Shopping Cartunlimitedslash: the fun part is that ff11 didnt have this problem, housing was tied to simply existing and was instanced, they literally created a problem to sell you a solution
-DeadFunk: "I like this game. I just wish it was in a better state than it is currently" is something i can fully agree on. They should just skip the next expansion and take 2 years to fix the game lmao
KibaAzure: I gave up the dream medium I had in Shirogane when I quit the game recently. Had that house for over 6 years. That was one of the hardest decisions in my gaming career, but I just can't justify letting SE hold me hostage anymore.
DrakeyDeDuck: Just like real life, I'll never own a house in this economy.
perro79: What pisses me off is that the majority of the plots are taken over by BOTS. So they buy a house and never use it and just access it once to keep it from being demolished. I live practically alone in my medium house in Goblet on Cuchalinn. All the plots are bought out but its a dead ward.
jamesrusselleriii8284: Can't imagine why anyone would want to buy a house and be chained to a sub to keep your property if you decide to take a break.
azmakikian: Since they swapped to the lottery system I have lost 48 bids on large plots. Meanwhile I bought a small plot (with double the amount of bidders) on my first try. There is definitely something wrong with the system. We were promised a "large update to housing" during the 7.1 live letter as well ( including interior expansion. ), we have yet to see any large update and have been drip fed furnishings like an IV.
ricky_pigeon: in LOTRO you can just go to any plot and buy it instantly, make a guild, after 90 days you can buy a huge house next to your player house, your house belongs to all your characters and it has a storage box so you can trade item between alts. If you for some reason need another house, you can make a free trial account and then share all those housing permissions with your main account. You can pay the rent for 6 months so you can take a break, you can even give permission to a friend to pay your rent.
Then i go into ff14, i see a large house up for sale, i want to buy it. i then see a FC with level 15 alts going 1 by 1 to bid on it at the same time, because they dont need to rank up grand company in the FC, and then i know i am wasting my time and ff14 housing is the worst i've ever seen in any game.
mostepicpants6982: I feel like their addition of the Island Sanctuary for players is a missed opportunity for an instanced housing solution to the problem. Every player gets their own once they reach a certain point in the game, but it feels like many of the game's baked in ideas and 'theme park' ideas. They're introduced, updated, and expanded upon for a short time and then just left to rot on the vine, never to be touched or really updated again. It's a shame that it wasn't further explored.
JRJathome: I'm convinced the biggest issues housing faces are due to not being instanced and limited wards. People complain about the demolition timer and lottery system, but they're necessary evils that were requested by the playerbase originally from what I understand. WoW's ability to create new neighborhood instances as needed sounds like the perfect solution. I'd love to see SE implement something like that too if they could. Imagine if every maintenance included "We added 5 new wards to every housing district." Unfortunately, I suspect Blizzard's solution involves sharding, something that FF14 doesn't have implemented.
Grayald: I love to build and I never even wanted a house in this game because of how ass the system has been. And how restrictive the building is. But I inherited one from someone so I'm just using it for submarines.
They could make things better. But they won't because they want to continue this artificial scarcity because they want there to be a sense of prestige attached to owning one.
Couple that with how it's considered rude in Japanese culture to question one's seniors, and nobody that is working on the game that would actually fix it will speak up, because how DARE someone questions senpai!
Dyxid: Making matters worse, the only data centers that might have empty plots are all the "dead" ones that hardly anyone plays on. I've been on Dynamis for nearly 3 years, and we have fewer people playing on it now then in the first month of when I started on Maduin.
I have two Medium houses even, TWO via personal and FC. But it doesn't mean a damn thing when I've been largely playing alone this whole time with no friends, that the FC I made has been dead and defunct for almost a year now because nobody new starts here anymore, veterans have all consolidated to bigger and better FCs, and even if I just gave up the houses and transferred to another data center, they would just be scooped up by bots running massive submarine farms.
