csrjjsmp: Occult crescent is great because everyone stopped farming the moon and now I can sell neon dyes for over 50k a pop again
1Mrstephen: Biggest problem is that Forked Tower isn’t accessible. They absolutely effed up with that one.
cassw_: Missing a CE thinking a pot will give me anything but magiked ribbons and materia. I just started skipping pots all together.
alexmmin: The thing with OC, I have the most disappointment about (apart from FT) is gold farming balancing - you HAVE TO BE warrior to effectively farm gold. You can sneak in as a shield healer in meta party, you can overgear a tank to run the ramp as good as solo warrior had day 1. And thats it. GL to everyone else.
And at the same time you cant farm anything near as effective in a party inbetween those 2. No duo, no lightparty - they are just screwed by the gold drop mechanics.
Bellemac: Shoutout to Aitherea for always uploading as I’m driving to get groceries and want something to listen to!!
4NSW3RM3: I think the biggest failure is both the lack of incentive to work together, and players just not really wanting to be social. SE can't fix the latter, but they could have done so much for the former.
fliptrix3618: I agree with you, it got old very fast & I have no drive to grind now that I‘ve finished my atmas.
I do think the map feels smaller than Bozja since you basically only go from aetheryte to fate, then return, and repeat. You don‘t walk directly from fate to fate, so you don‘t go off the normal path. No exploration except for when you initially explore the map
tyler5013: I think the map feels smaller because we are constantly teleporting around it so all the space between basically goes unseen as we rush to the next Fate. I have seen Fates with 5 people with 35mil health and then ones where almost the whole instance is there but it only has 7mil health so it dies instantly.
pkmnswampmaster: Yoshi-P Really looked at GW2 abandoning their Hardcore community for like 7 years and said: "I will never do that... Let me do that to the casuals instead"
I enjoy Oc personally, there are many things I personally disagree with you but I don't think it is productive to discuss them since in the end it is a preference more than anything.
Forked Tower was (In my opinion) a complete failure because not only was this not needed, at least not now... but everyone gets screwed. Casuals don't get a "normal" mode like CLL, Delubrum or Dalriada, and the hardcore enjoyers have to go through hours of trail and error just to get the same instance because you can't queue all together.
Let me clarify something before the 1 or 2 elitists pricks that don't think and always stain the image of the actual end-game players by showing up and start attacking people for not bowing down to hard content...
I love that FFXIV treats the hardcore community well, I'm glad that they are willing to try new things like Chaotic alliance, and I wish they continue to do so...
But they can't continue to turn their back on the casuals that are where most of the money comes from, like it or not anything past extreme trials is done by a minotiry of the player base.
You remember the big Wow Exodus? that happened because the player base was tired of beign mistreated by the devs. If we abandon the casual they will leave and that might make SE start askign themselves "Why do we put so much effort on Ultimates? if only barely double digit % of the player base will even try them."
Anyways that's my small rant to accompany yours Aitherea.
Dracounguis: Personally I don't think I would call it an exploration zone, just a grind zone.
matthewsnow3074: I crashed hard on OC when I realized FT is not for me. I was expecting a raid like CLL. I can't level alts here so I have no idea why I need to do this grind.
Also, all the old loot in here is just lazy. Not sure why causal players this expansion are only allowed to have old loot and dungeon gear you can't dye.
PapiKamikaze: FFXIV players: we need grindy midcore repetitive content
Also FFXIV players: it’s bad cuz it’s too grindy and repetitive BAD
stumpernek: I''m a casual player and went on a break right after I finished the Dawntrail story. Returned a couple of months ago and already stopped playing again. Leves on the moon and a somehow worse version of Bozja is not something I'm going to pay a subscription for.
BaithNa: I think players just created massive expectations for a throw away piece of content just because it wasn't in EW.
OC is just an optimized Bozja but you all made these field exploration zones out to be the WoW Classic for FFXIV but it's always just been a grinding instance that dies off in a few weeks after launch. Exploration zones aren't anything special and they were never the answer for these 5 month content droughts.
