Why WoW Players Are Trying OSRS Actually Having Fun!

sweatybert: Came here from WoW almost 2 months ago. The OSRS community has been the most welcoming of any game that I've tried in my breaks from WoW. I'm genuinely addicted to OSRS at this point. I've cancelled my WoW sub and just never going back unless something big happens.

rsdudetsom: whats so cool is every single one of them is having a unique and different journey which is so fun to watch, you think watching someone do the same early game grind over and over would get dull but 4 weeks later im watching xaryu start his GIM today being the 20th wow streamer ive watched leave tutorial island this month. the variety is content overload and im there for it!

KallTorak: Good video :) As a wow vet I constantly find myself saying "Man I've been asking for this in wow for years". There is a level of freedom in this game that I've desperately missed in MMOs. I have almost 3 days play time and I haven't done a single quest yet xD

MichaelMartin-jt9iv: I cant wait to watch guzu, savix and soda watch this on their streams while fletching. Solid content.

joshb1089: I came to the game on my own. I didn’t realize streamers were getting into the game. It’s pretty cool they are. I’m enjoying my three weeks in game! Some random person handed me a rune axe for no reason. I love this game

SlyElf: Blizzard wants everyone to play their update together. Jagex recognize that experiencing things in your own time is also important.

unprofessionaltrader6743: I like the new video format man, great video!

CaelenSawyers: The Wow Token popup for MadSeason is proof you actually watch his vids lmfao, props

currentcommerce4774: its so funny that runescape didnt even win the MMO war

wow just choose to lose lol

essay8634: Pretty level and grounded assessment, nice to hear your thoughts.

hmonglord: so i was curious and decide to look at how many version of wow there are. There is at least 5:Retail wow, classis wow,Season of Discovery wow,Anniversary Classic wow, and Cataclysm Classic wow. Wtf

WiseWords42: Where ORS has learned WoW has failed massively! Imagine if OsRs just released all the content updates people hated and left because of until OsRs became something nobody wants to play again

flake8382: I welcome them. One new streamer I'm following allows "back-seat gaming" so long as you are not a dick and it's been so immersive. Feels like we are playing along and discovering together. I feel involved. I don't feel like I'm just watching another burnt out streamer who secretly hates their runescape fan base (yeah, that's you Jimmy).

Keep coming over Wow vets, you are most welcome here.

Cili_btw: Great video mate, a little bit surreal seeing a lot of these creators who I used to watch try out RS.

Nadindel: Totally missed intro opportunity for all the wow streamers to come pouring in through the dark portal from wow lmao

TrampyPulsar: I stopped playing WOW years ago, and the reason is simple: FOMO and seasonal content isn't fun for an MMO.

When I play OSRS every step of progression is meaningful, and even when new content comes out that makes older content less viable, your acompishments aren't completely and totally overwritten. Just because a new raid comes out doesn't mean that your god wars or barrows gear is useless, but in WOW, when a new tier comes out, your normal/heroic raid gear gets invalidated by M welfare gear.

On top of this, different content offers different progression steps that are meaningful, and getting those progression items are always great, but in WOW the optimal way of playing WOW is to ignore 99% of the content and just run M until you have enough gear to run the current raid. Every raid in OSRS is still viable for end game progression, meanwhile modern WOW the last patch's raid is worthless compared to the current M set.

And lets talk about how blizzard has turned M into a forever grind, in OSRS I can run barrows until I get everything I want unlocked and move on, I can do slayer until I get everything I want unlocked, I can do god wars until I get everything I want unlocked and move on, and sure Jagex can add new stuff to old content to get people to run it again for new unlocks or to make dead/dying content more appealing to do. But in WOW you're running the same dungeons every single season, the same hallway boss farms for a weekly dice roll for gear that will be vendor trash 3-6 months, if you ever get an upgrade at all.

And blizzard is doing their own verison of classic with season of mastery, they added in new dungeons and raids, but the problem is that they're just making the same FOMO/season based mistakes that makes people not want to play retail, instead of just adding new items, new profession upgrades, and new content with new progression paths to work along side the original content, they're just making the same mistakes that makes retail WOW boring by invalidating the original content and making the new content better. Also who wants to run a black fathom deeps as a raid, just release a new raid in the same style, don't take old content and make it lame with lockouts, and completely worthless since its now a raid that no one wants to run for level 30 gear when they can just grind bears to 60

I still dip my toes into OSRS, but my main jam now is EVE Online, because in EVE a Titan from 2006 is just as unique and viable today as it was back then, sure there are more of them running around because more people have build them over time and CCP has reduced the requirements to use them drastically over the years, as well as added new faction titans to the game that are more powerful, but there aren't Tech level 18 titans running around making the 2006 Ragnaroks and Avatar's worthless. Meanwhile my Tier 3 from 2006 in WOW is completely and utterly worthless today. Also I don't even have a Titan and I don't want one, I prefer flying the more newbro friendly early game ships because they're just as viable as titans, just in a different way.

dagothhyde7297: You guys know as soon as the next new wow thing comes out, they're gonna drop RS right?

tonyquach9655: Isn't this what happened to ff14 and then they all left?

mrcool76789: did you mean to start with saying "wow" lol

P4GYY: the great wow migration of 2025 hahahahaha

blacksunshine9995: This is FF14 exodus all over again. See ya'll in a few months hen Player Housing is released!

xDivineAxe: bro that mic is way too small

neeksthecuz: This is the golden age of live streaming but there is definitely potential for edited content in the future for these streamers. As you said, it’s gonna be a second monitor game for a lot of them and if they can make content off stream while keeping up regular streams, it’s a win win for us and them honestly.

I was watching Savix’ stream and the OSRS team was in chat trying to recruit him for the next GG so Jagex could have a hand in keeping these guys around for a while too

ez6791: I started with runescape as a kid but once I got into wow I never looked back, but I love both and these days are more likely to desire runescape. Great video, completely agree with all of it especially the last bit
