Shopping CartXaliyaKruonis: HI former Out of Boundser here (before they neuterred a lot of the methods T-T)
A lot of the collision you're talking about in this video is what folks there referred to as "Landable Collision", a spot where you can land your mount where they maybe never intended for you do be able to do so. Most collision if reached in theory can be walked on, and that boat is walkable on if you manage to finesse your way out of bounds.
Very minor nitpick about verbiage, but very interesting and well done video.
kzyrichm: To my recollection... ARR flight was worked on IN STEALTH MODE, by the devs as they were bored af during the covid pandemic. They were finally out of quarantine and asked the upper management something like "would you think it would be OK to implement flight in ARR?" and the management, including YoshiP said (unaware of what they would say next) "no, we have neither the time nor the money to do that work" and the team of sneaky devs said to them "What if it was already completely finished and ready to implement?" receiving the expected quizzical response, followed shortly by the go-ahead... we as players got a HUGE surprise a few weeks later. And this made the sightseeing log MUCH MUCH EASIER.
Tashiro64: being part of an out-of-bounds community discord, I can tell you I've landed on absolutely every spot you shown in this video haha. Also, some of them indeed have collision exploit that allow you to fly into the emptiness <3
keiichimorisato98: The lighthouse in the thumbnail was originally supposed to be a dungeon but it qas scrapped. There are a lot of places in 2.0 that were originally supposed to be the entrances for dungeons. Sometimes the entrance was moved for one reason or a other, and in some cases the dungeon was scrapped due to time.
LordoftheDice: I feel like the platforms at Crescent Cove are structural as opposed to being regularly used for people to stand on. There to make sure the flag doesn't get blown over from high winds. The flag likely meant to behave as a windsock showing the direction of the wind or maybe a high-visibility buoy to keep ships from running into the rock should visibility be low. You could maybe use a ladder from the docks to get over to the platforms to perform maintenance, but it likely doesn't happen often enough to warrant a permanent means to get onto the rock.
TheLittleCuteThing: former mapbreaker here
a TON of the game has collision and has had it since before heavensward even existed.
Most objects have a movement layer tied to them, And a lot of the generic terrain (if not all) that was sculpted has collision as well. (maybe the terrain that is sculpted is actually an object but with a zone texture to it?) but most generic flat layers are not-walkable surfaces.
and there are places outside of the mini-map itself that you could walk across for AGES but somewhere around when they introduced flying they started screwing with how characters were detected when they go beyond the boundary of the minimap and it stopped reporting position data to other players, Then in another later patch it stopped letting you go to those invalid coordinates entirely (im assuming they stopped others from seeing you go there by flagging it as an invalid POS state but then got a bunch of errors serverside from people actually there, and then just decided to disable it clientside so the errors would go away)
IF you see an object in the distance dont assume its not real, Start thinking about ways to escape the map, get to it, and STAND ON IT! This is the OOB way!
medigoomnis: In spite of how amusing some of these are, it's definitely preferable to everything-full-scale and fully-realized with huge impacts on performance like in 1.0. Bad, bad engine, tiny ishgard and other perspective items are fine with me given that lol...nowadays, they could revamp a lot of this and get by with a lot more, though.
mollyhertel6893: when i run around and do stuff its easy to forget how beautiful this game really is
MouseFGC: Finally a cozy top ten list series for FF14! I love your videos so far, please keep this up!
TheTiger0618: I really liked the camera work in the video, the way you captured things looked real nice!!
If you don't mind sharing, could you tell how you managed some of the more cinematic shots? I'd love to try my hand at something similar myself!
tsunderemerc1138: My favorites are some of the simple natural walls like around the Black Shroud to help break the map up. Reminds me of breaking out of Halo CE levels like 343 Guilty Spark and Silent Cartographer to stand on top of natural geometry you’re really not supposed to and see the level from above.
mimdows: you definitely speak to a kid on one of those bridges in the pre-requisite side quests for doman enclave restoration! i replayed those recently
FF-tp7qs: Bacl when Heavensward first came out, I found a place wherr you could land a mount in Churning Mists tgat you weren't meant to be able to walk on and therefore lacked a solid boundary so you could walke off the edge of the island and land on the invisible border at the bottom of the map and walk around on it. It got patched out later
vocalparasite: i love ur videos so much please keep making them
unlimitedslash: among the interesting things, i never understood why they allowed us to dive in the bronzelake, i haven't been able to find a single thing in the depths of the lake, not a fishing spot, nothing.
MakioKuta: Flying around and landing on random things in ARR is so much fun. Doing MSQ I loved hanging out on the bridges and towers in Mor Dhona. One of my favourite spots to go is around x10 y17 in Western La Noscea.
I'm going to have to check out some of these spots in your video, because I've never stood on them lol
ggEmolicious: I didn't know I needed this in my life...until I saw it.
WineRedEchos: if you go to the pirate cove north west of aleport in the sahuagin area you can land on their boats and raised paths.
willw1991: Awww, what an adorable miqo!! :D
Triggerpug: love these videos. my favourite ffxiv content!
moonlitwyvern6840: The Crescent Cove Rock has always been one of my favorite spots like that, such a silly place that you'd expect to not be able to land on.
MaisieSqueak: Why do all Americans call it the "Golden" Saucer?
It's The GOLD Saucer!
Solid gold.
Not gold in colour.
But gold.
Why is your nation obsessed with adjusting names????
cymrodave: Saw the thumbnail and thought, wonder if he’ll have the outcropping next time those giant statues. Was not disappointed
jimmymittens: All the tree houses remind me of how theres docks all over and some of them just seem so out of place.
Mangoekaki: More thingies while I cook yippiiieee
TheBandTurtl: Yay, more thingies!!
futurepastnow: The Thal statue under the Highbridge is one of my favorite places to afk out in the world
