Shopping CartHeroman3003: I'm so glad someone is finally addressing this topic properly. There's infinite people whining no content, but really saying "no content that I enjoy and can spend all free time of my life doing".
BionicLatino: The worst faith critics of FF14 are its fans.
Itama22: What is this guy yapping about some FFXIV in my minecraft video? :p
rndm2655: "No jokes" resulting in being the only person to call it TWR since 4.3 is the funniest joke you could have ever made. Great vid, always a fan of pushing back against excessive dooming.
lucalopez9604: "The Diadem os different from The Diadem and The Diadem" is killing me. Wonder how many people unaware of their existence were losing their minds LOL
(I even forgot the 2nd even happened)
Gantzie: I appreciate that you spend the majority of the video meticulously detailing out how you calculated this and noting several discrepancies.
Zakjuh: tl;dr things we already knew if we were paying attention and not being bad faith ragemongers
still, I appreciate that you went through the trouble. still, I assume it'll fall on deaf ears and the reasons for dismissing it will be something nebulous like "but it just feels like less" or "h-haha you are a shill so i wont argue with you"
hashmalbringeroforder1168: "I love this game."
"I control this game."
"I own this game."
"I can't control this game."
"I don't own this game."
"I hate this game."
"I must tear this game down."
It feels as though most of the rage baiting "content creators" have gone down this route because they've realized that Square will not do absolutely everything that they want them to and it's hurt their fragile egos.
random-numbers: I had a feeling Dawntrail has had a step up in QUANTITY of content, glad to see it verified here. Thanks for taking the time to do all this.
red5robb1: on free trial, i spent over 1K hours doing basically everything i could in just ARR (without leaving ARR). this time is my /playtime right before i took the first HW quest. the only things i didnt do to completion were
-PotD, i did get to 100, dabbled in it a bit but didnt do much otherwise, i did get to 200 during HW
-Big Fish, i started doing this while in ARR but didnt get into it until HW
-Coils, i did T1-T8 synced, got caught on T9 and moved into HW during that time, havent touched savage coils other than unsync for poetics/titles. i have since done T9-T12 synced
i am an outlier, i like doing all content in the game, some of the time was miserable, other times were great. not everyone is going to spend 1K hours in ARR doing just ARR content like me. some content is weaker than others, some people will only do certain content and ignore others. everything is subjective.
that being said, anyone who says there is no content or nothing to do has either played this game since day 1 and has legit done everything the game has had, or only sticks to a few aspects of the game and ignores the rest.
if you only want to stick to those few aspects, thats fine, but you then are not allowed to complain there is no content because there is. its just not content YOU want to do
blitz3391: Finally something concrete to say its not "Lack of content" it's "content you don't like".
travis_biscuit: I can sense Yoshi P's eye twitch every time you chant "The Diadem."
generalpenny: The problem is consistency and compelling longevity
ElienKerdan: Thank you for being one of the very few genuinely honest XIV content creators out there.
lorenzopliskin1384: we need quality not quantity, the game needs to be a time sink you go back bc you want to,not bc they added X dungeon, trail new diff. of previous things
Sanctuary island was a good odea tuined by the same mindset of just wanting to force the pmayers to just sink time/motnhly pass, game simply lacks an organic engagement that goes beyond pick up a new class and level ot up or experience new sotry bits side missions
jmthey need to start over with a new mmo,we are just gaspin at strwas at this point
Andrew-l3h: the issue for me isn't that there's enough content, is that there isn't enough content that interests me. I can't raid ex or above so thats out. I rely on timesinks like old relics/exploration content/crafting and gathering. Feel like DT has had less of that content for me, that being said i still have older content i've not done, just my observations from my time in DT.
on a side not i must really suck at blu mage, ive put in many many hours i lost count into masked carnivale #32 and i cannot beat that fight, not even close.
cooliod00d: I don't think quantity is the issue, quality is. Occult Crescent is practically a worse version of Eureka IMO. Cosmic Exploration is pretty much a 95% or so copy of Ishgard Restoration. "New content" is kind of pointless when it's almost a carbon copy of old content. Putting a neat new dress on content isn't going to excite me when everything underneath that dress is more or less the same. I also don't understand why they keep adding Open Field Content but never really try to experiment with it and try something that's a little more than just adding 2-3 skills to your job. Open Field Content should be something where SE can go wild, it's something where they could test more RPG elements like skill trees and stuff like that.
