Should You Play FFXIV in 2026? Final Fantasy XIV

wagzwagerz: The nostalgia of this game. Almost dropped out of college because of this

BobBilly-gq8xy: im playing it right now for the first time its kind of slow to start but its not bad at all i like but i also like 11 and 12 also so i think it just came natural id like this one lol

likwidsage: Player since 1.0 here (2.0 proof in my profile). The best thing about the game is the variety of things to do. While other games make raiding the only real thing to do, ffxiv gives you a whole lot to do.

Just some points to add to the great video:

The crafting is like a battle job. You use skills to try to balance the amount turns and quality while trying to progress to 100%. They have their own weapons and armor.

The housing items are scattered throughout the game and are functional. There are clubs and venues in the game everyday to enter and just enjoy the ambiance while socializing with your server

Even if you can't own a house, everyone gets an apartment.

There are islands to take care of and make your own.

The Golden Saucer in the game isn't just a single thing, but a host for a myriad of things like fashion reports and home of a card based game that you'll find challengers around the world for.

There are "solo classes" (just 1 right now, but the 2nd coming soon!) too which are purposely over powered to help a different dynamic to fights.

There's an event ALWAYS going on that gives you cute minions and/or gear to glam with.

Content is evergreen, meaning you can always go to older content and enjoy them as they were. Something that helps a ton for new players as veterans will always join you.

The community is kindest community there is for a game of this size. (You can google the awards and nominations). People are willing to help each other and answer questions.

You can build relations with different tribes to unlock more mount and fashion as well learn more about the award winning story.

I have 10k hours in the game and I'm still doing and learning new things everyday.

_NecroPlay: it's a really well optimized game as well! it doesnt matter what specs you are rocking you can run this game even on a calculator lol !

hxfiz95_: As a longtime player, this kind of video helps me appreciate Eorzea and all the things we're spoiled with even more xD

jakoby256: I mean if you're brand new to the game and enjoy well written characters and good storytelling, go for it. You have hundreds of hours of story content. For veterans tho, there is not much to do. For some reason the devs refuse to innovate, they keep doing the same formula every expansion. it started getting stale at this point. Game is good, but the cracks are showing.

CMDR_Peter_Ariete: It was the nicest advertisement I’ve ever seen, thanks!

thelvamar: Have you guys heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV??

I love it, I just joined my first Free company today

Fortune02: Thanks for the video!

WizardManMerlin: I recently got back on to do patches 7.2 and 7.3 before the 7.4 drop and after catching up I was pretty bored because I (seemingly) had nothing left to do. The beauty of ff14 however is that there is ALWAYS something to do. During my dailies I spotted someone with a super cool reaper weapon that you can unlock by doing the Occult Crescent field dungeon which is so much fun. There’s always something new to do! And most of the time there are tons of people who are also doing it or are down to do it so no activity ever feels “dead”

HurricaneHektor: Free trial is for new players only, not available for registered users! :(

(I haven't played for almost a year, tried to get the free trial and was denied! LOL)

Guess I'll wait to start playing next month...X-Mas depleted my finances for the month ><

Thanks for the upload! :D

DeuzXMachina: As a long-term wow fan from it's very beginning, I've been looking for smth as engaging when wow went downhill. And ff14 exceeded my expectation - that game has incredibly good world and stories & the shadowbringer expansion brought me one of my favourite mmo storylines ever. The multiplayer content is great too, some bosses are a pure work of art - I can't imagine an encounter better than the flower power trial with a perfect blend of music, atmosphere, fight choreography and its place in the zone plot. I've been playing a lot from pre-shadowbringers till the end of endwalker and by that point had 3/4 jobs maxxed and pretty well geared. And despite all the pros of the game as well as my personal love for it I found that I don't want to play anymore for several reasons:

1) The combat system is kinda autistic: I've been raised on wow, gw and neverwinter online (along with almost every mmo which I just didn't play much) and got used to situations where you decide what spell touse next depending on the boss, phase, positioning etc. If I fck up my rotation - I just can mix up fillers a bit so I could pick it up and keep going. But in ff14 almost every class depends on strict and pretty long chains which just stops working if you fail any of the steps. So if you fck up - you have to start over. Add there long cooldowns which aren't weaved in easily. And the fact that most of the classes have 2nd chain happening at the same time which can also be fcked by by a tiny mistake or failed positioning. White mage and Red mage kept me going for a while since they are more reactive classes but then next cons kicked in.

2) The production quality: this one is a pro and a con at the same time: as I wrote before, storylines in ff14 are just 10/10 (even 11/10 for shadowbringers) but at the same time you should realise that in order to benefit from it you'd spend hours and hours watching cutscenes. And since you don't rly need more than 1 character, you wouldn't want to skip them coz you won't be replaying it. So if you have a lil bit of time for a quick mmo session - you won't get much of the actual gameplay. Most of the quests are 80% running and watching with occasional "kill 10 easiest enemies of your life" and a boss encounter at the end.

