burtwonk: It is everything I hoped for. I am fully convinced that XIV just needs more of this type of content in its DNA and on X.0 launches. See you out there in the croissant!
SlackersForHire: As someone who loved Eureka, I'm having a blast. This is the first time I've played FFXIV all day in months and months!
barcey: I don't really see Phantom Crescent as Bozja 2.0, more like Eureka 2.0 and the grind kinda shows that.
metaboi488: One thing that I think Phantom Jobs lack is the ability to cross-class skills. It was a huge part of FFV's job system, and I was expecting Freelancer to learn or equip other Phantom Job skills to customize it. Maybe they're saving it for Mime?
And for the relic grind. It is a once per account grind! After getting the demiatmas you need 1500 tomes per weapon. I think it is a nice middle ground between EW relic and others. It makes it grindy for the first time but easier if you plan to get it all.
JustinK0: Its crazy how many people i seen begging for a grind, and now just as many people are complaining about the grind.
yoanignatov7610: It's a glorified hunt/fate train with let's be honest abbysmal reward structure in terms of gold coin generation. My experiance so far has been that this is the most mind numbingly dull piece of "content" released that falls apart the moment you can't zerg encounters.
Simmons101: Technically, it's a Bozja and Eureka mashup. It's got the visuals and atmosphere of Eureka, it's got the decent battle system of Bozja, and the deleveling system from Eureka.
CamperCarl00: They're obviously going to be expanding on this for the next year. I love the Phantom Job system and I suspect that leveling then will get easier as updates come out.
LaughingComedian: My only major complain is that everything is rng
Everything
All the drops including the gems for your relic weapons rng, I was playing for almost a full day and I still haven't gotten one of the gems you need (and you need 3 of each)
Some of the phantom jobs are hidden in specific CE's that have a CHANCE to drop so you just might never ever get to try this phantom job that people are talking about
Kuhazan: That is cope. They are tame because this is zone one of two for this content. Compare the additional abilities you get in Eureka in zone 3 and 4 to what you get in zone 1. Same with Bozja and Zadnor you do not start with all of the stuff.
slimabob: Had an awesome time chain farming in OC today. It's still pretty new and people are still feeling strats out- so we had to trial-and-error different map spots and party comps to come up with an effective farming method. It was a ton of fun, lots of jokes and banter. It was a kind of play I've personally been missing from XIV for a long time. Actual, meaningful interactions with players and working together to accomplish a goal.
Mbwun122: What made Bozja great, at least to me was that I was able to grind out relic weapon materials AND level alt jobs at the same time. It was super motivating to be able to do both at once and it was very fun getting a sneak peak at your class rotation at max level too. The gameplay loop was very satisfying. It was also very easy to hop into a group with friends and grind out levels together, often swapping jobs to help each other level each job one by one. Occult Crescent being locked to only max level characters for gameplay and the relic grind is very disappointing and while I might not skip it entirely I'm not too interested either.
SuperRamos619: Warriro Beserker = free fellcleaves.
omnicloudv7: You say you dont like the grind for the Relic Weapons but you also don't like 1500 tomes for Relics. You also provided no solution. What would be a better option?
The grind for the Phantom Jobs is a good thing. A non-trivial number of people have complained that theres "no content" to play. Now we have content that is designed to be done over a long period of time and folks are annoyed or mad about it.
Its like nothing the Devs can do is sufficient enough. So what is the alternative? Do we want content that can be blitzed through in one evening or do we want content that is engaging and will last is a while?
bloodyninja2411: Its funny you didnt mention whats happens after you get the first relic weapon. Its 1500 tomestones…..
KZorander: The demiatma is a ONE TIME STEP. Good grief, it's not a grind. Doing 180 Stormblood fates or Shadowbringers raids as a one time step was WAY grindier. I hope SE throws books down for another step, just for everyone complaining. Even if it's like three books per relic. Because you know what you're back to after 18 demiatma? 1500 TOMES.
Also it's very obvious you didn't spend a lot of time in Eureka lol. Good video though.
