darkmistress1980: jesus f*ck maaaaaaan i really have very little hype for this right now. the only thing that has me hyped per se is living the trashfire of DT behind. those classes dont inspire me, they are turning XIV in to a subscription mobile game and yeah im not here for it. theres a reason mobile games fail and XIV needs all the help we can get. the ozma glazing isnt helping my opinions either specially for for combat outside of like 20% of the population that actually raids.

they arent going to show us more combat stuff and im hanging on by a thread for some hope but all the traveler/azem stuff might be enough. there better be more content that i want to actually engage in as a casual.

eternity7040: In WoW Heroic drops 1w before Mythic, not at the same time. World class raiders spend that entire week doing splits to prep for Mythic. They also reclear Heroic on the first Mythic week once they start hitting a wall.

Worth noting however that the impact of gear in wow is far more significant than it is in ff14.

The problem with this model is world raiders spend billions of in game gold to pay for all the splits (they repay this by doing early mount carries once cleared). This makes the playing field very uneven and means only a small handful of teams have any chance at world first.

In ff14's current setup the playing field is level. All you need is crafted gear. Any team in the world can win. It would be a tragedy to lose that.

bighat4742: Horizontal progression most definitely isn't boring. It's just the way that FFXIV handles gearing is so simplified that there's no actually interesting gear to be had. There's no effects on abilities, traits, or the way that the jobs play. It's just stat increases and the stats here are about as deep as a puddle. Don't need tenacity, any speed, rarely any piety just because of how the game works. Just pump crit and DH then whatever after those two.

The ones that do horizontal, like it's predecessor, FFXI, show that horizontal progression can actually make interesting builds. There, you are given different effects on the gear. This piece/set gives you increased casting and MP regen, while the other piece/set with the same stats gives you increased spell power and max mp. This weapon gives you an entirely different skill as opposed to the other and they both scale on different stats. There, you had sub-jobs, too, which the gearing process could also account for. Certain pieces would give you the traits of other jobs if that job was your current sub-job.

j-zonol: All they have to do is take out the levels like level 100 etc. and just put rankings. Example reaper rank one or reaper rank two is required to use this skill. Then just lower the damage whenever they do lower dungeons. You still be the high rank job. Then make it so each dungeon has a required ranking in order to play that dungeon. The new dungeons will be the higher new rank. The old dungeons will say from rank two to the newest rank, etc.. put the minimum requirement as a rank number

redKheld: To be fair, we don't really have a Racket user. Which is a classic FF weapon. So if this is their version of it for the ranged, I'll see what it can do.

SoullessSociety27: The bit about casual raider speaks to me I’m definitely intimidated and I know I suck at it I just don’t want to piss everyone off but I plan to do it this year or I guess into 2027. So I’ll try this thanks.
