Megarare Rewards for Raids 4 OSRS

jmucr96: Can’t wait for raids 10 so I can combine tbow shadow and scythe into a ak47

Aeryen_: Thank goodness I was mid panic attack from almost forming my own opinion. Thank you for the save Gnome <3

jimjones673: Jamflex should go joker mode and do a skiller megarare

EightOneActual: This video made me want to smoke a cigarette and flip a tire.

imthepacman-_-8235: Flat armour is another lever to seperate scythe and crush megarare

zephyrast3036: As unpopular as it might be, I think that keeping just the 3 megarares we have now would be healthiest. I'm not sure how you can build up similar levels of excitement in raids 4 without one though.

jonathanboucher7298: Elemental robes seem cool to make mage more than, you know, bring the best powered staff you have aka ranged 2

RobertoSwagShow: as an ironman i dont mind "upgradescape", the section starting at 13:22 where you describe what it could become is just called gear progression and i have no problem with it, gives me more content to do

SwankyBanana: On the point of no more megarares, I can definitely see the appeal. I think in general most players like the idea of a big chase item, and that has likely forced the mods hands into creating a megarare where none is needed. I do see myself agreeing with your point that it might not be necessary to have them anymore, but we could still do a chase item with just slightly less rarity. Something at the power level of SRA or Fang where they have big power levels, but they do not outshine the current trio of megarares in 90% of places.

Now, for the armour set topic, I personally really like upgradescape even as an Ironman. What I usually don't like is when an item is useless until I get its component (rancour, cerb crystal, confliction, etc), and I really like when an item is immediately useful like Masori and Treads. I personally think a higher level Crush armour set would be fine, and I am also in favor of having it work like Masori with requiring Inquisitor. The problem here for me is not upgradescape. Its that Nightmare has a poorly designed drop table which should be fixed. I do agree though that Raid upgrades should not require other raids' rewards as that would be way too much rarity.

Good points overall though. I can see why there is not a one singular best solution because the mods would have done that already if it existed. Even if we're disagreeing, I like that we as a community are having these conversations.

matthewnewnam9289: “I hate armor switches”

Got it, let’s go for tribid armor that sits in between BIS and Moons

Furry_Wall: I like Upgradescape :(

x_equilibrium6214: Not as a megarare, but I would like for one of the raid rewards to be able to combine all three void helmets, and maybe an upgrade for the mace to make it relevant in someway. Plays into the Guthix theme as well as reinforcing the niche that void armor is your minimal switch tribrid gear and could help keep it relevant.

Emptynogin1: I love upgradescape. I genuinely wouldn't mind if one day my armor was like 5 different sets combined. Aside from all the game design benefits that have been talked into the ground, it just feels good knowing that all those drops you've gotten have added up gradually in a big way.

jazkat1: As an iron I actually really like upgrade-scape, it's one of the things that I've felt makes OSRS special in that whenever I take a break or new content comes out, I know the progression I've achieved isn't invalidated, those items still important to have achieved. That being said, megarares are already in a place where they're so powerful that they're hard to design around and we have all 3 styles covered, not having them going forward might be the way to go from the options you outlined.

iNeo1: I think we need something that feels unique and fun to play with.

Like an automatic crossbow which becomes faster every consecutive attack. Shield which reflects damage. A horn that heals other players. Melee distance magic weapon. A pet which you can give move and attack commands. Offhand weapon that can attack 1 tick after your main hand weapon. Boots that leave a trail of damaging floor. A new prayer that buffs all damage over time effects. An upgrade to dark bow which makes it shoot 3 arrows. Upgrade to DFS which gives it a special dragonfire attack that's actually useful. Upgrade to karils crossbow which makes it attack every tick 6 ticks in a row before reloading. An item with a special attack that makes the next hit you take heal you instead. A spell that pulls all nearby enemies to your location.

The possibilities are endless. True that some of these might break certain content or introduce cheese strats, but that's kinda part of the fun.

filltheblank8348: Can you feel that? The wave of terrible megarare ideas is approaching.

MrArkaneMage: Lets do a Shield Mega-Rare! :)

purplecatfishz2112: What about an offhand hammer that applies a second hit splat rolling with crush accuracy? Basically makes all weapons multi hitsplat

kirasu8263: Im in the upgradescape boat i get that it get monotonous but also it keeps the possibility of new and fresh gear and content alive and that outweighs the farming part by a lot

Theflipside182: Perfect day to have the Slay the Spire music in the background.

rbruce5270: megarare spec weapon

cEighteen: 14:10 idk you're kind of describing the perfect game for me xD love upgradescape. give me more terraria upgrade trees! maybe some diverging paths in upgrade trees too? :D

LocalOSRS: It’s so funny because as I was listening to your video about the blood moon rises during the part where you talked about the raids 4 mega rare I actually got a notification from Jagex saying that their blog post was out about this topic

Lol

BlowForDough: upradescape especially on an iron with treads in-mind is great, you get boots early game from mta, you're gonna do it anyway because you want the magic levels, you dip into to spirituals to get dboots at 83 slayer which are your bis boots till cerb anyway, and meanwhile you're chipping away at med clues as you go through the game. It's not like you're starting with a maxed iron to now go "oh I have to do 27 bits of content to get X item", you do them as you're generally progressing through the game. I think this is the best feeling of game progression "I need to do X now because I hit the requirements and I also need x, y or z item for a later upgrade".

AladeenMadafakas: Terraria esque upgradescape? I'd be down for that.

BrotherSeany: Imagine something you can attach to each existing megarare to turn it into a new item that grants them special attacks

Sherlokki: Big crush hammer cool
