What ZeniMaxs Latest Layoffs Mean for the Future of The Elder Scrolls Online

CABWrites: I feel like people are missing the bigger picture here. ZOS was wildly inefficient, had a project with no deliverable timeline that they’ve been working on for seven years, for which they had spent many millions of dollars. Furthermore, they had a cash cow of a game that they were continuing to neglect, and instead focusing on a managed decline of a successful product. Of course, people with fiscal sense will step in and rectify this disastrous situation. I don’t want to sound cruel, but I hope they fire more people responsible for the decisions and delays that have afflicted ESO over the years.

unmechanized1: I had a feeling that this breeze was starting to blow when they canceled that 10 year anniversary event.

atonofspiders: What happened to loot boxes as a daily reward? I fet like that was a good business model bc I was always tempted to buy more when opening just one.

michellestorz6179: I believe now they'll start to give us a better indepth game

byrdy9109: Maybe the more big focus on Ginas poor dogs healthiness than on the game in live stream will also have its consequences?

atonofspiders: It’s 2025 and Bowser is a CEO of Nintendo. Unrelated but it’s the mood of it all.

ESOLeroyJenkins: You’re the first person I’ve seen that’s actually spoken this the way it needs to. It’s cutting fat…cutting people collecting paychecks on a ‘project’ that was never gonna happen and 10 years in we know nothing. Same with rest of the firings….

You’re opinion on unions, never judge a book by its cover. You’re one educated & informed human. You’re going to piss a lot off speaking the truth.

This is only going to help Microsoft in the future. Honestly f ESO, i love the game but it’s bigger than that. This is a message to their studios to stop messing around, wasting time and actually work.

bigblueperc: More than likely a W, the developers have had bad rep for multiple years

MGSparkle: DEJ TOOK OUR JAWBSSS

fueldbyirony8126: I’m praying this means all those pvp complaints that have been rampant for years are solved we get new existing Provence pieces unlocked and not some made up island that got lazily retconned in

simonemichelle: My first reaction to hearing the news about the new MMO being axed was positive, even though people on Reddit are saying it’s not a good thing for ESO. But one of the biggest content creators for eso made a video about it and stopped playing around 2023, citing the new MMO as a major reason why, a shiny new game that’s being made using all the money from ESO. When I read the news it was cancelled, at the same time seeing all the videos regarding TES VI and radio silence from Bethesda after the Shattered Space DLC, I’m guessing it was most likely a Starfield MMO

chasecoats7711: Every time I have to feed my cat she is feline good about not being hungry

kermidiu4390: For those who don't know me, I have played ESO since launch in 2014 and have been a Guild Master on ESO since 2015. I felt like 2025 was the "make it or break it" year for ESO. So either it greatly succeeds or does so bad that it shuts down. Either way, I'm not dragging a guild through a semi-optimal MMO anymore. So I can't lose.

branmikefrye: The point of unions is not “you don’t get fired.” More about collective bargaining in the face of massive corps who usually wield all the power.

Do you trust large corps to do what’s best for individual little guys? Regular folks?

kermidiu4390: Personal Opinion: I don't think we have the right to "knock on" Project Blackbird because we don't know anything about it.

prisonmykee2595: Matt could have left whenever he wanted. Him “quitting” at the same time as the lay offs is no coincidence.

x-roshtemaky2484: the only thing I don´t understand... wwhat do you mean about exploring their oun fursonas... does that happened on camera, or it is a know situation???

Aside from that... the last trailer for Soltice felt so off... i was wathing for something epic Medieval fantasy scale... and what i received was like a degassified soda... whith a lot of ice.... looks good it taste no so bad... but i wanthed something way better...

somehow others creator contents who work on build and dungeons strategies do it more profesional than some of the officials streams... dod you heard or rembember about Battleground Stream controversy last time...

the bad thing.. is we have to wait to see if there is an improvement... and thta is worrysome... what if... things go even worts...

flyingdutchman2996: Good takes, friend.

PxNxWxGxW: ESO needed a house cleaning.

knightyknightz: Over 9000 !!! AAAHHHHHHH

piggvomit: I know everybody's worried about AI, but honestly AI might just cut the crap jobs from the world. And replace jobs like marketing.

I'm a practitioner who works urgent care and hospice and I'm the CEO of two self built campgrounds right now. Go work for that money ain't nobody replacing me anytime soon.

chasecoats7711: Great video. I'll be running Unhallowed grave for a pledge later if you wanna join me

yt.0wunp6j6: Sir, you can't imagine how relieved I am to finally hear someone who thinks like me on this subject... it's like having crossed the desert and finally finding an oasis.

I recognize the effort you've made to remain magnanimous towards Zenimax, even though the situation calls for an even harsher reality check.

BrownSugarNZD: Good video bro. Very well described. I think this is the 2nd video I've listened to from you. I like ur mindset on these kind of technical issues, I fully agree with you on. Subscribed.

morbias8321: Your opinions are very solid and expressed in a vigorous vibe. I like it. But man keep in mind unions in some countries are very important, its like saying the red cross is useless
