I was already in a pretty solid place when it came to not wanting to play FF14 mobile since I've never been a big mobile gamer in general, but yeah, once you start seeing the true depth of the monetization schemes, it totally kills it for me. I have ZERO issues spending money on a game I enjoy when I can just outright buy what I want, like the actual FF14 cash shop, but I despise RNG based gacha systems, and not being able to buy specific amounts.

Foxtrottingalong: At this point I dont even think the game is going to come to places other than china tbh. From what ive read the game hasn't been doing too amazing (poor reviews, massive botting problem, low player count and engagement), which probably is why the cash shop has ended up being so egregious to facilitate recouping development costs. I wouldn't be shocked if the reason we haven't heard anything globally beyond that first announcement is that the rights have been fully sold to tencent.

Step 1.) Refuse to listen to fans' requests for better quality of life and basic features.

Step 2.) Blame it on spaghetti code even tho game is a decade old and could've been fixed.

Step 3.) Release a different version of the same game with all of the quality of life features that players have been asking for, but make it exclusive for a different region.

Step 4.) Still refuse to add features in the main game. No matter how hard they beg. Even tho is possible now.

It’s disgusting. The industry needs a reboot away from MTX. I want to go back to the days when there was only 1 version of a game, and it was a complete product. No DLC, no MTX.

WarGiver: The EU has it out for Gatcha and is making it painful for companies to make any Gatcha mechanic available in the EU. They are also cracking down on "Gem" or other "Special Currencies" Basically this kind of Mobile gatcha shopping isn't really legal in the EU so retail FFXIV cosmetics are unlikely to change.