We need actual fun and replayable content, that should be the dungeons and raids of the game but they've become way too formulaic. The only thing that will satisfy the players and give this game some life is a revamp of combat/job mechanics. Let's hope the 8.0 rework is enough or this game could go from the biggest MMO on the planet during Shadowbringers to maintenance mode in just a few years.
catzalotATJ: I don't agree that on threwhole occult creacent is bad, but I think your critiques are very valid and wish the zone was more enjoyable to more people.
murknastie6698: Best criticism ive seen so far.. it’s like a treadmill with no sense of adventure. I’m so disappointed
SirCharlieSan: Honestly, OC was the only thing that had the potential to bring me back to 14. My friends and I all agree its not quite worth it.
jonsweat1981: I agree. I'll never get into FT as I don't have 3 hours to jump through hoops just to get in there with a team.
No single battles after fates? Can't level my characters? RNG in gold spun from chests? No pity system to buy oracle after 50 tries on that fate?
They really did go backwards with this. The CE are fun, but after doing them all 30 times each you just hit a wall due to everything else. I didn't last a week with this place.
ThornedLily: I felt let down by both of the new things we got with this expansion - the moon ended up just being Levequest: The Zone, and now we've got FATE: The Zone. Zero exploration, everything is very strictly "run to the next marker as fast as you can - actually nevermind, it's gone now". The last thing from my list of everything I was looking forward to is Beastmaster, I can't wait to see how they disappoint me with that one lol.
pUREsTORM9267: The issue with parties disbanding after CEs is not something I've observed happening much (especially after the first day or two) over here on Light DC. Perhaps it's more of an NA problem.
I'd say the 3 big issues IMO are:
1. FATE scaling
2. Fixing the drop rates on some of the items on the loot table, the new shark mount being the most egregious example.
3. Make ciphers considerably cheaper. I think most people's reluctance with trying FT is the cost of entry. If you going to keep getting walled on the first boss, spending 600 silver per attempt is rough.
Mako_SOLDIER: You don't even get phantom job exp from each boss kill in the tower btw. Maybe at the end...but I have yet to reach there and I can't imagine it would be worth it vs doing CEs. I'm 3 bosses in and it's just a miserable experience. The entry system is designed to be casual...and yet the raid has body checks. I've been so frustrated trying prog because you NEED a premade with discord to have any shot to clear at all. It is impossible without bringing certain jobs, set ups, and communicating. There a section I would say involves more coordination than M6S adds. It's like hours of waiting for instance prog to get 48 people into the same instance and then you have to wait for weather on top of it
Dracounguis: At this point I'll probably wait for the final zone of the Occult Crescent to open. Because I assume there will be catch-up mechanics so my grinding will be more efficient. And whatever story there is will be more coherent because I won't have to wait months in between the story chapters.
Dyxid: That's the reason I ultimately quit, because as a casual player, I don't feel like Final Fantasy 14 is for me anymore (and its debatable if it ever was).
I still watch certain videos about it because I like the Youtuber behind them (Aitherea and Rinon included), but the game its self? It's been almost two months and I'm "playing other games" just like Yoshi-P kept insisting on.
Watch_over_us: They should raise the required atmas but make them drop 5x more often so it feels like you're actually making progress for them.
And not just wasting your time.
People leaving party and also mashing the fates down is def a player problem. Proper etiquette had always been to wait for most of the instance to show up before starting. Phantom jobs > lost actions on the whole, except that some of the phantom jobs just straight suck and are barely redeemable
blabbitybla2780: the constant leaving/disbanding parties was driving me mad honestly, i had so many parties where the lead just stopped inviting people until it dwindled to nothing that i just started making my own, at least that way i can keep it consistently full-ish
Tsugandate: I didn't mind the grind TOO much, already leveled the phantom jobs (and yes, they're very badly designed as a gameplay system overall) and got a full 1 set, but with FT being required for 2? nah... I think I'm done with the content until the next update, which iirc will be almost a year from now?? so yeah, that really sucks, and it shows that what they said about taking the good stuff from eureka and bozja wasn't really true, they took one step forward and at least 2 steps back
GrimmyReaper69: Explains why occult cresent feels like eureka, this whole expansion has felt like stormblood. Not a good showing at all. it's the least liked of the patchs.
