Xenos First Reaction after Clearing the FFXIV Savage Raid

Just what?

Enderlinkpawnu: Xeno brings up a good point with the tank balance, because in practice damage is not the only metric, we should be judging the jobs on. I think party value is a big point as well. Paladin is the "meta" tank because the advantages it has over tanks is just that powerful. This is true in other roles too.

- MCH doesn't do enough damage to consider losing out on the buffs Dancer or Bard provide, let alone taking it in the flex dps slot over literally any other dps job.

- SMN doesn't do enough damage to compete with any of the casters, including RDM which is popping off this teir. Even in a pure utility sense, RDM has Summoner beat by having a party mit and the ability to shotgun reses.

- WHM doesn't have enough value to compete with Astro. Yes, in theory WHM does more damage, but you aren't picking healers because of their personal damage. Astro can buff the dps to do more damage, which makes it way more valuable.

- Reaper is struggling in this tier primarily because disconnecting from the boss is really bad for them. Even Monk (which has zero spammable ranged attacks) has the movement tools (thunderclap) and other abilities like Six-Sided Star to allow it to keep it's gcd running even if they have to step away from melee range (and if timed well enough, they have Wind/Fire reply as ranged options if they happen to be available). Reaper is not only heavily discouraged from disconnecting from the boss like Monk, but it also lacks the plethora of tools Monk has that make it more manageable if you need to for a mechanic (which is very common in this teir).

Which raises a question. What about the other three jobs with zero party utility: Black Mage, Samurai, and Viper? Well, the fact that they do so much damage is their utility. They are probably the most likely to be in that fourth flex dps slot, the M2 if you will. They just do so much damage compared to not just their roles, but the entire DPS roster, that they're worth bringing even if they don't buff the party if you can find a player that can play them effectively. That is at least part of MCH's problem: It doesn't do enough damage to compete with the best dps jobs in the game when it is supposed to fill that same "Selfish" archetype.

Granted, the balance isn't so bad to where certain jobs just physically can't clear the tier, but there are ones that definitely struggle more than others.

NayaiDeaure: Statics have Call Outs that help a ton, in PF, AM helps alleviate some of that. Not a fan of AM, but it can help the randomness of PF.

xliu9110: I am not a fan of consistently pushing for more tank homogenization, especially given how homogenized they already are. It already feels like playing the same job with a different skin applied when swapping between them. We've got the greatsword skin, axe skin, gunblade skin, and sword and board skin. If a tank has too much utility compared to other tanks, something should be removed instead of just giving all other tanks the same amount of utility. At some point, removal/nerfs need to happen (see PCT).

YordleIRL: I feel like this tier being harder is like recency bias at play, I think last tier M5S and M6S were harder on execution than M9S or M10S (actually debatable for m10s), I do agree that so far M11S is harder though, even if mechanically it's not too bad.

Privateskante: Viper getting buffed when it was already a top performer is crazy xD. doeg the most damage while being easy to play having a very flexible combo, can do 4 gdcs worth of ranged attacks that are some of thier highest potency abilities, and has 3 dashes that are on a low cd

Scarlett_Rem: dont forget ppls also use cactbot, what tells you the order in what stuff happened after the dev teams implemented the timeline and varietys of what everyone can actually get and where to move with it. cactbot already makes it for the individual player pretty braindead. i know not everyone uses it, but you cant also deny alot do use it to clear savage and ultimates. most ppls need mainly a reminder where they are in the fight, some use also timelines together with cactbot and act, and cactbot is basicaly a raidlead as program for your own, like a little devil on your shoulder telling you what comes up next.

sinjinalexander2758: When it comes to balance I don't think paladin having that advantage is bad. I think they should give different advantages. Warrior could have more ways to increase max hp for themselves or others, dark knight could let people survive on negative hp giving a tank invuln if your healers can heal the target. Gun blade could give a movespeed buff when a target gets aurora or something. Make all the tanks different and have them pop off in different fights I'm not saying my ideas are balanced but we can give every job special things to make them feel really good

ScrapssFr: If PF wants to clear they need to do ONE thing and I'm serious, if this ONE rule is followed, pf will clear every fights. The rule is simple : If you join a "Kill" or "Clear" PF then you MUST stop dying at every mech. This is causing too much harm on every players in PF. I spent the last 5 days trying to clear M9S and I just suceed yesterday after nearly 200 pulls at 96 parse. Players need to learn mech, strats etc.. If you're not sure about your capacities to clear then STOP GOING INTO CLEAR PF I BEG YOU

And honestly its so nice to play granted i been leasing pld from the ground up (never really gave it a chance) after taking a 4 tier break from the game and im exited for whats to come in the tier and when i master pld

RemnentsPasts: p9 and p10 are really easy to learn, execute and are super forgiving in terms to time and space to deal with mechanics. Like I'd say Necro extreme was harder than p9 mechanically.