Which is something I feel would fix a large part of the problem overnight... NUKE GIL FARMING VIA AIRSHIPS AND SUBMARINES. And I say that as someone who has a airship and submarine, I'd much rather be robbed of that benefit if it helped fix things on the more populate data centers because that's the ONLY reason some asshole is running dozens of accounts to buy up entire wards; Because they're making back double if not triple the amount of money they're spending on subscriptions, I guaranteed it. Kill the gil.
mattfletcher2270: Typical ward atmosphere is dead & lonely. Even if the whole neighborhood is "occupied" you'll rarely see any neighbours at all. It fails at its own purpose.
Imo They need to scrap this housing entirely & just give us a small instanced island each where we can build our own houses, similar to Valheim or Enshrouded.
It would add several new dimensions for gameplay as we experiment with builds & go after the materials through crafting, gathering & rewards from various battle content.
mister_ious: IMO there's still space near the top of our island they could squeeze a plot in if they really wanted to go that route, but they should make current housing FC only and revamp the restrictions to reflect the change to make it even harder to exploit the system if they did go that route. I don't think they'd need to do much with the old system just focus on something new everyone can enjoy. I would take instanced housing over this because it's not like our neighborhoods are exactly busy & bustling with other players. Gatekeeping it behind an expansion would kinda suck, but at least they'd know people gotta pay & play to even get there.
This was a predatory business practice 10 years ago, but now it's just insulting because we all know there could be better even moreover when other games just as old ARE doing better. Plus, can't drop something like Island Sanctuary and say we can't have housing when that was pretty much everything, but the kitchen sink...and the house it was attached to apparently..lol..
KurosakiRuka: Im lucky enough to have a large house in shirogane bc i migrated early when a new server/world was added and bought it before or during endwalker. I love to decorate my house, i watched various videos online, made a portfolio of inspo pictures. All fine and dandy BUT im on console. No third party tools that can help me and make the decorating process easy. I had to learn all the tricks and glitches the hard and long way. Im now confident enough to make my house look fancy and have yet to decorate it again from ground up because of the new added layout feature. But it will take me months again. AND IT IS A F PAIN IN THE A** to do it all over again. Squere pls make decorating your house easy. Bc WTF is this.
DroChaku: It's not worth owning a house, I am trapped now paying subscription even though I don't enjoy playing the game anymore, if I stop paying they will take my house away.
rinshotin2521: I like the thumbnail you used for the video, it's really cute!
Max44321: Need mods to decorate with ease, like you need mods to fix any QoL issue this mess of a game has. And then if you wanna take a break from the game, say bye bye to your house and all that effort!
darmandez: 01:41 Am... Am i seeing that right...? 1.5k DOLLARS?!?
jaynfontain6635: What game are you playing? Open plots are everywhere now. With 0 bids...wards are emptying since DW. Soon the empty plots will be numerous enough for other players to give up their own houses. If my neighbor goes, I go.
jdedrington: I had over 900 million gil and roughly 11 years of history in the game when I quit last year. I've lost dozens of housing lotteries. They add new housing zones every expansion (6 now I think). Each area has 30 wards with 60 houses where roughly half are medium or large. That's just north of 12,000 houses TOTAL. On the entire server of potentially millions of players.
I wouldn't care if the entire agriculture mechanic used to make chocobo food wasn't gated behind winning one of these lotteries.
But hey, everyone can rent an apartment!
franny8189: I hope they let people remodel the interior, so you can have a small with the layout and slots of a large. I think they should delete "fight club" as much as I love the passive gold. The players that use in game loopholes to have multiple FC houses on the same server would have no reason to keep them. Neither of these would fix the system but it would help a bit...
ricardimension: I think ill be happy with an apartment lol
xicision2533: Love the energy, instant sub
vincentbeton: Maybe they should give a permanent instanced Housing Plot to everyone who buys a full year worth of subscription. That way they can boost sub numbers now and hope enough people forget to cancel a renewal once or trice
AC3handle: The inside of the house, is private instance.
The outside is a shared instance, and in reality, the two instances don't really connect.