No-RE-q1w: Yeah, I haven't had this much playtime in XIV in many years. They really cooked with this content. Having lots of fun leveling jobs, progressing my relic, getting rare drops, etc. Endwalker was missing this and it made me hate XIV for a long time. DT's MSQ did not help with that. But it seems like the game might be making a comeback.
If you ask me, this is the first content that should release instead of raids. Love doing their raids, but this content is so much more fun to me right now because it hasn't been done to death. All of the CEs are fun and hilarious, and I've been having a blast.
andrewclear8905: No, you can’t change jobs during combat, that would trivialize the content too much. Furthermore, I don’t believe you can change jobs during the Forked Tower.
I understand you want to be able to do what you want to do when you want to do it, but games systems have to have restrictions.
Being able to change the jobs anywhere on the field is better than going to some object in the hub and then configuring your loudout. Except... Eureka and Bozja let your try whacked out combinations, while Phatom Jobs do not. Except, Eureka and Bozja had stuff that was locked to specific roles, Phantom Jobs don’t.
SuperRamos619: This content is Eureka 2.0.with Bozja Critical Engagements. The phantom mastery system is more like Bozja as well, in that you turn experience into permanent power growth.
Garyof11: Surprisingly monk main combined with phantom monk feels better than I thought. I dont really see phantom monk appealing to others, but it actually supplements my current monk playstyle nicely with the gap closer/escape and damage mitigations/counters.
Lets1do1this: As someone who’s played for a long time now, it’s not great, they seem determined to push this instance / levelling thing like old skool mmo’s and it never really works, back in hw they reworked diadem into a big battle instance people didn’t like it, eureka although unique at first just became a boring grind, an instanced fate train and by hydratos I was actually dreding yet another one, bozja was the same thing slightly improved/ slightly less grindy but again most people didn’t really like or want it, all those instances are like a dodo now, and here we go again but now it’s very grindy again? although I like the very basic idea of phantom jobs it’s massively flawed in many ways, and yes there are some good fights but when it comes down to it it’s another grindy fate train re-skinned, I mean atma stones are back for relics… I think it shows the state of the game and why it’s losing so many subs atm, and more importantly I think it shows how burnt out the devs themselves are after 10 years, i suddenly realised I was playing the content not because I was enjoying it but because I wanted to get the grind over and done with, it’s not the mmo I fell in love with years ago anymore, I think this is the beginning of the end for ffxiv being one of the top mmo’s they lost what 500k subs in a few months now which is crazy numbers, and their answer is a re-skinned bit of content that has never been hugely successful or even really liked in the past, it’s incredibly sad but I’m lost for words at this point nearly 12 years in now iam close to just calling it quits tbh
DP-fq7iy: Same old, recycled.
Soyboythoughts: I think im not enjoying my time because im already burnt out of how stagnant the game is. But i do get absorbed in it, just not as enjoyable as bozja when i was still hyped about this game. If ffxiv gave me occult cresent 3 months after dawn trail, i would be so happy right now. But a year later is like my dad getting me a ps2 after my mom divorced him. Yea its nice, but i wanted what we used to have.
ruka9700: Nobody tell him you only farm the atmas once and then its 1500 tomes a weapon
Brahmsonite: I think the PhJobs are a slam dunk. Demiatma and Job Shard drop rates, not so much.
I like how FF5 it is. Bozja was a sequel to instanced zoning, Croissant Island is a sequel to being FF5-on-main. I do think the story could be way better though. Coulda shoulda given our allies a real intro like it was the start of an action film. They should be more distressed at being trapped here. There's ruins and signs of various ships wrecked and that lack of signs of people having lingered here. The crew should be out exploring, showing up in FATEs and gradually disappearing from camp. Shit should be spookier.
But whatever, I'm just here to grind out these excellent PhJobs. Hopefully they'll keep these and make story the goal next time. (Someday it might be nice to live in a world where they tried to do gud at more than one aspect at a time.)
