What Will Happen to ESO Now?

LGCY_RAVEN: Oh wow, thanks for reading my comment! Theyre not losing me as a player. ESO is my mmo of choice and my favorite universe. I'm here until the end

karzankhoshnaw1965: Seriously 500 people and it took 2 years for overland difficulty which is basically dmg and dmg taken multiplier? Really?

nikolasismusic4389: I believe there is still hope

MissZuvi: "End? No, the journey doesn't end here." - Gandalf

leivendil: Thank you for being positive! We are here for ESO, so ESO will be here for us!

Bad_Nobu: It's basically a course correction. All tech companies hired a lot of employees during covid. Now that the numbers are going back to what they are supposed to be, we see a lot of layoffs. To be honest, 50% of employees in tech and media are dead weight nowadays. Just look at the AAA games employees nowadays.

mattl8987: What happens? Fk it, we ball. And if ESO goes downhill I'm gonna ride it for all it's worth. Nothing lasts forever but I'll always have my memories and friends I made playing this game.

AveSinistra: i have heard they had middle management bloat

nikolasismusic4389: I believe there is still hope there are a lot of negative people and they will always be around but there are people like me and a lot of people who believe there is hope there are people who believe there is hope I believe that there is hope as long as there's a little bit of hope there is a chance I've played ESO for 3 years I'm not going anywhere I'm staying there is hope

spaceace8393: The idea that only useless employees got fired and they were "trimming the fat" is pure cope. The idea that AI can produce ESO is also pure cope.

bosniak92: instead of saying dead weight, i said " cut the fat" and skinny cheeks got butt hurt and banned me from his twitch lol. imo this game will continue.

ReflexVE: The woke hiring process? Are you for real????

Also your numbers are way off, I'm ex Microsoft and have plenty of friends still there. They had under 400, closer to 350 team members.

Microsoft is NOT using AI for management either, that's an absurd assertion.

Your analysis is based on some absurd leaps of logic.

nathannowak1405: This is the most inspirational video on a video game I've ever seen lol. As a long time player myself, based off the comment you read on how much content that is in this game, there are achievements on xbox for just completing on normal difficulty for dlc dungeons is a fraction of a percent. So with that said im ok with how much content there is in this game. It's a staggering amount for casual players. Now try hard no life people thats different lol. Which is why small things like a new trial or arena every six months would be great. In my honest opinion, focusing on quality of life improvements, visual improvements, and class/ skill line refreshes is what this game needs to not feel stail. I dont think eso is done. Now for example, destiny 2, is a different story not sure completely what happened there but I feel like eso was way more profitable on a monthly basis. More money means happy company which means more content means happy players.

EricCartman-s7c: vejo isso com bom olhos, todos nos sabemos que tinha muita gente ali só ganhando dinheiro sem fazer seu trabalho

Jannah_2k: The amount of copium.. reminds me of the New World players even after the news about game closing down, some were still thinking "everything gonna be fine" and some miracle rescues the situation. Everyone can do head math with this situation and know the spiral of no content will make even more people leave, and when even more people leave the game makes even less money = they will do even more layoffs and by end of 2027 they will announce end of service to ESO. Why waste time and money on a dead game?

LydiaKrow: I was shocked when the announcement came out because of the numbers mentioned - the context I was missing was how many employees they started with. 500?! I thought after layoffs last year they were already running lean and couldn't afford to lose anyone. Now it makes a lot more sense that they were trimming the fat. I'm also wondering if they are requiring people to return to the office and some employees decided to opt out. At any rate, that still leaves more than enough people. I haven't been overly thrilled with the new direction of content in ESO, but there's still plenty for me to do there I've been playing on and off since Beta so I'm going to see it out. I also played a lot of New World and for anyone there from the beginning we all knew why that game was shuttered, even if we did enjoy the combat and world building. If ESO had similar problems it would already have been shuttered.

SatelliteMind89: Interesting analysis by Gemini, lets hope for the best.

ScottDenney-k6m: I know it’s been an emotional roller coaster but I’m in agreement that it’s “trimming the fat”. I think that maybe microsoft looked at the inherent flaws of the game that shouldn’t be there in the many years they been developing ESO that they still can’t release an update without causing issues like the current gate issue for the new thieves guild quest line.

Maybe working in a hospital where standards has to be high for my job that nobody is just checking emails and playing on their phones I would expect people who I’m sure who makes a lot more money than me to have the highest standards and productivity because they are blessed to be in that position. Maybe that’s why they got cut because the quality of their work is mediocre at best.

BTW it nice to find a steamer who a fellow Christian my son and I enjoy your videos very much.

largemouthbass355: Unfathomably based

allcomplexthingsdecay: If you think a shift to AI doesn't result in an even more overly monetized and predatory game, well.... you're delusional

Obllviun: Way to bring it down to earth. Good video

takh6806: Fewer landwhales always means a better work environment for truly talented developers

rikku942: I didn't work on an MMO but in school we made an hour-long game in college that took 3 months. It only took 5 people to make something decent in that small of time... You don't need 200 people working on the game to make a game work.

BlueInk1: W prayer

757gamerguy2: The layoffs angered me deeply as a corporate hating man.

But I think ESO will live on but at a slower pace. I think what was happening to the game was what happens to most trading card games…fatigue. Too many new sets, too frequent meta changes without simple tweaks. I think with less staff, the game might chill on frequent crazy meta shifts where we get the best gear and then boom it changes. I’m loving the season thing.

BMFrye: I dunno. I just think if you zoom out and look at the bigger picture of the last few years, it seems like bad news bears. Lots of dots that add up to negative outcomes for the game.

Some of those dots were cause for your celebration. Like certain people getting shit canned. But as part of that full picture, they look like signs of planned pillaging and ship jumping. Higher ups knowing what is coming. And we’re seeing it play out, with these same bad omens at play, with other beloved games.

So my outlook is grim. I’m looking for other “home” games.

xXTMoneyXx: I believe MANY different companies will be getting the Axe soon due bloat and subsidies to other companies lack of performance, game making, or other things. I believe ESO will still be supported. It maybe slower, and but less overheads. It'll also help if they have a direction or goal when making these chapters too. Sure keep players happy but also make great stories. Heck more tie in with other NPCs in different chapters and places.. that sounds like a big ask. I have My goals in mind that keep me coming back. I want to start my own guild, an RPG like, but dungeons, trials, PvP, and I want to make a Nuisance of a tank.. that's why I keep playing. Plus Drip and RP, but those are bonus. In a world full of MMORPGs. Sometimes some are gonna sink.
