BriahnAznable: Counterpoint to LB1 ever being a DPS loss: It makes a cool sound
regalia9908: “Babe wake up, new Caetsu Myth buster just dropped”
lucalopez9604: Fun fact! There is uses for single target doton actually! It's very much something relegated exclusively to ultimates, as doton can be a gain in the chance theres a very long downtime that would make you overcap on mudras. You saw it a lot in FRU where NINs made sure to place it center in the long downtime of P1 and P2, as when the boss came back they would still get hit by some of the doton. Still, extremly niche optimization that the person struggling with NIN in CT tower should not ever think about, but neat not the least.
pedroscoponi4905: Oh, here's a story appropriate for Mythbusters:
I once had to try and disprove a player in one of my dailies who insisted that Endwalker
keireigoto2720: i had someone almost kick me from ultima normal cause i used an LB1 right as we were about to lose it. called me a troll and kept harassing me about it the whole rest of the fight. It made me freaking terrified cause he said he was gonna report me for griefing or something like that. I'm glad you explained this to us and made me realize he was just being an asshole and sweating like it was savage content or something like that
CenKyne: all I know is, no matter what LB you are using, If you're nearing the end of your fight and you're going to use a damaging lb, if anyone has res sickness they need to be using it doesn't matter if they're ranged or Caster or melee. it's way efficient for The res sickness person to use it
Brahmsonite: "Melee DPS LB1 is a damage loss"; Emet Selk scowls.
"Melee DPS LB1 is a style loss"; Emet Selk scowls (in grudging approval).
Taldemarr: I've been morbidly curious about the melee LB1 thing. Thank you for clarifying!
redmagecody: I have a Myth I've been curious about for a long time now because I've heard this said on Reddit a lot: "Scholar's Sacred Soil isn't worth using in content until it gets the regen, because Lustrate will heal more than Sacred Soil mitigated."
jkelleyk: I actually had no idea that was how LB potency was handled, it’s never even hinted at anywhere in game
I always just assumed it was purely the casters gear or a flat potency
ChelsDoesThings: I made this mistake with DNC's Standard Step right when I started getting into raiding with Valigarmanda EX. Was fun to see it pop up and go "hey I did this"
CamperCarl00: I could see a melee dps not using LB because it doesn't get contributed to them in FFlogs.
megawaffle612: On the Doton issue don’t be too quick to assume the ninja thinks Doton is best on single target. Sometimes muscle memory gets you and a Doton is better than a bunny or nothing at all!
mdhutch2002: On the subject of LB damage, in Eureka, it is also affected by your elemental level and elemental bonus. I don't know why Eureka is like that, but it is.
Mexican_Sunbro: I find myself using Standard Step mainly to keep it aligned with Technical Step so when the latter comes off CD Standard is ready to go. Especially since Flourish turns Standard Step into Finishing Move which requires no steps.
iisawesome_3339: Funnily enough, back when I unlocked Dancer, I somehow didn’t realize how much damage Standard Finish did, and so I assumed that it was meant to be used as explained in the video. Essentially a shorter cooldown for easier maintenance
Shak562: I'll admit I'm guilty of the dancer standard step/finish one when I first started leveling it a while back, think it was ymir who said no use it on cool down
MekamiEye: For the LB1 section: I think in a party of 8, you'll have a 5% passive dmg increase bonus that does not affect the LB1 damage. So would one take that into consideration for their answer?
DaemonetteBait: Myth that the novice network is anything other than a weird cult at this point -_-;
Or i suppose a discussion on weird claims on class balance would be interesting for your input.
I can't remember exactly when this was, i think when it was the mega uber omega fight. Everyone was moithering about PLD being terrible/useless. And whoever had world first did it with a PLD in the party. But people still wouldn't shut up about it. So ive personally ignored everything the "community" says about class balance since as asinine moithering.
NatiiixLP: Standard Finish being used "just for the buff" is hilarious to me because I did a ton of MINE raiding at level 50, where Standard Finish is the largest damage contributor, and helps DNC out-DPS most melees, often thanks to better uptime, as long as you don't run away so far that Standard Finish misses the boss.
cdsbradley: i was in a roulette with a healer who complained about the tank's living dead macro, and the tank said they did it because the game only updates buffs players apply to themselves on other players' screens during server ticks
HildeTheOkayish: I kind of wish the game was more clear on some of these things. Like it would be nice if the lb description would say the rough amount of damage it does. Even better if it could translate it to how much potency a player would have to output to get the same result. Though that would require having the description update for each player individually depending on gear and party weapon ilv average.
guthix6033: Haha I very much appreciate the expanded paladin math crunch after you responded to me in the "The Stages of the Job Rotation!" video! I can't sub twice but I'll cast Versubscribe as thank you :)
Optimizing between each and every level range is really exhausting, especially when information is so convoluted and even obscured from the player (for example checking the potency of WHM holy or doton - doing some quick maffs in your head to see if it was a gain or not - and stuff like Auto-attack button and LB in game does not even show potency at all). You digging this stuff up for us is extremely helpful! Good video! May you be blessed with your favourite trial in mentor roulette :P
At least I've been doing the Holy Spirit execution right haha
ddfb494355: A fantastic mythbusters episode. Lots of good general misunderstandings, that I'd bet most players at max level may have encounterd all of them!
HayTatsuko: Here's my take on using Raiton vs. using Doton on a single target:
Raiton hits instantly, with no chance of Potency loss if the target moves. It does 650 Potency (740 at lv. 94 ), every time.
Doton can lose Potency if the target moves out of it before all of its 7 ticks land, and even if all 7 hit, it's still only 560 Potency.
In normal content, there's really no question as to which is better on a single target. Ride that lightning, Ninja!
apljack: Wait, LB goes off Weapon ilvl? Huh. So, uh... I've been basically trolling my groups in PF by keeping the EX4 weapon, and getting the tome one for my alt job first. I had figured 'well, I'm just a SCH and I don't have massive DPS regardless, so whatever for the weapon right now.' Had no idea I was lowering all our LBs as well by that decision. :/
Looks like I might as well start trying to get the tome weapon while working on getting to M8S clear. >.>
