hockey1973: I'm just here to see the continuing evolution of the "watch as you go from this. . . TO THIS!!!" segment in these videos
hirudemonstrife: An excellent guide. Thank you for making it. I do have two things that I want to add
1. It was mentioned that the AOE combo opener is a spell. Because of this truth it is subject to silence. So is unmend. This does not come up very often but there are times where it can be very awkward like for example after getting hit with a bad breath from a Malboro. Be careful about those silences.
2. The delirium combo that you get in Dawntrail is an actual combo - It can be broken by using your regular attack combo. Before using blood spiller would not break the normal combo and It didn't matter as much. Now the reverse can be problematic and resets you to the beginning of the combo. Be careful or you might miss out on your best hit at the end.
lidlpotato2047: It's subjective but I think I disagree with DRK being harder to play / more complicated than GNB. In terms of optimal play / skill ceiling, I think it might get pretty close. But casual play / skill floor? DRK is so much easier. I just feel like there's no real fail state in the rotation. You press your buttons on cooldown. Random bullshit go, as long as it's all going off whenever it comes up you're pretty much good. The order doesn't really matter, you don't have a dmg buff /window except for dark side which is just always active naturally, you get your burst no matter what since it's only partially tied to your resources. The only friction I see is with TBN, that's still kind of complicated to use no matter what. But compared to GNB where you have to squeeze everything into no mercy and you really can't press your buttons if you don't have cartridges? I think DRK is much more simple. The APM also feels much lower than GNB these days, although I haven't checked it so I might be wrong on that. I think for the average player, DRK will be much easier to be relatively proficient on compared to GNB.
Great video, as always! Big thumbs up from me.
NomoregoodnamesD8: The reason Disesteem is used first in the opener is to delay our MP regen from Delirium. Disesteem takes well over a second to hit, and that gives enough time to early weave or late weave Edge of Shadow before the MP regeneration from Blood Weapon is applied.
In a Re-opener. Disesteem is used when MP is over 9000 without Dark Arts
Disesteem -> Edge will bring our mana total 9800->6800 before jumping back up to 7400 from Blood Weapon.
A similar thing happens in the opener when pre-pulling with TBN. If applied frame-perfectly with countdowns aligned with your natural MP regen, a -3.1 second TBN will give 2 pre-pull MP regen ticks for 1200 MP, starting the encounter with 8200 MP, and starting Delirium with 9200 MP. In practice, you will only get one pre-pull tick of MP regeneration and start Delirium with 8800 MP. Regardless, Disesteem can be used to vent MP before it can overcap.
In party comps where some jobs apply buffs late (Technical Finish particularly), Hard Slash is often used instead of Disesteem to delay the big GCDs of the opener (still use weaves as-if first GCD was Disesteem). This was the case in Endwalker when party buffs were not uniform duration, and DRK wanted to catch some of the more powerful 15s buffs.
Azphel_Drael-q4n: Could you do RDM next please ? I watched your endwalker guide but I’d love to see this updated version, your guides are always so well put
haloeightYT: Every Knight has its Dork
Thirtyleven: One trick with using living dead during dungeons--if you want to maximize the value, you can swap to single targeting the biggest guy in the pack for 2 or 3 gcds and then do an aoe at the end so you dont have to just stand there while the invuln ticks. Great guide!
Sunderphon: "Babe wake up, WeskAlber dropped another skills guide"
steveaustin4118: I've been leveling DRK and must admit I'm starting to enjoy playing it over WAR
khaiann4384: I always enjoy the skills guide you make, somehow you make it easier to understand and always throw down the rotations plays which is always great to have. Will always appreciate your videos, thanks more making them
Azphel_Drael-q4n: Thanks for the guide Wesk !
Gemini_Godhand: And I just got to lvl 98 using your previous video as a guide to lvl 100!
Removewastaken: That white mage clip for the invuln was very upsetting to see, but very helpful to prepare people to see it later lol
davialmeida6566: EMBRACE THE EDGY INSIDE YOU
bidyogames: Obligatory comment from me inserted here: MOM GET THE CAMERA WESKALBER UPLOADED A NEW GUIDE.
sylviap155: I am very sad the Shadowbringer skills are now so lackluster for folks leveling this now. Especially as Dark Knight is the featured job in the cutscene. I am happy that it keeps up with self sustain these days though.
