MrFranklinWest: I caught mine with a Mark 2 reel and the enhanced gear ratio. The gear ratio increases rotation speed but makes the sweet spot smaller. I was in someone else's snowy weather area and I hadn't eaten any fish bits. A little embarrassing but I didn't even know fish bits had any benefits! I've given Linda Lee like 1,000 of them already

hodakaroadtoad: Yeah, I'm disabled and have extreme neuropathy in my hands (and feet). I haven't been able to catch anything but on common bait and it's a struggle. I could really use an accessibility feature for fishing.

Fish bits do not have a buff, Grilled fish do.

Time to hook does not mean fish are easier to catch, it means the wait time between fish are hooked (starting another minigame) are reduced, so you can potentially catch more fish per hour.

babygrizwold: Well, I don't have my rod upgraded, so I tried for an axolotl 25 times with improved bait and got nothing. So I think I'll just save up my bait and probably close to the end of the month, I'll try getting it then. If I don't, oh well, I'm not going to be heartbroken. I used to play the game every day and I play other games as well but it's just boring because there's nobody to play with and to chat with. I used to have a buddy that I played with all the time but that changed last year. Everybody that I run into is quite young, and Im older. Not too much in common. I guess I'm tired of solo playing in 76. The fishing aspect I do like however. I'm glad they introduced that into the game. It's just something different

MrTehru: I have my main camp and then I have my fishing camp. My fishing camp consists of a weather device and a generator. That’s it drop that thing down. Make sure I’ve got the right weather device and I fish. And I just let it sit wherever I need to until I catch the fish I need.Super easy well it’s super easy to drop the camp. It’s not super easy to catch the damn fish lol

SilencedLamb69: I dont feel like typing the explanation out, but if youre in nuke or rain weather, youre better off using superb every time until you catch an axolotl than you would be alternating between superb and improved. Or just using improved and saving the superb if you can save up an amount that will quarantee an axolotl

angeporter5543: I caught mine on day 1. The only mod I had was the Mark 1 reel. It took 5 tries using superb bait in the Mire with my thunderstorm weather station.

GrandCrusader: I just used the middle level improved bait in the rain and on my third cast I got an axolotl... It also helps to have a very high luck stat.

I think I’ve hooked an axi 6-7 times now but even with a mk2 advanced drag it’s damn near impossible as the little fucker will go too fast and far for me to even catch up to him before he moves again. The only thing that I can think of is getting the rotate speed mod and giving maximum effort but I don’t know. I’ve tried and failed several times with the advanced drag and I think twice with the one that increases the size of the zone and both are just too slow to keep up with him.

I just want to get the mk3 but it feels like I need the mk4 just to stand a chance of reeling one in.

hughejasse1: I will assume that since I caught the banded version by Crater without any weather effect and just a Mark II, no other reel mods, that the location helps; I did use grilled fish though. Thanks for the video and take care.

chrishinkley5743: Took me over 1k casts and 600 plus caught to get a damn leatherback used all my improved once i got mk2 last night and i know i hooked a couple but the mk2 reel is still absolute dogfart slow to catch it rotation speed is such bullshit this is the worst fishing system in any game ive been forced to play to unlock content

empirion502: I caught one with Mark 2 and the improved gears mod (random drop from an alt's daily)....ended up going on a tear last night and got the Mark 3 reel in one go - but it took almost 100 improved bait across the Mire, Ash Heap, and Skyline fishing spots to get it. Farm that improved bait!

I choose to set my camp up on the south side of lake near thunder mountain I fish and due events and collect fusion cores from this spot I use the nuke zone score from the enclave score board and I also use the grilled fish

jennameyers5476: I’m slowly realizing how lucky I was lmao. I got an axolotl on both my main and ghoul characters first try right outside the retreat with a MK 1 reel and improved bait. No upgrades. And no weather.