3) Daily routine: you have about 10 different encounters that reset extra rewards daily. Oc you don't need to do all of them coz only 2-3 have better rewards. But we're talking about mmo endgame - players here farm the hell out of the game in order to get every piece of extra reward they can. It's just a psychology of mmo genre - you know, fomo. And 90% of these daily dungeons/trials/raids are getting completed by a non stop faceroll run through, no challenge at all. But they still take a significant amount of time to finish so you spend like 2-3h a day just running through the same ez bosses bored af - and they don't even let you skip 5min cutscenes in some of them. The remaining 10% are excellent and basically the reason to play endgame.

4) Endgame gear doesn't rly change your playstyle: m be it's a wow thing but I've been tinkering with my build, gear and talents a lot to utilise some stats and set bonuses in wow. Every new piece of gear felt significant. In Rift your build had dozens if not hundreds of varieties. In NWO or TESO you had to actually decide between pre-picking your active skills basically compiling a unique build. But in ff14 you just get more stats and that's all. No variations, no alternative rotations, not additional effects. Once you reach gameplay - you just autistically try to perfect your designed by developers rotation (see p1) and cut some new gems from time to time.

5) PvP is an unbalanced mess. But it is like that in every mmo, except m be gw1.

6) All jobs - 1 char: being able to lvl any class (job) on the same character is awesome and I'm a big fan of it. However the content wasn't adapted to it so you could get stuck with a low lvl job for which you just didn't have any more quests left. There are world events and an infinite labyrinth that can do the job but it's - once again - boring af even for an mmo. Hopefully rebalance of xp fixed it for new players.

With all being said it's still one of the best mmo rpg out there totally worth playing if you never played it before.

Ink_T: Used to love Astrologian, loved the randomness and reactive gameplay but they changed it last time I was on feels less unique now. Had a blast while I was on though, might get back on again soon and play a different class.

FlorescuAdryan: I've been playing through this series, and now I am playing FF XIII-2 , so I am interested in this video. But then you said you are sponsored by Square Enix , while they have no money for a proper remaster, and i have to patch the game myself to work and not crash. So if there is another ff multiplayer game, and they needed to reboot the 2nd - j have no confindence in this game.

car-keys: Ad

constantinehex5386: as a 1.0 FF14 player myself, over the years its had its up's and downs. Weave had what a lot of people call WoW refuges over the years, the only prominent downside just like any other MMO, is dps que times holly what ever deity is the flavour of the month are the que times for dps lengthy minimum I've had to wait was 30 up to 2 hours on a bad day, I personally main paladin and my all time favourite Gun Breaker, i.e. Tanks, and occasionally run Sage, i.e. Healer. But out of the bunch of crazy people I run with we all have our preferred / mastered jobs. if your looking for a ball buster rollercoaster of a time, try out savage content. Just make sure you have an intervenes drip of caffeine... your going to need it. And like Lucky said, us in the FF14 Community 99% of the time will lend a hand to anyone, so if your new and interested jump in and shout your new, and you'll have a crowd around you like your the fresh new shiny thing on the market haha.

HazyGameVault: i think the problem is they asking for too much money im not paying for all expansions and months sub to play this and i bought all expansions too were in a new time where most money comes free now i dont mind the expansions costing money and yea trial doesnt mean anything for a returning player only new players the trial should be the new full on free to play membership for all players new and old imo and i def come back and if i want to play exclusive content then i would pay monthly sub i guess sorta like runescape

joelsmith7078: This style video should NOT be sponsored (by the company it's made investigating). Absolutely shameful.

ceesay2010: No its so Zzzzz

Honethite: Oh nice, another FFXIV upload, hope you'll continue to do more. Thanks!

thebum5231: I haven't been playing long, but I love my blackmage, only lv 50 but I'm getting there

jacqueslaflame2127: I'm taking a long break as a new player. Started ARR and finsihed it, then got to post ARR and realized how many quests there were before Heavensward. I read every piece of dialgoue up until I think the arc in Cortheas where you talked to that elf dude. I couldn't take it anymore and skipped all dialogue and cutscenes and got to Heavensward and just read a post ARR summary. Even now in Heavensward I'm finding it hard to not just see the game as a content rich MMO rather than a story driven game first, and maybe that's my fault but as someone who is busy I can't justify sitting through all that reading with the little free time I have to play video games.

UnannouncedMole: Are you the voice actor for Wedge in FF7R?

nevadathestruggler: Classes and raids are good thats why i play

AlexVoyd: Something that lucky ghost forgot to mention is that you need to play 500 hours of story... enjoy
