talesoftonrie: In Phantasy Star 2, had the Summoner that used a conductor baton and pets (a magical falcon one of them) but was considered a Phys Ranged / caster hybrid. I immediately thought of that when I saw her and her stylus/baton.

fairycrimes1173: i saw a post speculating the phys range is going to be based on roman augury, which used a wand called a lituus to commune with birds. using the bird (or birds) for attacks with magic primarily in a support sense could be a good way to adapt the idea of an augur to a final fantasy job while justifying it as phys range

TifaTakeuchi: Paine's exclusive pet in the Trainer dressphere is a pheasant rather than a falcon. The Trainer creatures (dog, pheasant and monkey) are based off the tale of Momotaro.

deezybk: I think the Mi'qo girl is a red herring, and I agree that the falcon likely flies off to another character who will actually reveal the new job. It just doesn't make much sense to me that they'd fully show the next job in this trailer, but I do think they wanted to drop a hint or two. The falcon having all that extra armor seems completely unnecessary and strange if it's not significant in some way. My guess is that the character the falcon flies off to is related to Visna, maybe a parent or older sibling (so the child and bird grew up together). I would love a crossbow or disc thrower falcon combo!

0ctaviaPony: I think it is actually a crossbow. If you listen carefully to the first sound effect, right before it fires, you can hear an audible clicking noise like something being primed. I think thats a crossbow bolt being loaded and ready to fire

TheRetifox: I really hope it's a Crossbow job with a Bird pet. Like, FFXIV is so old, and we still don't have a classic Hunter/Ranger theme job. I just want a dude who's good at shooting stuff with a bird to help him. But probably, seeing as Yoshida is obsessed with things being "different," then probably we're gonna get a Job with a slingshot that shoots magical water balloons or something.

Supposedly, somebody "leaked" the names of both jobs in NA Fanfest, and the Physical Ranged Job's name is Zephyr.

Cassar17: I swear I can hear a clicking sound on the first sound effect, it almost sounds like a gun clocking or something. I don't think it could be a gun considering we have MCH already so my next prediction would be a crossbow. A crossbow eagle "Hunter" style job would be sick imo

jennaelise1193: There's also a *click* followed by the sound of something being shot or released in the first sound clip that a lot of people seem to overlook. Quinn was the first thing I thought of when I heard both clips.

randomgenretalk8151: For me it looks like a Facloneer to me, they create symbols to mark enemies with it, in order for their falcon to attack the enemies. There is also the possibility that this wand has two modi, one mode shoots these symbols in order to mark enemies and the second mode turns the wand into a whip, maybe some sort of water whip. Which would make sense because she seems to be on the realm ship of water.

Veareya: If any scion is changing jobs it's probably going to be Alisaie, she hasn't changed since Heavensward and Estinien despite being a Dragoon since A Realm Reborn his character is too intertwined with being a Dragoon.

XIIIthHour: I have a theory about Visna being one of the Winterers, since, iirc, Visna is Icelandic for Wither. or maybe she's related to the winterers in some fashion.

Kreynor81: Visna and the falcon are a red herring, in the sense that they're unrelated. Remember that what was shown yesterday is not the final full cinematic intro to Evercold. It's likely that Visna is just a character important to the MSQ, and so is the "wand" and sigil. The falcon seems part of the dps job because of the audio clip during the Soken segment. The full intro probably features the falcon flying to its master, aka the new dps job. Revealing both jobs in one fanfest doesn't make any sense. A boomerang as a weapon woud tie-in nicely with Hope from FFXIII since that game has quite a few Nordic references in it. The new job could use boomerangs AND a falcon, who knows! EDIT: wrote my comment before finish watching the video, guess we have a similar idea.

DrakenGamerGuy: My theory is the girl found the wand or was given it and is playing with it, not knowing how to really use it. When her falcon comes to get attention, she shoo's it away, inadvertently activating the wand, surprising both her and her bird. I envision the weapon to be a Gauntlet and Bird combo, or just a gauntlet. Especially since we see the bird has a hood and other leather-like gear on it.

kyrias9391: If the falcon attacks its a physical ranged ;) the wand can just be to target em for the bird.

ssjgokuhan: One of the DNC flourishes is the form of a bird and makes a call when used, so the sound effect shared could be misdirection.
