Sithalos: My lingering concern is the fact that Wuk Lamat appears to still be alive.

manymiaws: There's literally nothing they can do in the 7.3 msq to even remotely redeem the damage done to the XIV story, world and lore in the 7.0 story. All I can hope for is that from 7.4 onward, nothing in the Dawntrail story will be referenced or remembered from here on in. There's absolutely nothing else to be excited about in 7.3 either, just another deep dungeon and just another 24 man teleporting around in random locations, FFXI nostalgia wank fest. The rest of the content isn't even worth mentioning

The name Garland refers to a wreath of flowers.

I suspect he’s a reference to Garland from FF9, which means we’re once again expected to know and have some attachment to a character because of the reference.

I still have some hope for the future but if I’m tight then they really need to stop using past games as a narrative crutch.

Moonbeam_Boxer: Dawntrail burned all of the goodwill and trust that Ten Yen Yoshida and CBU3 had built up over the years. I don't expect anything from 7.3, aside from an ending to the DT story. 7.4 is going to be the make or break point for this game.

Enderlinkpawnu: They tried to makw Calyx this intimidating hyper-logical guy, but the moment of his introduction when he smited the WoL with enough of Solution 9 electricity to take out the power of the entire block made him look dumb. Even with all of that he barely got the WoL down to their knees, and they were fine like 5 minutes later.

If Calyx were a real genious, he probably wouldn’t be touching the WoL again with a 10 foot pole. Antagonizing the WoL is like poking an armed nuclear warhead.

disgraceddairy1282: At this rate, there will be no Ten Year Arc. After Dawntrail, what's even left to discuss/explore? It pretty much just resolves everything it sets up anyways. The worldbuilding that FFXIV used to be so good at is just completely gone now.

zarthes: I'm just mad that they seem to be wasting this arguably perfect time to bust out the old anime "Talk no jutsu" because we have verifiable evidence from flying to the edge of existance and seeing all these failed worlds and peoples that Calyx plan Will. Not. Work. Oddly enough he feels like a tacked on antagonist FROM one of those worlds like he's just pissed that for all of lifes trials and tribulations, Ethyrs is...just fine.

Sazandora635: I really don't feel like the seat of the pants writing is going to work for the next 10 years when they've failed to establish a new groundwork like ARR where we're learning about what's going on even in the distant parts of the world as threads to be addressed later.

Once 7.3 is over unless something drastic and world-changing happens we're just back to square one again wondering what the heck is going to happen next.

WispyWispy: Given the sheer volume of voice lines for Wuk Lamat, I think it wasn’t just cronyism/nepotism (via friendship with the Localisation Lead) that got her English VA the job. I think it’s also because a relative unknown is cheap to hire. Said VA has made social media posts about being out of money and maybe that’s just being bad with money but, hmm. Talk about setting someone up to fail. High visibility role, bad acting, nuclear bad takes on social media. Can’t even feel sorry for the asshole.

Given what we got in the trailer, I have a sinking feeling we’re going to lose original (likeable) Sphene and/or Gulool Ja this patch, and the Trial will be a monstrosity created from whoever we lose (or Calyx/Alexandrians who accepted the new regulators). I can’t even get excited any more. Maybe this is where I finally unsub for good.

Wuk Lamat brings up her promise to Sphene. Nope didn't expect that one again.

Real Sphene makes it clear she won't let another Alexandrian suffer. Once again.

and ofcourse, the voice talking about evolution, death, and eternal life as if we didn't go through that in the past patches and expansions.

This team is completely creatively bankrupt. Why is Hiroi still employed again?

Makoraias: If it turns out that Calyx is the 9th Reflection's ver. of Azem that has fallen to despair and is afraid of death, I'm going to laugh so damn hard.

And then sigh in severe disappointment as I go back to playing FF11.

constantanxietyattacks6878: Wuk Lamat is already a grating character in Japanese, but giving her such an abrasive, poorly cast, poorly directed, poorly fitting, terrible actor who fakes a South Park Jennifer's Lopez tier Spanish accent when she's the face and centre of the entire expansion really was a terrible idea. moudoka: Quit in 7.1, haven't looked back. Zero desire to return. These videos only reinforce that belief. Dawntrail was sold as one thing, an expansive vacation on a tropical island, scions going head-to-head against each other. What did we get? Nothing like that. Just more of the same bullshit fetch quests, our character, who saved the UNIVERSE...regulated to a sidekick for a horribly-written, even worse voice-acted Wuk Lmao. I skipped cutscenes, they were so damn bad. I couldn't be bothered to keep up with the MSQ. The utter and complete lack of decent content to keep me interested. SE flew too high, burnt their wings, and crashed to the ground. I, at one point, held hope for 8.0, but screw that. Just pisses me off all that time invested, for what? Nothing. Absolutely...nothing.

MurakamiTenshi: No mention of an Ultimate, so the raiders can keep coping it will come with 7.5. Meanwhile, nothing in this patch really interests me... I've already unsubbed.

NotGuy64: I can only hope for a swift wrap up to dawntrails mediocre story and hope that whatever build up to 8.0 will be any good. but seeing how they've handled dawtrail story, battle content, and class balance I am VERY skeptical.

J_Mirae: I can't remember the last time I've bothered waking up for a live letter. I am so over this story and it's characters. Nothing about the patch even remotely excites me besides relic weapons.

Max44321: There is like half a second shot in the trailer of an NPC reacting in fear of a hunched-over sentry reaching towards them as if for help. Got a feeling Calyx's big thing will be copying people's minds/moving their souls into robot bodies, for some existential horror. Doctor Who did it several times long ago with the Cybermen, and better.
