Shopping CartLoTuS_why: What a "second rebirth" means has become clearer to me over time thanks to things like the glam dresser changes. ARR was mainly about reevaluating what design principles from 1.0 were antiquated compared to the MMO landscape of the time, the result being turning more like WoW. So this second rebirth is not about throwing another moon to the world, but identifying what parts of the current design have become stagnant and need to be rethinked.
thebigidea9659: Sir, a second moon has hit the Reflection.
TajinQ: I'm convinced the devs would never consider taking a gamble on the scale of 2.0 unless the situation was critical. There is a lot discourse online about Dawntrail, but the game is still doing fine.
I want big changes in 8.0, especially regarding job design and content format. Way bigger than what we saw with Endwalker and Dawntrail. I think the devs understand this are the expectations the majority in the community share, and this was Yoshi-P's way of adressing it.
fouts85: He's earned my trust from 1.4 to 2.0. I will wait and see... He's earned my hope. Let's hope SE doesn't fumble. Merry Christmas to all.
Vaeltis: I honestly think people are overplaying the whole 'reborn' statement from that interview, I doubt its going to be another ARR or anything, just more so a new beginning where the game will be on full parity with Global, Korea and China, because we know that the Chinese server is already on parity as of the current 7.4 patch. And Korea is expected to be on parity with 7.5 or at the latest 8.0 launch. This will mark the first time that all versions of the game(minus the mobile verison) will be synced and launching at the same time.
maafremsayablong: Ok time to destroy the world again xD
Blubbii88: I hope that we get an engine rework. The amount of time and effort they put in to make even the smallest quality of life changes has become so much, that it won't be sustainable in the future. It just add pasta to their spaghetti. FF14 generates a massive slice of SEs profits and I hope they see the value in reinvesting back into it again, remembering how much ARR helped them to become this success in the first place.
I am still sceptical, but I want to have some wishful thinking.
ARR was created with limited experience in the MMORPG genre and the genre itself was still changing. In a best case scenario, a new engine means they can create a framework that more fittingly enables what they really want to do and what player ask for. They can optimize their code to run better on current systems, crafting and inventory alone could recieve such a massive buff just from better code. We can't even throw items away or do certain actions while in some menus or shops, what I can only imagen is the system not being able to handle actions like turn in and destroy at the same time, leading to some exploits. (But that is just my guess for why this is so inconvinient). World of Warcraft can handle all of this and more for even longer than FF exists, they have real time guild banks, massive inventories and banks a whole collection of transmogs that are registered as soon as you get them and even a mobile glamourdresser, while we can't even have a glamour dresser in our house, because the game don't know to handle a situation where a player might use it, while another moves or removes the glamour dresser. Other games proof that it's possible and SE is not small enough to not being able to do it themself, if there wouldn't be set limitations created by earlier builds that they build their cardhouse on.
Best example is Diablo4 that created such a terrible inventory, which ended up being so restrictive, that adding a new bank is seen as a "huge feature". I haven't followed recent updates so they might have been able to fix some of the stuff, since it is still a rather new game, but with a game like FF14 that has and continues to build everything on such broken systems, it becomes almost an impossible task to still create even the smallest QoL tools in 10 years. Rebuilding an engine of such a massive game is defintiely not a task done in a short time notice. But if they pull it off at all I will be glad.
Falce45: If another realm reborn occurs in future expansions im hoping its a timeskip. They could introduce time mage as a playable job to explain jumping between old and new content lore wise.
