Shopping CartIts_OldBay: release content > its good> people screech> xp nerfed > dead content.
the cycle of all new rs content.
farmi838: master class on fine tuning content so that absolutely everyone dislikes it
Jed_Io: Jagex content release checklist:
Untested
Ban players for bug abuse (sometimes)
Nuke the content
Poor apology - ‘we missed the mark on this one’
Shrug shoulders
idontevengame1: getting my opinion at 2x speed
not_worth: I just want some decent afk mining xp that doesn’t require running across the planet every 30 minutes
Sandfordsons: What the fuck are you even doing anymore is all i want to ask the developers
kjax139: Shocker. Gagex has no clue what they want from their game
RDPoi: Reddit genuinely needs to shut its damn mouth sometimes, and it honestly seems like Jagex agrees lol.
lofisketches6802: This game really is held back by peoples attachment to archaic design. Are we really going to die on a hill where we defend 3T granite game play? Would any sane person watch me do this for an hour and be like, yea, I need to make an account right now.
MemeBard: To be completely fair Rubium was polled as a non xp focused method so i think its fine if they nuke the XP altho weird they changed the aquisition rate
"Two variants of mining unlocked at different levels. Neither method has a focus on XP with Rubium splinters being the main resource to create incendiary cannonballs (ships only)."
MythrilZenith: I understand wanting to not creep out training methods constantly. We saw how RS3 drifted into every update needing to be bis in some way. We don't need that.
At the same time, keeping the most bs grinds like no-loot sepulchre or tick-manip granite as these holy standards that will never be crossed feels like malicious compliance to an overly cautious vocal minority which end up forcing the vast majority of players to hate the skills that are being squeezed because of years-old RSI-inducing methods that are barely doable for most players for any length of time.
Also, the rubium geodes might be the worst of both worlds, because sure it's several minutes afk, but the exp per geode is terrible, the mining rate of geodes is terrible, the shards per geode is terrible, and you'll end up getting better rates if you click once per minute at normal rocks than if you have full uptime on big geodes.
Nightsbringer1: I'm also unsure why this "smithed bar integrity" thing going on. As you mentioned, giants foundry. Smith bar, make bars into items, melt items at the minigame and get XP 3 times
As far as tick manipulation goes, I would love a good guide on granite mining. I love 2 tick woodcutting and fishing and can get into a rhythm where I can read a book while doing it. Mining I just can't get down though
PearPearington: Suggesting they hold off on the adjustments is wild. If they let something settle for multiple weeks before a buff, sure the community would be fine. But if they hold off to let it settle, then conclude it needs a nerf, people will lose their minds four times as hard.
wolfVFV: Ironman suffer again for the Economy by lowering splinter gain.
I do not know what effect it would had on the economy but sure except that you mine 50% more and sell it for 33% less.
but hey, THE ECONOMY IS SAVED
michaeldes9566: Good vid! Game would be better if jmods ignored reddit complaints about balance, it would otherwise be infinite insane powercreep.
all_thescience: I'm gonna be so real, I have not heard a single argument in defense of slow skills being miserable and slow that doesn't eventually boil down to "because it's always been this way." Leagues being disappointing for me has already got me taking a break from the game. But the community being stuck in 2009 for the dumbest shit is prolly gonna keep my away for even longer
andrewkoon3637: I think this was technically a buff for non tick manip. Originally we would only receive 1 max splinter per action. Now it's 2 max depending on level with the original xp rate kept.
raicoron3466: Just to clarify, turning your bars into any item and then using those items at giant's foundry is less exp (per bar) than just using bars at giants foundry. This is true for all bars and items.
sleepyzeph: can someone explain to me why making the splinters untradable wouldn't fix all the issues related to the smithing side?
-like, they're worried about mains buying splinters and getting good afk buyable smithing xp. this fixes that.
-they're worried that if smithing incendiaries is good smithing xp for mains, it'll increase their supply and make them a negligible cost increase over standard cannonballs. see previous point.
-without tick manip, gathering splinters is moderate mining xp/h (or low xp/h if afk deposits), and you have to do a LOT of mining to do even a little bit of smithing. looking at the smithing xp/h in a vacuum only works if you assume people can buy splinters and skip the mining portion. it's like saying motherload mine should get nerfed because it gives gold ore, and cashing in the gold ore at blast furnace is really good smithing xp.
i have to be missing something, because this seems like the obvious way to fix the issue. imagine if daeyalt shards were tradable.
Generic-Human-Input: Players complain about a feature, Jagex changes feature, players complain about the changes, Jagex changes it, players complain.
I could never create a game. The complaining and entitlement is insufferable.
laranjo5999: Jagex: We're Nerfing XP
Community: How about no
Jagex: Hmm... Understandable, we hear you. How about less XP AND worse rewards?
TheycallmeCummings: If Rubium wasn’t stackable there would be absolutely no problem
Gagneto: tbf, I think you do get less xp if you turn bars in to stuff instead of using them raw at giant's foundry
maxwellstylez: I dont care what they do but its embarrassing that they cant present the player with a consistent vision. if you are going to release new content either feel confident in it to defend its existence or if you dont then maybe figure out whats wrong with it before you change it immediately.
asemp54: depends on the account you play tbh. for mining splinters...price wise not a nerf, xp wise eh, amount you get? yes nerfed, but its afk so who cares.
the smithing nerfs are horrendous. rune incendiary takes lvl 90 smithing and its like over 200m gp to get 9 lvls with this method. tf we doing
Luskaie: so basically, fuck reddit.
im on board.
randomunlistedvids: Redditors put the rube in rubium once again
