Shopping CartIronBear003: Dear Woolie/Pat: As a controller player, a helpful setting I discovered recently is an option in Character Configuration along the lines of "When attempting to perform an action with no target selected:" and you can set it to target and perform the action on the closest available enemy. Unfortunately I'm not currently subbed and can't give clearer directions on this, but this would likely be a very helpful option for Woolie's targeting woes.
Please note that under a very specific set of circumstances (such as playing a ranged character and doing side content where some mobs are legitimately dangerous) this may get you killed, but as a Monk with literally no ranged options to speak of, setting this is probably a good idea.
Good luck on your FFXIV journey and I hope you enjoy your time. Maybe the next time I sub I can join the crowd of followers if you're still playing by then. (Also apologies if this somehow came up during the stream, I'm a VOD watcher and didn't see this suggested by the halfway point.)
carvotheboss: Honestly past the targeting part this was a very pleasant watch. It feels like without as much tutorials or even heavy story this was basically a chill session of Woolie hanging out and doing dungeons while talking about random stuff.
That's awesome! Because honestly, that's really the true MMO experience as I personally recall it. Just vibing with friends and yapping about whatever as you're progging and generally having a good time. I liked this one.
Yreve2: Pat not knowing about the Switch Type button is wild lol
Velvetx4cove: I respect Woolie for being the one other person that remembers watching Black Rock Shooter. That was my shit.
TheOdinsLance: Watching woolie become more and more frustrated with the targeting system throughout the hall of the novice was super tense,
but watching him immediately lock in and crush it on the final trial after changing the targeting setting was so satisfying.
pizzatron3850: It really blows that Woolie can't say "Eh I don't like the way this is handled" without Pat going into a 15 minute diatribe of how he's wrong
wuzzems2850: I spent an afternoon years ago setting up all my controls and legit the best thing to do is just go through all your settings and see what they do. It takes some time but makes everything into a way more comfortable experience. Please remember to save your configs to the cloud. If you ever change PCs then you're screwed and will have to do it again.
domewing2012: It would be the funniest turn of events for Woolie to bounce off the core game but then become fully blue mage-pilled.
ponderingForever: We vibin'
lazywatermellon: 3:30:00 Reggie blind sides Pat
lazywatermellon: Starts at 9:30
Bupernox: Ah finally, Woolie has learned the ancient art of "Orange Bad"
Novariko: Something I'd recommend turning on is in "Character Config > Hotbar > Custom > Set Selection" where you can set which hotbar pages can be switched to when your weapon is drawn, so you cant accidentally switch to your palette that has your menu items on it. It will also automatically switch to whatever hotbar you set it to when you sheathe/unsheathe.
Theres also something called "Visor" (the button to the right of the show/hide helmet option on your character sheet, or you can type /visor) which will give you an alt look of your helmet if it has one, for the goggles i believe it'd switch from your eyes to you wearing them on your head instead
danhectic5629: i will watch this multiple times (prolly while doing other stuff (really cool stuff)).
randomgenretalk8151: Two of the best targeting option are, to auto-target enemies that attack you and to automatically target an enemy if you press a skill. Especially the last one is good for AOE's and based on what you play and want, you can adjust the targeting to either prioritize the furthest away or closest target, if you can target anything in a 360° radius or in a cone before you. These options give you way more control over what you target.
celestialarrow462: Woolie wants an actual fishing minigame, not a fishing "choose your own adventure" game. Which is valid, it's why I don't bother with most of the crafting/gathering myself.

Frank_Costanzas_Lawyer: "Hi, first time commenter, please tell Woolie to PLAY THE GAME THE WAY I DO, PAT!"
--First Time Commenter, allegedly
zerosozha: I was wondering when Woolie Classic would show up, but we got it with the targeting conversation.
nuthead180: Hope you had fun today woolie! I know I did
iamnuff1992: You don't do/ignore the side rooms becuase they're good for/bad for exp.
You do it because there are chests in those rooms, and those chests get you the armour set for your glams.
iamnuff1992: Man, woolie didn't get the D-pad thing at all.
The whole time even after it's been explained to him like five times, he's just like "But what about the up and down buttons tho?"
You don't need to remap your entire dpad so that you can press up and down to cycle through enemies. Left and right already does that. Just press the correct buttons that are already set up to do what you want to do.
Edit: The only thing you might want to do is remove NPCs from the list of things you can target with left/right, but honestly it's not going to come up.
aleema4910: Hey dude. I'm sorry about the demand avoidance comment. I thought it was a neat observation since I have too. It's a neutral thing and wanting autonomy is great. Un-ding those fuckers.
ReiRaisu: Nothing against woolie but i dont get the adversion and hatred of queueing with randos in normal difficulty content as someone who has played this game for 6 years i have had no problems
