Shopping Cartecho_9835: Oh shit! The mad baby is back with cigarettes and milk!
closurehascomex: Whatever dev is making these achievements isn't thinking about it at all, they're just throwing shit at the wall.
Border-t9j: I am a completionist, I love getting 100% in all sorts of games, and I would love it in FFXIV as well if square didn't constantly produce these outrageous achievements. It honestly takes the fun out of wanting to get 100% out of a piece of content because I know I will never get these achievements. Achievements to me should be awards that say "Hey! You completed all the content we have on offer! here's a little something to show that you did it!". Getting 1000 happy bunny coffers is just arbitrary grind to keep a very small minority of people subbed for longer. BUT if these people love the game so much that they would do this then they would stay subbed anyway so what even is the point!
SonicPhantom89: You could read the phone book in that voice and I'd listen all day
BuntyRL: Last time I was this early, babies weren't mad or small yet.
darshanarev: To this date I still don't understand why they didn't just improve the Bozja format
mkoopman172: Dang, this video came out quick! I was in your North Horn instance yesterday and was in a FATE with you when you hit lv40 lmao
TheBlackMage9: One thing that I've found to be a big upgrade from South Horn is the currency/armor upgrades. Sure, if you want to target farm gold coins it's still weird and annoying, but in South Horn, once you get all the silver coin jobs and a full set of 1 gear, silver coins (and gold coins once you also get all those jobs) are practically worthless. Like, you can buy FT:B entry tickets and phantom job consumables, but while still leveling jobs that's not very important. And to get 2 you needed both FT:B tokens and rng chest drops.
Meanwhile, the armor from North Horn lets you buy the upgrade items that can go all the way to 3 with your choice of gold coins, silver coins, or FT:M tokens, no RNG present. Eventually you'll run into the same issue with nothing important to spend coins on (albeit without needing entry tickets for FT:M, so it's just consumables), but that's much further down the line.
herebejamz: Aunt Tii was going through shock. She did nothing wrong.
Patron_Saint_of_Gobs: OMFG! Didn't know how bad I needed this!!! Keep on Keepin on Spides.
terraglade: Seeing leves get mentioned while im grinding Mor Dhona for the GC Leves... the trenches are real.
aleciaregister162: I will admit to being a scrub. But I quit south horn after two days, and have not been tempted to return.
Iurkidurki: As a fellow achievement hunter; I started to take a backseat when I saw the achievements added into Dawntrail.
- 30,000 accursed hoard
- 10,000 bronze chests
- 2,000 Pots
- 2,000 bunny chests
Like... don't get me wrong; I think the bulk of the achievements added into the game is not bad per se. Its just these outstretched ones is what makes me wonder if its worth even trying to do them. I've considered just not 100%ing achievements any longer, and decide to aim for a high score instead.
As Cider mentioned; some of these achievements take eons longer than finishing the actual content. Like, you could restart Occult Crescent 30 times over before these achievements are completed. Though I believe in essence these types of achievements are designed for "making money". I've looked into it, and found a recent interview from Yoshi P. He stated the reason why they made the fortune carrots so rare is because you get a lot of gil when you open one of the bunny chests. (Its like 100k to 300kish amount.) Then it clicked with me.
I asked myself on any of the >grindy< achievements, "How can I make gil from this?" and it starts to make a lot more sense. Achievements that have these stupid grinds is made for one or two reasons; making gil, and being available for new players who start way later down the line. For OC, you have to do FATEs and CE's to proc chests, therefore you are essentially helping newer players get their content done while you farm away for gil.
The whole ISSUE with this is that... gil is uh.. easy to make. So when I see myself and other hunters chip away at these achievements, it feels soul draining. If by chance you were not an achievement hunter, and you used OC as a money making activity; then it starts to feel a little more enjoyable doing the content. One of the things I feel the development team truly needs to do is find more ways to implement gil sinks that are not brutal, but enough to get people to play their game... properly. That is a whole can of worms I don't want to get into. I just wanted to share my perspective on the "why" they create these terrible achievements.
JazzHands: At least in bozja you had incentive to level alt jobs. Crescent has zero interactivity with other game systems and its despicable.
gLobbZ: Never let the field ops win
christopherbrickey3514: If I wasn't already going to give your video a like as a matter of course, I would have definitely given one for the Dire Straits reference.
NuRhoSquared: As someone who returned to South Horn last week after a long period of being busy with other stuff, I genuinely enjoyed the time I was spending there. I found it genuinely relaxing in a way that reminded me of Eureka (my favourite field operation) and from what I've played of North Horn so far (got my knowledge level to 29 and am only partially through the quests), I think Occult Crescent as a whole will almost certainly be my second favourite field operation.
As for why Bozja is in last? In part, the visuals don't do it for me, I don't care about the Duels so they may as well not be a factor for me and something about the FATEs and CEs in Bozja just... does not interest me in the slightest compared to Eureka or OC. And those are just the reasons outside of Bozja being the only part of FFXIV that has legitimately given me burn out.
So I'd like to say I've given fair enough reason for my disinterest in Bozja.
bananagher7555: So good it makes me want to shill for a unicorn.
atwitchyferret: I'm just saying, I've been doing North horn all week and I have not been wasting coffers. In about 300 coffers I've gotten zero carrots. I got quite a few in South horn so in my experience the drop rate has vastly decreased, although it is just luck.
simusar: They should let you buy fortune carrots with silver currency
doom-f7s: Around 12:30 is exactly why I prefer bozja/eureka fragment consumable system. The players who will absolutely not engage with this content enough to be considered in the conversation shouldn't be heeded. If a player can't be bothered to grind for thirty minutes for hours and hours of essences and then cant be bothered to use said essences why in the actual hell would we think these same players would bother leveling multiple masteries? When they announced the job system I knew it'd be a slog. Had hope but yeah no it's the most garbage unfun system. The jobs aren't fun, their no build variety, most are useless or just a singular extra dps button you mindlessly use. Compared to Eureka and Bozja where you actually built a kit with essence, two actions, potions, hell even extra phoenix downs back then that were instant. It's just not a comparison. What we have here is a hollow shell that the players who loved the content begged for and the players who hated bozja/eureka wouldn't bother with aside getting their glam relics and never returning anyways. Truly a waste of dev time
Ephremjlm1: I appreciate this video. This expansion i was really looking forward to the exploratory zone and it being an absolute failure and snooze fest made me completely stay unsubbed. Now I dont have to waste my money and time trying this out.
Im so bummed honestly. This is probably going to be the first time I dont pre-order an expansion. I wont believe the full set of changes until I see them. Like it feels like they dont give af about normal mmo players anymore and idk man its just sad.
kurosakikun96: Only thing keeping me going in North Horn is the main narrative at this point, and even that's taking a back seat to the relic, I honestly like the World Tour section for the final step, has strong Best Friends Forever energy from Heavensward's relic grind, and it effectively feeds getting another relic to the final stage as well because of all the tomes you get from the completion, so I honestly wouldn't of minded if they made you need to do it with every relic
TreborNotron: That Aunt Tii thing was hilarious, but almost certainly not intended, and reflective of the literal thoughtlessness of DT's writing.
argentpuck: That close-up on "I hope they don't" got me good.
adognamedsally: I am an OC enjoyer. I like that the map is bigger now, it gives slightly more transit time in between events.
greenwood9458: one thing not mentioned that i think is an improvement is the cost for gear, in the south one you need a lot of gold coin and tower material, in the north you can get it with only silver coin