Puddingskin01: "Reborn with more Wuk Lamat."
hamakakun: and here im just wishing they will acknowledge SEA countries and enable support and registration for us.
sunayocarissime5309: About the only thing I can recommend to Yoshi P and Square Enix is this. Just go back to what made the game great in the first place which means ignoring the so-called, "modern," take to it. At this point though I have defaulted to my usual mindset of, "expect the best, but plan for the worst." As a result for the first time since FFXIV went live I will NOT be preordering the next expansion. I'm going to wait for reviews to come out first and judge for myself. If they are positive, I'll buy the next expansion. If however its a Dawntrail 2.0, I will be unsubbing for the first time since release. I have always loved this game but seeing it go down a road I'm not enthusiastic for is mildly depressing.
kylekingston1256: I cant wait to see how this plays out
MattSinz: If it is as big of a change as Yoshi P is suggesting, one thing I'm hoping for is all the city state maps being merged back into single maps, like they were before ARR.
mattstansbeary3068: Well they have put everything almost to 2027 Jan. 2027. Yes Sadly we have a Whole Year before we see the Expansion & 3 More of FF14 7.X (7.4 Released, FF14 7.45, FF14 7.5 & FF14 7.55 & then wait for 6 months until FF14 8.0) So Yes it's a long wait
TamazillaVT: The narrative recap thing is a criminal concept to me. I don't care if it's a "barrier to entry" to those people. You don't skip 75% of a book and get the benefit of knowing what you just skipped. You don't skip seasons 1-4 of a show and get the benefit of all the things that make season 5 so compelling. People want all the benefits of an experience WITHOUT ANY OF THE EXPERIENCE. It is the minimum bar to entry
reynard86: Idk I don't expect huge, engine level changes after they just got done with the graphics update a little while ago. Would be nice though, if for no other reason than to build something that allows for more engaging class/combat design.
But I do not expect anything of the sort. Not yet, anyway.
N0vacain-3: "The quality of games gets better" i mean if you compare ffxiv to indie games yeah
I also feel a handful of the people who push back on change are the same people who just afk in city states 24/7
Hibbyx007: Speaking as someone who is a beta player and has now dropped the game after Endwalker, I'd like to see a new direction entirely from the game. This includes everything the game offers in content and philosophy. The game has really shifted from back then from a FF MMO to a FF 'themed' MMO.
The jobs systems and fights don't lend themselves to be interesting enough to remove all the interesting quirks of that a job SHOULD have. Though I know most players in FF14 don't know their prime numbers so maybe its asking a lot to see more complexity put back into jobs. Like you said, cautious optimism.
liamwilson7549: They need to make a proper world to explore, and give casuals more things to do that is actually fun
octapusxft: the last time the game was reborn the cats lost 1-2 chest sizes
mann0311: Oh nice Quazii channel is still alive!
hkoizumi3134: I keep thinking about how great it would be to port the FFXIV mobile version to PC. From what I know, the mobile version has addressed a lot of shortcomings, like improving snapshots, the menu system, and small quality-of-life features. For gameplay, they could add a merit system like in FFXI, where you can boost your base stats even further, giving more reason to grind for experience. Or they could bring back the subjob system, letting us create our own custom job roles. These would be big changes, but I think they’re necessary since other competitors already offer similar systems by default.
Laossutra: Merry Christmas
linkshellvendor: Sincerely, it makes sense.
Endwalker felt like the end, and going back to play through Dawntrail solidified this feeling of the game being over and you just doing side quests.
Making a new version of the game starting with a whole new story is the way to go.
SoraInTheSkies: I do feel like one of the major things they need to do is stopping the obsessive focus on "QoL" changes for jobs and removing any form of skill expression, I'd love if they add some complexity back or maybe add sub-classes for jobs that change your playstyle a little varying from easy - challenging, I think that might cater to the widest audience in a way that doesn't exclude people from playing any role.
Like how SMN got changed to be dummy proof, yes it was jank before but it had personality as a DoT mage with pets.. now it's just a shiny button simulator you barely can mess up.
But yeah, I feel like if jobs aren't fun, then raids / dungeons / casual combat content also becomes much more boring.
Other then that, more side content that aren't just deep dungeon / eureka-like / criterion would be appreciated, like more stuff that makes you play around in the world zones as mentioned.
michiganjack1337: Playing FF14 after playing GW2 feels so empty and stiff. I’d love to see FF embrace a lot of what has made GW2 so special for so long while keeping that FF magic.
MahaloWellCasual: I hope they never have a new starting point, the plot holes would make the story unbearable. Skips are more than enough for the lazy
