UNICORNF3TUS: Been in a fallout mood lately so I tried 4 again and it just has SO many problems I couldn't last.. I reluctantly booted up 76 since it's free2play atm and WOW I have been hooked for 2 weeks now.

Despite all the issues it's had over the years, joining as a new player right now is legit a great experience. There's a shitload of cool stuff to do, and despite being online, you don't have to interact with other people at all.

If you're dying for some new fallout and haven't played 76, I definitely suggest giving it a shot and playing the wastelanders beginner quests.

crunchyfrog555: I think you sum up your feelings rather well about the game as it really mirrors mine. You say you don't get it, me neither.

In regular Fallout games there's always a nice progression and aim to draw you through - whether it's story related, or just grinding up the levels, or some other focus, you feel the draw and aim to go in a certain direction (metaphorically).

I just don't get that with 76. I bought the game cheap on sale (£5 for PS4) not long after release, and deliberately left it to get a bit better. I've played it many times, and yet each session seems to end up up prematurely with me kind of losing interest, because it's puzzling. There's no draw and no real impetus.

Many times I've found myself following an obvious target questline which leads you somewhere new, and you do the quest, nose around a bit, and then go back to camp wondering what the hell to do next as it's so disjointed.

It also has really poor polish in this regard. There's no real clues or helpers that push you if you're getting lost or have stagnated.

ShakaTechie: Fallout 76 is definitely a more story lite game compared to its single player counterparts. A trade off for the easy jump in/out style of coop gameplay it is designed around. Not everyone's cup of tea for sure...
