Lets Talk About Heavyweight Savage in FFXIV

couldbeaname5138: best raid series

ApexGale: glad someone agrees with the idea of a bit of organized chaos like honey b's alarm pheromones 1 and vamp's 2nd adds. so much of endgame raiding realistically boils down to just rote memorization. having mechs that are just "adapt and overcome" adds some spice to the encounter.

yeoldpubman: "before talking about Idyllic Dream, we need to talk about parallel universes"

Rotomoo: I'm stuck in m11s enrage hell.

(update, I'm finally out)

cruye9633: the main issue with m11s in PF is that the DPS check is "moderate" if you have a normal amount of gear

if you didn't get any gear, because you're playing in pf and got unlucky, you're just SOL until next reset unless you feel like gambling you'll find a party with more gear to compensate for your lack of it

emerald6597: m9 being smooth to reclear in pf would be so nice wouldnt it

doolenny9458: Funny thig about m9 is I feel she is the toughest of the first Turns for a static as you basically just need to do everything by yourself so can’t really rely on call-outs

But she is the easiest for pf as that’s already how pf works

arbrawlchamp: I was a little disappointed the wrestling concept got fully dropped from M12. But other than that, fantastic series, and it really salvaged a lot in Dawntrial.

Kionu-: Hard agree on almost all points, I loved Heavyweight and think most of the fights really shined, and M12S part 2 is my new favorite encounter even if reclears might not be the most thrilling. Truly a masterpiece of a fight.

Oddly enough I'm kind of a sucker for M11 - it was the standout execution-heavy fight of the tier and I feel like that's needed somewhere in a tier. I enjoyed the weapon dances, snappy safespot identification, and reacting to RNG mechanics quickly. That said, I think 3rd fights can have high execution requirements without being as bland and predictable as Tyrant ended up being. Halicarnassus savage in deltascape 3 is still my gold standard and I hope to one day see a return to that form - high execution, puzzles, and varied mechanics shotgunned out by the boss rapid fire, with a giant medley of it all at the end. Tyrant easily could have incorporated these with creativity, and I share your hopes for improvement to the 3rd fights of the future.

Fantastic video, love your work.

Auesis: I actually love M11 as a melee. It's not particularly hard but dancing around him for all the weapon mechanics while trying not to lose uptime is a pure flow state.

LaCoocaracha: Maybe an unpopular opinion but I really like tight execution fights like m11. As a monk I had to scratch and claw for every bit of uptime and when we cleared it felt so good

lushen952: M11S was bad. It felt like a return to Endwalker style raids, almost structured exactly like P7S with fairly fast paced but easy mechanics for the first 50% and then bombards you with pixel perfect puzzle 'mechanics' of absurdly random positions and movements designed to artificially extend prog time. No one in PF is thinking about the mechanics in the 2nd half they're just following a raidplan cheat sheet just like EW raids were designed. Really disappointing in that especially after M10S which was just peak design. Especially when the first 50% is effectively just his weapons over and over again I think they didn't spend any time on it.

TOGCMelon: "Moderate DPS Check" Tell that to the literal 0.01% enrage wipe I had in PF, something I didn't even know was POSSIBLE until this fight came out :')

drazyor: M9S easy to reclear in PF? No sir, no absolutely not, somehow (on Light DC) it seems like 80% of the players killed her on week one by sheer luck when I see the amount of mistakes done, mistakes really hard to forgive too tbh, especially when you see her with 2 or 3 stacks already because players can't even dodge the very first arena left/right top/down like seriously?

People missing their tower in Hell in a Cell when there is absolutely no thinking involved besides knowing if you're group 1 or 2 and the CW/CCW priority. And I won't even bother talking about the puddles magically appearing near the middle because some people were in a hurry to use their dash skill. No i'm sorry, this fight is easier than MANY extremes and somehow party finder still find many (not so inventive) ways to screw up the simplest mechanic..

lightninggamereviews: Sugar riot was only fun for hardcore raiders. Most midcore people did not like the adds phase. It was too tight for a savage level experience. One of my old raid team members told me he wanted there to be 2 add phases. Very similar phases, but every monster has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced health. The add phase for m6s was not fun for many people. I say this as someone who cleared the fight on day 4 of raid tier. We cleared quickly but we were not having fun.

NagusaStan: Arcadion is without a doubt my favorite raid tier when considering M1S-1M2S

However, every raid tier I am reminded how insane PF when it comes to learning and understanding mechanics. You'll find a PF that can easily do all of the hardest mechanics that are unique just to the fight, but will wipe because someone doesn't know how to bait proteans properly. Truly a FFXIV moment

GarrettWinkler-j8k5i: I think static aetherletting was the intended strat honestly, not an oversight by the team. Standing in the aoes and then running out after you drop your X or feels kinda clunky and the game continually opts for "wait for the first set then move in to the new safe spot" mechanics which is how you resolve it with the static strat.

CactuarJack007: I think the biggest issue with PF in M9 is the lack of reps. My group cleared in 12 pulls day 1. So by the time we got back around to clearing it we felt we had forgotten half the mechanics due to the sheer amount of time spent on progging the other fights. So we took about 7 tries to reclear M9, but were able to one shot M10 right after

rokesilva: the best part of the tier was the commentator lol

sad to see him go

MrLyramion: Reminder that m11s can have 8 ppl with 0 lootluck meet in PF. Makes a lot of difference compared to a gearpooled static.

boringfactor8792: This is prob the only raid tier I'll miss, let's see how they do in 8.0

Xandemar51: Heavyweight's mount is awful and doesn't have everything burns

KevinHorrox: I'm proud that I saw and figured out the static aetherletting during my pf prog. But the team saw racers do the mario karting, so we were made to follow the racers. I'm glad someone else released the tictac and made me feel vindicated :D

italian504: To me, this is FF14's "Ulduar" from world of warcraft currently.

audeng8485: I’m used to you having a lot of negative feedback about FFXIV’s battle content, so it’s nice to see how much you loved the Arcadion. I feel the same, I’ve loved every turn!

hmaster24: M12S looks like a cool fight shame Ill never get to do it.

bankai7623: Rinon is very objective but his take on m11s is his giga raider coming out.
