ImmaPandaRawr: One thing that might help new players. If you feel a bit worn out on the MSQ, it’s always a good idea to check out the other parts of the game. One thing I never thought I’d like but ended up enjoying was crafting and gathering classes or as they’re know in game Disciples of the Hand / Land. The crafting system in FFXIV is quite fleshed out and complex. Fishing is like a game in itself. It’s also easy to try out and level various classes in the beginning due to being able to do everything on one character. Sometimes switching up classes during the MSQ helps. The MSQ is quite long and I think sometimes, no matter how good it is, you do need a break or breather from it - particularly ARRs grind.
ditzyhere3138: I had to try a second time to get really into it. Got to lvl 50 msq with my bun girl and I was frustrated because I was still hoofing it everywhere. Second character I remembered reading that I could get a chocobo but had to google how. Still mystified how they didn't make it painfully clear that seals are a new currency that you could trade for a voucher to give to the chocobo stand.
BananaMellor: I can't tell you how many times I've been talking to a (former) wow player and they'll be like "yeah, I don't like this thing because it's not like WoW" and I'm like, "yeah, that's kind of the point. they diverged and built their own identity. besides, you're trying this because WoW wasn't what you wanted right now, right?"
It's a little sad that people sabotage their own fun trying to find something new but bashing it for not being the same.
And don't get me wrong, FF definitely has flaws. But if you only accept perfection I don't know if there's a game that will do it for you. Not any MMO at any rate.
pillowboat4978: if you ever want a break from MSQ i hope you try fishing, particularly ocean fishing, which iirc you can try as early as level 1 !! its such a fun and magical time
Daniel-gx7ou: Yeah there's not really any reason to grind between story quests, they give you all the xp and gear you'd need for one job, the grind comes in leveling and gearing up other jobs
sandraday6955: The worst thing about Final Fantasy Online is trying to enjoy it, there is no joy there.
TheBorzoi: I think they've done really well to make the MSQ entirely soloable now (with the exception of a few trials) so new players aren't stuck waiting for duty queues.
SecretVixen77: Im on my third attempt, first time I payed attention to msq it was ok, both times I played with friends and it was okay. I'm on my third try right now and I must say I'm able to speed run arr a bit cause I know the story and I remembered some important quests for extra game play and im playing solo and I must say im really enjoying it just got some glamour pieces too to feel cute in the start, been having a blast in gold saucer and trying different stuff. Revive ff14!
Handlesaretrash: That’s the deal, you play for the story and make room for everything else, and when you wanna take a break from story, then you fully invest in whatever other objectives grab your attention.
Shade_Knightly: I’ve really enjoyed FFXIV though been taking a break cause of personal reasons. Honestly though I enjoy the story and mechanics a lot, I especially find myself being 100% serious when crafting as if it ain’t perfect then I’ve failed myself, my teachers, and my chocobo.
PandorasCrate0: Just remember, once you're into Heavansward, the game's voice actors lie to you. It's pronouched yash-tola, not ish or yish-tola. Or Bae-tola. That's all that matters.
crazydonfredo132: I am still trying to get into it
teddypicker6969: I only got to around level 30ish but story was not good imo. Guess it gets better in later expansions
ethanwalker955: Honestly endgame of FF sucks. At the end of expansion everyone is running the exact same gear with the exact same build for their class. Not having build diversity really sucked the wind out of the sails for carrying on. The only thing you have is transmog.