FF14 has gotten extremely dull and I just can't motivate myself anymore for doing content that gives me an item that basically just provides some flat stats with no thought process involved whatsoever. Even if you fully min/max your substats the difference is so fucking negligible that I'm just like: What's the fucking point outside of being a sweaty speedrun min/maxer?
Sometimes I'm legitimately wondering why the game even still uses the term MMORPG when the RPG part is so tiny it might not even be there. A better term would probably be narrative-driven MMO or some shit like that. Gameplay-wise it feels like a barebones RPG at best compared to most other games. I really want to believe that 8.0 will at least change some things to make it less dull, cause with every expansion and every bit of streamlining I've found myself with less of an urge to play and these days I pretty much only resub every few months to keep my house. Maybe after playing games like PoE, where you basically have an infinite amount of choices for building your character, I have simply outgrown this game.
Demon_Tiem: Wesk trying to be objective? Sony, throw this man into a volcano again. Insert LTG gif here
ricky_pigeon: The "click bait" is not a distraction for the devs.
You should know that Square has internal tracking stats so they see what players spend their time doing and players typically spend most of their time doing something they enjoy.
They're not dumb, they have limited resources and everything they do is calculated based on players behaviour and sometimes their feedback... like the grapes in Endwalker.
What features should they add to the game? it's very clear they are looking at mods people are using and their downloads too.
What players say and what they do and want is almost always different, most people don't even know what they want. It's almost always bad to listen to the average player, especially the loud ones. Square know this, you should too.
kampfh7150: I love this time of an expantion. It happens EVERYTIME, without fault, a couple weeks after the last tier of savage has been cleared. I give it a couple of days, then we'll have creators like Xenos reacting and single boosting it to a different part of the community and then a couple of weeks after that, the "wah wah wah DT has no content" crowd will flock to something else to complain about. Probably Wuk Lamat again, because the story not living up to the hype is her fault, somehow.
wackantheduck6883: "FFXIV devs try to release anything that isn't just a savage boss in disguise challenge (IMPOSSIBLE) (GONE WILD)"
rubberbandthoughtprocess: It's not about quantity, it's about quality. Dawntrail feels like it catered to extremes—either super casual or high-end—while forgetting the middle ground where most of us play. The story fell flat, and content like Occult Crestent only having an extreme version with no normal duty option is a perfect example. SE dumbed down some areas while gating others behind punishing difficulty. Where's the content for players who want a challenge without needing a static group and 50 pulls to clear?
davidbell7491: Damn.
Strong Work!
Deejqt: I always thought the cadence of content was the problem. Not the amount of content in an expansion.
HaitaniMasayuki: You know you remember way more stuff from your childhood and teens than in your adult and recent adult life, relatively speaking?
Because the things you remember from your past you can remember more often, the further in the past they are. That's why childhood feels so long, but your adult life passes way quicker.
This game has been our for well over 10 years. It's probably a similar situation by now as well.
Strider_Shinryu: While I haven't done the exercise myself, I do think it's still a valuable one. For myself, I do like to grind out levels on every job (both combat and craft/gather) and I do consider getting pretty much every relic weapon as a core bit of content for me, so things like Roulettes (which I actually largely enjoy) or repeats of content do factor in (especially with the modern era way of acquiring relics). I don't, however, tend to do any of the "hard" content in the game until it's completely scaled out of being current so that amount of content is, well, not content for me. Given the trade offs there, though, I'd say I arrive in a pretty much similar place time commitment wise.
I do agree that the gap in content releases is probably the biggest issue I have but that's more so in sense that we hear about a lot of things that are coming at some point, or are coming way later down the line, but are very rarely given times/dates until they are nearly released. I also think more attention could/should be paid to when specific content types are released so that certain portions of the player base aren't as often left with little to no content that will likely appeal to them. Then again, the developers have already made comments about those issues as well as talked about how the content development/delivery cycle may have to change to fit more modern expectations, so I'm perfectly fine waiting to hear and see more about how that will change the game in the future.
