Shopping CartTobeh: My lobster is too buttery and my steak too juicy
Sunshine-tu6cm: "Dude actually the design being bad and clunky is good dude I actually love my Gnashing Fang drifting my entire rotation yeah it's clunky and obnoxious but that means its more complex and that makes it harder so that means its better
KingNirada: I'm starting to think the FFXIV forums are just filled with trolls intentionally trying to make the game worse because they know the devs actually check the official forums. I can't imagine anyone would willingly go through that annoying to navigate website for actual helpful feedback alone.
techdeth: It felt wierd at first just because its new ... i like how it feels constantly active and you arent in danger of COMPLETELY fkking your rotation by simple mistakes or downtime.
HeartabyssKoi: So I actually talked with a very casual FC member of mine who plays gunbreaker and he does not go into extremes or savage. He does not like the changes and basically the root cause of his distaste for the changes is “more cartridges means I have more to think about and it’s too much to do at once” and “the job just feels too fast and I press things too often”
I genuinely think there are people that LIKE pressing 1-2-3 more and like the feeling of playing a job more than how the job actually feels to play.
Paintguy75: If the playerbase isn’t complaining about something, they aren’t happy.
Martynus7: I'm still using the same old rotation minus the stress on cartridges.
DrakeRazgriz: Play GNB a lot and I love the changes
DBACLX: Hmm, let me preface my comment by saying - Yes, GNB became widely more flexible and therefore accessible and in terms of QoL those changes were amazing. And i dont really care about the potency nerfs, i actually think that all tanks should deal the same amount of damage.
However, i was quite fond of and had a lot of fun with the toxic relationship me and cartridges had before.
It required me to engage with my job and the fight in a highly personalised way to make the most out of the broken Gunblade i was dealt or rather choose willingly over the Axe or the Greatsword.
And i did that, because succeeding with it always felt way more rewarding to me personally. Like i went out, hunted and prepared my own meal, in a sense.
Now, while the rotation stays the same, it feels flat and stale. My entire Burst Window gets handed to me on a silver plate, just for being alive and the filler rotation between No Mercy Bloodfest feels so vastly disconnected from everything.
Don't get me wrong, i'm truly happy for everyone that now finds love for this job and enjoys playing it. But to me, its just lost love and my Ex asking me if we can stay friends.
UnstoppableSmooze: Speaking of clunky, playing summoner on m8s was so painful because every downtime window was at the odd minute, so it pushed your two minute back because bahamut wouldn't be ready because phoenix is off cool down
DefinitelyNotAMymmik: It feels so much better now tbh, I feel like I’m being punished less for missing rotation parts
cherry6051: As a GNB main for multiple ultimates (all except UWU) and savage tiers with high barses, I absolutely ADORE these new changes. It introduces so much flexibility in long, multi-phase fights like ults. Previously, you had to beg the party to hold at certain killtimes otherwise you would not have enough cartridges to enter your next burst. However with these changes, it introduces a fair bit of flexibility to counter that. Even better, the rotation actually feels way better to play and not as janky anymore. Love love LOVE these changes!
Jeycht: "This guy doesn't do savage" He indeed doesn't do savage, nor raid24, ex or even normal raid. Only dungeons. The last ex done was the 3 first in Endwalker, gray parse.
Edit: Damn I just checked every people who complained in that video. The either didn't do any savage or ex or they are clearing super late with low parse.
lightwargod: I'm with you on the the current max level and state of the Job, but... You really should consider how it affects lower level content. You can't claim Ultimate is the best content in the game because it also stays relevant the longest while simultaneously hand waving away the criticisms of how a Job plays in lower level Ultimates. We all know how dumb it was for so long that Dark Missionary wasn't available in UCoB and UWU. There are legitimate criticisms of the Jobs at lower levels.
jg2096: I took a break for a few months to play other games and came back for 7.4. GNB feels fantastic to play now. I don't even notice Blood Fest cool down anymore and I would say this is going to do MORE DPS than before because it's more often plus 6 charges. OMG, it's insane.
