Relequen NERF Explained ESO

Frostingale: fantastic video! i didn't really notice any loss from relequen when i tested it, but i didn't know the rough numbers from the change.

jobid4947: I am parsing 8k less since the patch on my magplar. It seems crazy to blame that all on the relequen change but I don't think anything else about my build has changed, or that I have forgotten how to do damage...

hxppy_snek: claiming the set is "dead" now or useless is obviously a big overstatement but i think it is still fair to be a little mad about this nerf, especially since it is completely unnecessary.

we're not exactly having issues because there is too much single target damage in the game and in terms of single target trial sets, especially now that null arca is kinda bad too it's just becoming harder and harder to find a good fit. this becomes worse if you have low crit chance so you're relying on this 6%

the other thing to be mad about is them claiming these changes are to make the set more thematical, which in the case of adding weapon damage makes a little sense at least since the proc won't crit, but adding penetration to a single target set feels anything but thematic.

single target fights are the last place where you should be lacking pen, it wasn't difficult to get to pen cap in the first place and for a set from a 12-man trial i think it's fair to assume that people should understand the mechanic

this also plays into ZOS' recent weird obsession of adding pen lines to EVERY fucking set which is especially stupid since it makes these sets more difficult to play around and if you are in the situation of lacking pen it is so much easier to just bring a light Kra'gh piece or use a mace or two instead of a set line that you always have to build around, whether you need it or not

Bowmanganie: As a usual solo player that does not do very many trials, and when I do they are never "optimized", I have tried builds with Relequen and have never felt it was worth getting. Now I know why. Interesting video, especially with the way people flip out over things.

vladimirsviridov7114: Is there anyone still using relequen on u45?

CJSH77: This is why I quit the game. They keep nerfing good gears or builts.

Frogthroat1: There is also one thing to consider: perfected vs non-perfected. In a non-coordinated group vCR is fairly difficult so obtaining the perfected version may not be easy for everyone. The old version having a line of stamina for perfected meant that for magicka based DDs it made no difference and even for stamina DDs the gain was minimal. Now with the penetration replacing crit and having a beneficial perfected bonus means the perfected is important.

But then again, how badly you need to optimise. If you really need the extra line of weapon and spell power you are probably trying to optimise for the end game anyway.

sos9286: While the changes to Rele's stats are a nerf for optimized groups and a buff to unoptimized groups I feel like the biggest nerf to Rele is incoming.

The stat line changes are very favorable to PvP where pen and w/s damage is equates to more damage and healing vs the old version where the crit chance was 2 dead stats and the stam was a more neutral line. Old rele was already being commonly ran in PvP because of how good the proc is and the new rele is strictly an upgrade in PvP. This is all well and good but ZoS seems to have a slight history where if there is any set that is good in PvP and PvE then they gut the set.

Null arca is the latest example. The multi proc that let it be a competitive end game DPS set was abused in PvP so they removed that feature without giving it a damage buff to compensate so now it's just worse than pillar of nirn.

Savage werewolf was considered a poor man's rele back in the day and then the set got changed and nerfed in the same sweep. The straw that broke the camels back on that set was the PvP builds using it as the bleed was bugged due to ranged light attack desync. You know what set they swapped to and still utilizes desyncs to do more damage... Rele!

I will honestly be surprised if rele makes it to the end of the year without at least a 1 second cool down on the damage dealt by the set (killing desync and the double light attack tics) and knowing how ZoS doesn't do small nerfs when they change a 5 piece they'll likely gut the damage on the proc too for good measure.

GetOutofMyPug: thank you so much for doing this. the outrage over this change was so uncalled for lol

wildux8221: And what about Null Arca ? Could you explain for it too?

bro_nz1178: This game is still going?!

polvocorrupto: Meanwhile, some players are starting to use Relequem Draugrkin builds at PVP more often since Update 45.

IROPP4I: Thankyou! What about poisonous serpent? Is it just straight up useless now?

richardpowell1425: I didn’t follow the timing part of your video. Is it to light attack slightly slower than usual? Since I use Rele on 10 DD characters I feel this is important to know.

Xxtearsontapexx: Moras whispers maybe

CreativeExcusesGaming: That penetration line actually just makes rele the default BIS solo single target damage set for everything but arcanist which sucks because it was ALREADY the best in slot for that

I should parse it out, but I bet I can hit 55-57k with rele on a one bar build now, on a 3m dummy. Gross. Edit: I bet its higher than that. Maybe up to 60k on a DK. On a 3m dummy with only my own buffs. Gross, mostly because rele didnt need a buff for that use case at ALL. ANY other set could have used a buff for this format of build.
