Truth told, I'm not terribly concerned that my main job (WAR) is relegated to OT but I've seen a few PLD players who are either anxious about being pegged as MT, or they're letting ego run wild. I'm curious to see how this all shakes out. I'm excited that they're trying something different, but I feel like this one would go over a bit softer if it was, say, a MT/ OT stance setting instead of a hard split. Either way, great video!

caiobarbosa5705: Honestly? I agree with the DRK having an hp spender, I believe that this Evolved mode thing is a GREAT opportunity for them to make some really wacky stuff and make things really different for once, both EW and DT didnt bring much changes to job designs these last few years
DoktorJammified: You could even do something fun with the gunbreaker bodyguard idea. Instead of being constant like a dance partner it could be a buff to allow a dps to do something dumb while not fully enabling bad behavior since it's temporary. The floor generator mechanic from Meso Terminal's 4 boss encounter could be repurposed as a tank mechanic but slap the buff on a melee and send them in to kill it quicker. Protecting someone else at your own expense is the very definition of a bodyguard so the buff would need to come with drawbacks like transferring vuln stacks to you so you can't use it mindlessly while still being extremely useful in right situation.
Achridian: I’ve seen quite a few people very much dooming about the main/off tank split and it’s nice to see people speculating about it hopefully. That said as a gunbreaker main as long as my attacks still explode I will be happy. The only thing I will be sad if it is missing is heart of corundum. I don’t expect it to hold the same effects but it’s one of my favorite buttons to press, hoping it stays in some form.
AnimaWyrm: I am currently leveling Paladin just because i like its aesthetics. You know, "holy-ish" warrior who protects the weak and having the finest armor with the most elegant of fabrics woven into said armor (Shoutout to the False Monarchy set and the other PvP armor sets). Being then relegated into being the Main tank (for the duration of a Trial fight or raid) will be an interesting change to me. I am super interested of what the Evolved Mode will dish out.
mattp994: Tbf Dark Arts was not a fun mechanic, neither was stance dancing. But I do think DRK is the most OT-suited tank, just TBN is the perfect OT skill, you can use it on the MT and gain DPS value from mitigation. GNB could get something in a similar vein but have it give you a cartridge for using some kind of party member mitigation skill, while WAR could inflict a debuff that reduces damage dealt by a target while also increasing dmg received by the target like a mini Feint Mug rolled into one.

The Perceived Meta will be you want a Main Tank for any solo tank duty and then that will be the main tank for double tank duties. Anything else will be deemed Sub=Optimal and whined about.

Warrior i would like to see unleah become a sort of active buff that gains stacks of unleash viva using skills up to say 5 stacks and each stack is a 3 to 5% damage increase. You can spend those stacks on powerful attacks or a single big heal on yourself
Gunbreaker is honestly in the safest spot compare to all the other tanks, but i do like the idea maybe its the only tank that could maybe do sinmgle target strong shared shields also maybe increase the bullet count to six like a six-cylinder revolver

Kul_ZR: I believe the OT need to have a compromised defense for offense gameplay mechanic with it being a different style between them.
DRK having HP as resource ( I would prefer it to something like 11 where it cost health on all attacks and not just a single skill like pvp). WAR having increased damage done/taken in a stance similar to how pre-SHB tanks were (minus the enmity bonus). GNB is a bit weird. Maybe health cost on just the cartridge spenders with a "overpressured" cartridge theme.
I'm hoping they get the MT/OT design with being the "safe" meta like pure and shield healer comp and not have double OT being a dominate meta
redwolfmatt: they kinda explicitly said this is just an informal delineation that's gonna inform playstyle design. similar to the difference between burst healers and shield healers. there are design differences but they are explicitly balanced to not matter in the big picture
ausira_: I just hope certain buttons stay on Warrior is all. I like my suite of mass healing and strong dungeon capabilities. I know dungeons and casual content isnt what the game is mostly balanced around, and I've done Endwalker raids (Those constant bleed busters chew through WAR's regen), but WAR's mass self healing is a distinct identity of the job and makes its tanking feel more, reactive, and thus more fun to me personally. Also please keep equilibrium, its the best CD ever.

Zaulr9797: MT is equal to Defenders/Guardians and OT is equal to Bruisers. All 5 tanks will be able to “tank” effectively, they just do it with different flavor and unique roundabout ways

redcrow3605: Honestly wished they just made MT and OT kinda like a selectable thing in Party finder rather then making specific Tank's MT and OT. Make different classes have Advantages and Disadvantages depending on what Tanking role they've selected... Instead they made DRK an OT... The class with a gaint ass sword that can double as a massive shield. Yeah still a little sour about that.
joeking986: I've been saying this for awhile... its not even just tanks its almost all the jobs, they all feel like they are doing the same damn thing, the only difference at this point is animations lol... this is why "balance" isnt always a good thing, some things need to feel unique and better than other jobs at certain things... it literally feels like there is almost no difference between other jobs its just a different flavor/way of doing it....FFXI will forever be the GOAT when it came to job uniqueness/feel
