GloriousJP: It's because any money the Square Enix cash cow that is FF14 rakes in, doesn't get put back into FF14. It goes to all these other projects that will either never see the light of day or will fall on their ass a month after release. They need to take financial chain off FF14 and until that happens, the game will never be as great as it once was.

NatiiixLP: JP culture is 100% never complaining about companies. Consumers are slaves to the corporations. If you don't like something, it's your fault, but the people who work at the company are professionals, so they must know what they're doing and what's best. That's the mentality. You can see it everywhere. No criticism allowed, no room for discussion. If a "successful" corporation makes a decision, then it must be right by definition, and they can do no wrong. That's why they suck Nintendo off so hard as well, even though they'd been putting out lukewarm rubbish for a solid 20 years at this point.

This is largely the reason why Japan fell off so badly over the past half a decade since their rapid rise to the top in terms of technological innovations in the post-WW2 era. Customers are not allowed to complain, companies just make whatever crap they want with zero regard for logic, and now they're struggling terribly, and they're drowning economically. That's why you don't see Japanese electronics pretty much at all anymore. No one in Japan has a smartphone made by a Japanese company, because everyone has an iPhone. Sony, etc. completely died because they couldn't keep up. Now all they make are overpriced TVs, but even there they're being decimated by Korean companies. Games are much the same -- no innovation, ignoring player feedback, it's all the same issues.

Verd254: Glad he made the comparison between 14 and 16. Honestly, 16 did a massive amount of damage to my perception of 14. For the longest time I thought the constraints of the MMO genre were holding them back. Turns out, no. Somehow 16 has the same glaring flaws as 14 does despite the single player format and massive amount of money put in to it. Just made me realize none of the issues I have with 14 will EVER get fixed.

Puduck1er: XIV is slowly getting better on all front (except story for some reason). Issue is how slowly... Game not improving fast enough is why I unsubbed : It shouldn't take more than a decade to fix UI/social features/Shitty netcode.

KirionF: I've been having problems with the game since DT and have spoken with a lot of people who saw some their friends slowly disappear and quit the game and they all echo the same sentiment.

"The only reason I don't quit the game is my House and my friends/FC."

And the more I think about it, the more I start to ponder how sad that actually is. Being tied to an activity you no longer enjoy because you're afraid of foregoing your social bonds since they won't follow you wherever you go... But hey, I'm one of them too.

I actually ended up quitting FFXIV after realizing Occult Crescent wasn't gonna be leveling content, a MASSIVE miss on CBU3's part imo. I was already on hiatus, and that content was gonna be what brought me back for a while so I could level my other jobs from 90-100 while hopefully having fun doing something new. So I let my sub lapse, and now I've been playing the shit out of GW2, which does a much better job at being an MMO than FFXIV. It's not perfect by any means, but CBU3 and SE should definitely take some notes.

feniu10: I fully agree. I come from GW2 and some things are just done in FF14 like the ability to just queue up to a dungeon and blast through it. But shit like merchants? in gw2 I can summon one, or I can double click an item that takes me to a zone that has everything I need for inventory management and return back where I left off.

in FF14 I need to recall to a city and go to several places to change glamours, sell my shit, I need plugins to even know if my loot is worth anything. My glamour dresser is limited to 800 items because god forbid I want to collect every skin in the game. I can't put a glamour dresser in my house either cause the game would blow up. Seriously, this game needs like a realm reborn(again)

zordiarkdarkeater8625: You don't need alts you can have ALL jobs on 1 character, and thats a HUGE for many people that most other games are not doing.

Also it has waaaay better and cooler Combat Animations then most MMOs out there.

Its in game story is also waaaaaay above the average MMO stories out there pretty much on top.

FF14 have MANY outdated systems that would be good if they would update them, but it also has reeeeealy good stuffs going for it that other MMOs still yet to do and all this while its a 14 year old game.

Heck, I enjoy it more playing FF11 which I played on and off for 20 years.
