Shopping Cartqwery486: abuse early abuse often
colbr06: How do you spend years on a skill and not foresee the obvious issue with essentially passive xp impact of the extractor?
AEWxObituary: My biggest gripe with the news post Jagex made was saying Crystal Extractor had "an effective xp/hr rate" of 1,200,000.
What a stupid BS metric.
The007lord1: tbh the biggest problem they made it sound like they would "redistribute" the xp from the extractor, but other than port tasks ended up either doing nothing or nerfing even more.
gallowayow8672: this update just enforces agility 2 even more
FerociousPancake888: They absolutely should just revert the update and try again. They shouldn't have nerfed sorting at all. Just nerf it when you have 2 npcs on hooks. This wasn't that complex of an issue but they turned it into one and handled it really poorly. I do have faith they'll find a way.
Rjm00: Update isn’t that controversial it’s almost universally disliked
Hoontor: Yes stare at the Shiny Extractor nerf to Distract you from the Sorting Salvage Nerf.
I'm there Actively Salvaging and Sorting with Jenkins on the other hook.
Rip Safe-poting some Bounties while not making the cannons any better.
EmperorOnyx8: Jagex had figured out the sauce for their spaghetti code and then dumped a bucket of salt on it. A 50% nerf on salvaging while keeping unique in the 20ks is absolutely insane
TopSchierke: As someone who both enjoyed salvaging but also knew it needed to be nerfed, this is a huge miss for me. The crystal extractor change is fine, but all the other changes to salvaging just ruin the experience in bizarre ways. All of these changes are on top of lowering experience for salvaging by 30-60% depending on the type of salvage.
1) The additional salvaging spot at each location means that the uptime of each double spot has been lowered from 90% to 80%
2) Sorting salvage experience has been halved or more than halved for certain types of salvage, meaning it is way better to just drop the salvage rather than actually doing anything with it
3) Tick manipulation was actually buffed heavily with this update, and tick manipulating at merchant shipwrecks now gives 200k xp per hour despite them saying they arent trying to balance around it
4) Crewmates are now two ticks slower, further compounding how much worse salvaging is
Before if you were actually afk salvaging, you'd get around 45k-60k experience per hour at merchant shipwrecks. If you were at various levels of activity you would be rewarded with increasing amounts of experience. Now you get basically nothing for actually afking at the afk activity and instead you may as well just drop all your salvage and stay glued to the screen since you have to click every 30 seconds just to get anything out if it. Afk rates with moderate attention before the nerf were similar to redwoods, which considering woodcutting isnt exactly considered a fast skill and sailing requires significant investment, I think is justified.
Before, salvaging fit into the sailing ecosystem and was a cool reward for investing so much into your boat and leveling up to 87. Gwenith glide is available at level 72, so I do not personally have a problem with the level 87 afk method being actually useable. Before the skill would have taken 90-100 hours to active afk but now it will take over 200. Ridiculous!
lathorius6093: This update makes salvaging feel horrible, I think I will just give this skill a break until more updates now. It just feels like agility 2.0
Khrissalla: One point that you touch on, which you're directly referencing from Jagex, is the "30 minute afk". I think something of importance to keep in mind is that it really isn't 30 minutes of afk. You're having to salvage during that time. If you purely clicked once and went afk for 30 minutes before, the xp wasn't anywhere close to the 70k , or whatever they mention in their blog post. Even pre-nerf, if you went afk for 30 minutes, the xp/hour wasn't great. Not to say if that's a good or bad thing in comparison to other training methods, but it kind of bothered me seeing the debate in some areas acting like full afk was like 70-100k xp/hr. Lots of people were pretending you were getting 30k xp/hr from extractor while also being afk for 30 minutes.
Mitchell.B.Williams: "Added more double shipwreck spots" yet in practice it's less likely to get them now lmao. Whoops
BigPogger: Even tho this update missed the mark, I still think sailing is a great addition to the game with a lot of room for growth. The new trees added actual progression to woodcutting, rune bars became useful for making repair kits, smithing at higher levels has actual use instead of being able to smith low lvl armor. I think there was a serious overreaction from both sides (Jagex being to heavy handed with the nerfs and players declaring sailing dead)
jack9316: turned sailing into agility 2 killed all the hype around it for the casual player and made DAM sure we will never get a brand new skill again, they also are fucking lieing out there as they knew all these xp rates long before release and still released them because they wanted the innitial hype and free advertisement on social media and now they are giving a huge middle finger to anyone who isnt a unemployed loser who no lifed the skill, and not only that with the crystal extractor nerf they FLAT OUT LIED about putting the xp else where as they have not especially when they nerfed all other methods and the only one less touched being port tasks is rng dependent on getting good port tasks. Its also really fucking disappointing to see to many people completely fucking get on there knees to blow jagex and defend this shit if they are gonna do this shit they need to take away xp from these fucking losers who used the nerf skills pre nerf and see how fucking quick they will be to defend Jagex.
EpicNinja989: I could care less about the 30 min afk method. The fact they nerfed sorting the salvage by so much incentivizing dropping while having insane rates for unique is very out of touch regardless of the intent.
TheCpadron19: Everyone: Sailing isn't that bad
Jagex: Hold my Beer.
AlexAlexAlexAlex33-z6u: I dont understand the fixation with "30 min afk" I mean maybe it's just me but Ive hardly seen anyone even talking about that other than jagex themselves. I think they're focusing on the wrong issue, everyones not pissed off because of the 30 min afk or whatever but that they nuked salvaging xp rates across the board, didn't redistribute crystal extractor xp at all and made xp rate comparisons with extremely stupid xp/hr metrics
retzky: idk, i find deep sea trawling pretty fun. people are expecting a bunch of xp, but for a low xp-high loot method i dont think it needs adjusting
codylawson1257: Jagex is very lazy, Pretty sure they didn't test half of the stuff in sailing
Like how did they not know that the extractor is busted
bddb1132: the only thing thats hurting the skill is the timed racetracks
Spookdog: can they change it back to roll the pet whenever you complete a barracuda trial even if you don't make time so I don't have to grind out a rosewood hull before 99 thanks. I like my chill 7 minute marlin gwenith glide runs
xKuhls: .....I killed 500 great white sharks going for the hook, sucks that I've been missing out on potential dragon pieces :(
Raionhardt: So glad i hit 99 sailing yesterday
NickOats: I sure they will get this figured out just like forestry wait...
codylawson1257: The xp nerf's are fine.
It's the droprates on everything that is terrible
ctxdd: The xp changes were good, imo, anyone who thinks there should be a 25 minute afk method that gives the same xp as barb fish, mlm, calcite, etc is smoking something