Can the DRK get this treatment. Not enough mana regeneration, things are too high cost TBN needs a heal and a defense boost. Salted earth needs to give a defense boost if you stand in it and a heal for salt and darkness if it hits you.
MinerJB: If I am not mistaken NEST tank Corey while on GB mentioned the gnashing fang issue when pulling off a boss. It was in one of their videos that their leader Drak posts.
captainziggy82: It was far from unplayable before, but I agree the job has way less jank now… my question is why does every job need to be a 1 minute job to function? I don’t agree with that thought process are all.
cilismoniker7322: Many people enjoy mastery, they want the big pay off for lining things up and they also want the capability to be able to fail. Does every job have to be one that works well if you're casual? Why can't we have casual warrior job and tryhard sweaty gunbreaker? That's what you're arguing against. So essentially, you're telling any player that likes risk/reward they don't deserve a tank class to call home.
Ovane211: Knowing every detail about a job isn't everything when giving an opinion on how you feel when playing it The same goes for anything anyone does their opinion doesn't outweigh your own even if you dislike what they say. Being in the 5% of players shouldn't hold more value over the other 95% of them. People can complain about what they want to even if it gets your G-String in a bunch.
themur880: I mean. I get it. This is the exact same thing they did to DRK when they made Delirium the new inner release
boarMcberry: this time had to agree that the new changes felt too radical. If want job that geared toward raids, then u have the other 3 jobs. Reminder that job also need to be catered toward casuals as well, not just raids. Also a reminder that some plays GNB due to lore tied to hrothgar, & with me being hrothy, the change from old PLD main to GNB felt more natural. WAR is situational & had its fun especially back in 1.x when using it was more beneficial to OHKO-SteelCyclone raptor mobs for their skins heavily used on the old Hamlet Defense content, also for deep dungeons, but that job was never felt like my identity. PLD was main due to old fave game series (Quest for Glory series btw), while DRK felt like same but also different from FF11's Rune Fencer job, being using same giant/great swords but sorta differs with how 11's RUN plays.
In the end, the changes on GNB still does similar output, but does make it more busier, while the old felt more chill to play, the current forces to refill charges more often with lesser output to make the "busy" matches the overall output that the previous version does, especially now with Double Down cost 2 cartridges & Gnashing Fang has 2 charges but with cartridge already ran out after Double Down, hence the need to refill. This all added with Bloodfest now down to 1min cd & already too fast by the time one's done doing all those cartridge managements, Since not doing parses, aside from damage output, not sure if aggro could be measured on raids, but gonna assume the "busy" make the aggro management more sustainable than old version, tho personal experience on casual dungeon wall2wall never rly had any difficulties with previous iterations.
So yea, overall, this is another classic 2.0 to 3.0 BLM issue: some ppl cries how the job was too OP but too relaxed & making other jobs too jelly, thus 3.0 forces the "enochian" as excuse to unlock Fire4 for more raw output, hence adding "busy" to justify/satisfy the cries of other "less demanding" jobs. @ least GNB changes doesn't too drastically as what BLM 2.0 to 3.0 does, but just saying the effects on casual views. Personally still sticking to it, again being hrothy lores.
slobooger: The best idea.... a ONE BUTTON ROTATION.
MainUkraine: I personally liked the 1 min meta with old trick attack those were the days...
kita6502: Honestly i can understand both sides. Imo old gnb cartridge management was engaging and it felt good to have a 2 min that was actually different than the 1 min. But i cant deny it was shit when it came to down times in fights. At first i was skeptical but after playing it now its such a rush. No breaks. You are more busy every single minute and you dont have to worry about down times fucking you. Also the biggest thing is that lower level content feels so much more fun with double gnashing fang.
And if you really want to theres a small optimization if you fit an extra Wicked talon in no mercy with enough skill speed.
But the class doesnt punish you if you dont do it because its flexible.
My only isssue with gunbreaker now is that burst strike is just kinda there now as filler.
MisfitMonkey: Change is scary. If numbers don't flatly go up most people react like a bot thinking "bad"
Protip, your brain is bad it is always highly pessimistic about most things in life. Learn how to control yourself my brothers
