New Phys Ranged Job Teased! Theories and Speculation FFXIV Evercold

damingchen7497: It’s a flute weapon and that uses sonic/sound to control attack

Saltcaller: It's called Zephyr. It uses a crossbow and a bird to attack

redhattraveler: Honestly if the weapon was just the falcon but you use different ruins that effect the falcons attacks would be cooler

krisi00n: The wand is probably one half of the weapon, the other part would be used on the other hand, so should be something that can be used with a single arm. So yeah, probably a crossbow and maybe it can be fused with the wand to become something else, just because that's something they would do.

DevinGaughan: The click sounds like snapping one of the toys off her waist and the screech sounds like magically bringing a toy toy to life. Toy Story-esque Puppetmaster job, maybe "Animator".

Remember the Ranged Physical jobs are all entertainment-based: BRD=song, DNC=dance, MCH=games, new job=Theater? (puppet show), with the weapon being a baton to instruct them like a marching band conductor. Maybe that's why they gave us the conduct emote from PvP recently. A little hint.

I'm excited to see what it ends up actually being, because I'm sure we're all wrong and way off.

dokb1942: i'm screaming for a dual pistol phys ranged, and i know im not the only one wanting more guns. After hearing Soken's hints and digging into the trailer i am 99% sure she is the new job because the first sound effect you hear is when the rune kicks off, the second sound effect is the falcon flying away. the rod could actually be a bolt for a crossbow so that is a possiblity, and though i am sad its not dual pistol, a falconer would be a cool job... also the gloves she is wearing are VERY similar to what IRL falconers use, and anyone that handles large raptors like falcons, to protect their arms when they land.

X-Griever: It's a crossbow bolt with an enchanted tip as you can see it's pointed at the end, it marks the targets for different attacks

lanisolfire5692: The rune is the symbol for the planet neptune/posiden. Not sure if that means anything but the connection to a water god tracks.

Sohi1388: Kinda feel like the wand is some kind of rune engraver and you use it to mark targets for the bird to attack, different runes for different abilities etc… and I hope they give it the dash ability from OCs ranger, preferably the same distance as smudge, and the stun ability. Obviously it could work the same if it was a crossbow and the bolts mark targets but… idk, I just hope the bird can follow like carbuncle, use the pet hotbar, and also perch on your arm.

frankymr2: Sounds like lighsaber lol. But one thing it cannot be is magic. Because ot would be a range magic dps and its supposed to be a range fisical dps. Not magic.

immersion9880: I’m hoping it’s a dual wield crossbow and not a single arm crossbow. Would like a more “weighted” phys range job.

guardiand1411: I think the weapon is a FLUTE cause most snake dance to flute music.

Poki_XIV: I look forward to it regardless as a phys ranged main. I'll literally take anything at this point.

I'd like it to be Falconer because of this scene but never really thought beyond the falcon.

But a crossbow sounds good. Could be a phys magic hybrid that leans towards phys? like an opposite of red mage.

Either way i look forward to whatever they have in store for us for phys ranged.

OrphDiscord: Great speculation friend! One thing that I notice a lot of people (including you lol) don't seem to take into account is that the job ABSOLUTELY will be based in the Source in some way. We will pick up the job in Eorzea, so it can't really be too tied to the Fourth directly. Bastion for example is from the Northern Empty Roe culture, it just so happens that some people in the Fourth will develop their own version of it, hence Trailer Bastion Dude.

hasseo195: Wouldnt Boomerrang be to similary to the dancer?

Raxbshot: Its definitely a falcon related job.... but that item has nothign to do with the job. The girl doesnt know how to use it and is suprised by the rune that appears, and so is the bird. My guess is that the bird flies away and will fly to its actual owner... OR the girl is the owner (on her arm there is a falcon motif on a circle thing) but the wand thing isnt anything to do with the job.

Physsyra: Falconer/Trainer like FFX-2 is the vibe some are saying, while as a long time PSO2 player I immediately go and see it as Summoner/Waker and a Harmonizer weapon. Though I get the small wand would be more of an Off-Hand tool in this case with the likelihood of a Crossbow as the main weapon. Given that Yoshi has said in the past that the current architecture of XIV make Pet Jobs rather unintuitive and hard to program now (Beast Master not withstanding), I could see the Falcon aspect go like how NGS changed Summoner going into Waker. Tie the Falcon to the attack animations directly, and non-combat idle animations.

iResonate: You say mmo players don't want more guns as if everyone just didn't just lose their minds at dual gun shields I definitely want dual pistols. Is it going to be that? Idk

Cobro-m9x: I'm thinking the wand is something that controls water. When she has it pointed in the air, it somewhat looks like it's gathering moisture

cabl7787: If we go by the sounds, it definitely seems like it's a falconeer or something of the sort

glyndarling: If you watch only a few moments more...you see that same rod being thrown and retrieved like a boomerang. It's Riiiiight after we see Bastion being displayed.. So, there is that.

1EnZBosS1: Falcon will work the same as automaton queen from machinist is my guess. With a crossbow as its main weapon.

Braven-j7m: 6:59 I think thats a picture of a Falcon on their arm, the metal armband that looks like a pocket watch, I also thought they were wearing falconer gloves but Ithink they are welding gloves as they have two instead of one

Braven-j7m: Oh, what if that is not a wand but those are the bolts the the crossbow? I am just guessing at this point though

MMOPC78: I hope the screeching sound is actually the wand transforming in a trident. The second sound could be an ability of the job. A trident based slingshot weapon would be rather neat and different for sure.

One odd thing in the trailer. Right before the WoL goes into shroud form: for a moment the wand spins through a couple of frames and then is suddenly a scythe. Now: I know I'll probably be called crazy or stupid for suggesting this; but, what if the new physical ranged job's abilities aren't entirely new? What if the new physical ranged job is an actual unlimited version of Blue Mage; but, the player selects the abilities and skills from jobs they have already leveled. In ARR: we see the WoD using similar and often different abilities and skills. This is the same for his companions. What if the new physical ranged job allows players to "borrow" skills and abilities from other physical ranged jobs: ie Casacde from Dancer, Tomahawk Throw from Warrior, etc. Rather than a specific weapon: they weapon transforms to fit the skill or ability being used. This isn't a new concept in FFXIV as it happens in ShB regardles of what role you play (White Mage doing a massive Tomahawk Throw of Ardbert's Ax as an example). This also happens during ARR. A Dancer doesn't use a chakaram against Lahabrea: the cutscene defaults back to a starting city job.

I'm not saying they would: but, they could similar to how Graha isnt a tank, a DPS, or a healer; but, an all rounder. The new job could be DPS focused.

georgecarter6978: Its gonna be called Artificer, Cid will also become that class I bet

michaelstiller2282: I'm going with it's a binding rod. So much of final fantasy XIII is being applied to Ever Cold. Yeah, the girl is curious about the weapon. I imagine she's some kind of scavenger. The falcon is her pet. The falcon is kind of interested with the weapon. Probably because it found it or stole it, and gave it to the girl. The binding rod was Oerba Dia Vanille's weapon in FFXIII. I think they made it more fancy. So its a water whip. It works like a lightsaber. You turn it on and a water whip comes out of the handle. Which could be charged to fire shots. i really would love a Oerba Dia Vanille kinda character. That said, occult crescent, already has a class tied to a hawk, (ranger). So i don't think its a falconer. In the first fan fest. Whip was one of the weapons shouted out. To which Yoshi said. That would be hard to animate. Which sounds like a diversion to me. Setting doubt to that being the weapon. In the video, when she points it at the sky, she's trying to turn it on. Which means she knows what it is but isn't supposed to have it.
