powerful as the top players?"
In a game so open-ended, it seems like a waste to immediately go to copy someone else's build.
That said, and this is important...that's my subjective opinion and I have no issue with people searching it out as he states here; that is completely different than the game offering to take that exploration away from you baseline.
13TeK11: In my opinion they should add the build calculator as an in-game overlay, so everyone can see the node paths, understand the outcomes, and make informed decisions without relying solely on external web tools
hitmanstallion2697: I think a regular player wouldn't be seeking out a build guide, a regular player would want to have a couple starter builds available to get them in the game then as they progress through it have the game teach them how certain keywords or specific nodes interact and how damage scales so they can learn how to design their own builds as they go.
tigfickler7353: Destiny did the premade build bullshit
100% agree with the creator here, never do that as a creator! It’s annoying, it’s belittling, it’s degrading, and it’s unnecessary - if everything works the way it’s supposed to, then me, the player, should be able to READ the thing, understand what it does, and then integrate it into a build of my design or a design I see that I like
emilemil1: For most beginners it's kind of pointless to just know the nodes of a build, in most cases you need to read the guide anyway because which nodes you want depends on how far along the build you are, and you may need to do respecs. The entire build may not even work without specific items.
For it to make sense I think there needs to be a whole ass build planner in the game, which is not a bad idea honestly since builds and theorycrafting are so core to PoE.
TrippyTigre: I think he says that knowing PoE 1 players in and out. People who actively play that game want that system exactly, either 0 guidelines or a premade meta build. He doesn't realize for new players, especially ones not familiar with PoE, and ESPECIALLY those not familiar with ARPGs, it's absolutely maddening not having a simple guide that you can deviate from. Even starting with a meta guide can be bad for new players as it may take advantage of more complex systems to squeeze every % of DPS out vs Here's my barb, this button makes you spin, have fun.
simonnilsson8375: Yeah, that sounds alright.
PaddyyYY: I don't like the dev's logic. A new player has 0 idea how to build a character. And using 3rd party sites to import them is already a bad thing. You don't want your player spend a significant amount of time alt tabbing and or reading guides outside of the game.
PetrCobra: I'm fine with having to seek it out/download it as long as they allow to make it work on consoles, kind of like filters
tankorz3427: Torchlight infinite has had this for a while now.
brunocarreira8651: I think this feature already exists in poe 1 Chinese version
Dominus-Noctis: Customizing your build is like the whole fun of the game though.... unless you just like endless loot grinds
voldimitsu2051: I love how the majority of gamers these days have an aversion to thinking for themselves. For me, the joy I get from playing games comes from figuring things out. Too many people just want the most powerful build they can find and then say " look at how cool my build is " when it isn't their build lol.
skaarm3170: It’s too complicated for me to figure out
sorrowfiend2625: Path of building has imports now.
CyanideCold: Then you get all the players that cant beat the first act boss because your game isn't balanced for new player builds that suck.
WorldsMostWantedNPC: "We don't want to show the player any builds because we don't know what's good ourselves, we're not really good at balancing and we don't have time to test them, that's why we have you and the alpha access."
sassyviking6003: Having a massive obtuse system that is massively overly complex and inherently doesn't work if you don't knownwhat you're doing necessitating the use of guides is not a valid game design choice. You either give some explanations to new players so they can reasonably attempt to make their own builds, or you will have a game very few people pick up because it is actively hostile to new players, and what few do pick it up will feel forced to use build guides. All of this will mean you will have failed in making a game.
KingMaz1: Sad how much I don’t enjoy poe 2
teipkep: I don't understand people who want guides all the time. Just play the game? I have been playing online games since diablo 3 and league season 2, I have NEVER used a single guide. When I played mmo's, the most fun was on pts figuring out the bosses. Some people hated it, wanted to wait until guides where out because we are wasting our time. Idk how that is wasting time? Who are playing the game, me or some random content creator?
BigSco88: You'll never feel as connected, same as game guide back in the day
airfu3ion284: Any plans to make a good game?
livetohelpothers8401: Sounds like console players ain’t getting that anytime soon
ipeter7472: Will age poorly and already has. lol
