Shopping Cartd1zzleTX: "It's gonna be alright!" - New World players a year ago
jasonbriggs6839: This slow kill method happened to EQOA on ps2. Servers lasted 12 yrs total. The last 2 years were just like what we are experiencing now on ESO.
apal5757: The amount of people in chat who are opting to throwing their blind support at zos, and encouraging others to do the same, is just really odd.
smsucks7174: What many gamers still don’t seem to realize is… gaming is being slowly destroyed by design. “You will own nothing , and you will like it”
theanunakian64: It had a good run 5k hours later.
pneuma8: They can look up Destiny 2 and New World as example where big corporations will use the profitability excuse to kill the game eventually
tinasmith1391: It's still bringing in about $150 million in pure profit per year. I don't see them just throwing it away. It will be around for years yet until people stop spending so much money in it. You're free to dream though.
K893lv: In Spopes defence, he was VERY positive (and possibly even ignoring red flags) before Writhing Wall. People are not suddenly hating, it’s disappointment repeatedly over time and people were slightly getting hopeful, and then the lay offs hit . Even saying ‘oh the team is same size as Wrothgar’ was Spopes trying to be hopeful. Problem with that comparison though is it’s now a completely different team than ‘the OGs’. If anything Spopes is becoming a realist and some people are just covering their ears screaming ‘La La La La!’
songoftheabyss3801: Eso has been my home for years, would break my heart if/when they shut her down
CrazyMcBeeProductions: When it ends it just ends I said that from day 1 playing it. No need to be a doomer just remember the fun you had people you meet
christinafarist1357: hi
ThraintarIronshield: Bring us Akavir! I bet that will draw a lot of interest.
pneuma8: The game development direction is to use AI to not only develop it, but also maintaining it. You are seeing accelerated layoffs in the game industry
Loggerguy-x7f: I’ll just go back to my modded Skyrim:)
edgyebi1610: I feel bad for the people that enjoy their time in ESO. I could never tolerate the writing and art design of ESO, it never felt like a TES game. For me it's an offensive product that degrades the TES franchise so I am glad it could be going away.
Edit: I'm glad you comment on Toxic Positivity, that's exactly what drove huge chunks of people like me away. When we wanted better writing, we were told to shut up. When we wanted the Lore to be respected, we were told to shit up. The Toxicly positive consumer wing of the franchise are a big part of how ESO ended up in the state it is. It's been the case for every franchise over the last 20 years.
某権兵衛: The Buddha said:
Nothing in this world lasts forever.
Everything is constantly changing.
The past is gone, and the future is yet to come.
Thinking about it won't change anything.
Cherish this present moment.
No one knows the truth about the future of ESO.
Just as God is unknowable.
There was a time when we didn't know what to believe.
But we know: Only you can change yourself.
Cheers to ESO!
andyfranklin707: Let me be clear. I really like ESO and want to see it continue to be successful. The main problem I see is that the people running ESO right now are now fully invested in it. When your heart isn't in it the predictable result is going to be obvious. It's known that there were and probably still are some toxic developers and managers that should never have gotten involved with ESO. I think it's time to find developers and managers among the ESO community who actually are daily players with a passion for making ESO a truly unique and innovative MMO. WOW and other MMO's are still running so there's no reason ESO can't do the same for at least five or so more years. At some point You run out of lore, content, and events to create and write. That's all I'm saying. The sad thing is that ESO deserves a much more respectable exit. Not just being treated as a footnote on a corporate ledger.
cassiaphire3645: hybrid and subclassing were the wrong direction. Each class was had multiple stam/mag/tank/heal builds (especially when you factor in armors, etc). hybrid and subclass is lazy. it claims to 'give choices' but it is exactly the opposite - because choice isn't meaningful - just give everything to everybody. hybrid stam arcanist beam...lol. the word arcane means magical. not stam. such a joke.
bagofrice: so now you're upset that they aren't trying to milk players via the crown store? i get the game could easily die after this, not arguing that part but harping on the crown store not having a sale is kind of weird. as an old school player that just came back i care way more about pvp balance than anything to do with crowns or sales. id rather see the entire crown system be completely removed to be honest. just keep the monthly sub and make everything available for everyone. create a reward system for actually playing the game not just spending money on cosmetics.
robertanorth5195: Player from day 1, I love this game! This is breaking my heart at the thought this ending... guess I better play as much I can now!
ian_the_demon4713: came back several times, started with the covid hype haha.
sad to see my favorite mmo in such a declining state.
i think you make a good point of being cautious going forward, maybe even trying out different games that can scratch the eso itch.
Aggressiveduck: The "new" solo dungeons give crap overworld gear as rewards, oh yeah and there is yet another currency now, 2k of the new undaunted currency for one whole coffer that gives...a key!
sandokanfrits: At least as an altoholic I can stop playing since I have leveled 20/20 slots to level 50. So unless ESO let us buy extra slots, there is less need for me to play ESO at the moment.
gamingvideos8212: I wonder if they plan to shut down ESO and Fallout 76 in the next 4 years? But if they do I expect them to release new online games to replace them
samuraichicken2315: We keep saying that Microsoft will never shut down ESO as long as it is making a profit.
I think this is a fallacy. Microsoft’s perspective is that it has 200 employees at ZOS and if these people can make more money doing something other than ESO, they will shut down the servers and move them on.
xperfectechox4516: ESO died like 20 expansions ago
amandajames5595: Writhing wall was the worlds laziest concept . So now I’m fighting a wall?
