zGoldenPawz: I finally got an update on my ban situation. ZOS emailed me back explaining my permanent ban was for saying the word "bitch".

Was it appropriate or acceptable? No it was not. I genuinely offer my applogy to the player i was harmful and rude towards as well as the community in general for breaking away from my normal behavior.

Am i a human though? With over 6 months of in game login time. 8 years of account life. And probably no previous strikes of harmful language usage in the past.... yes.

The reveive a permanent ban with no hope of appeal seems wild.

Thousands of dollars in the game, not only to myself but also monthly raffle gifts to the guild i run.

All taken away from a single argument which was lowkey a malicious setup by a player who had been harassing me via voice chat to antagonize me into retaliation . And BOOM i type bitch and get banned. Like. Come on ZOS.....

Contextually i had reported this player multiple times in the last 4 months and every time i sent screenshots of them saying worse one time i even sent screenshots of them saying to KYS .... but suddenly the layoffs happen and now bans are handled WAY differently

Blank-Knight: They don't have much support personnel and they use this tool with quite aggressive filters/settings.

Every MMO keeps logs, ZOS ofc goes even further and scans and bans without anyone reporting.

The support personnel ONLY bothers to get active if the person protests the erroneous ban.

There is a fundamental issue there as well. Constant monitoring in near real time is a nightmare and nobody in charge at ZOS had a problem with that.

damienscott6537: they're all using AI moderation now. New World always swore up and down that they weren't, but people could just get 5 people to report someone mid battle and get them banned. I got banned in the beta because a group of people were goading others into saying mundane things to get them banned because they mentioned "women" or something. it was instantaneous and blatantly obvious that the whole thing was automated.

If they are not very careful ZOS will end up playing a part in their own destruction. They would do well to improve their customer service right now.

xps2unix: I've done my daily writs in Rivenspire for years. I would always see 5 or 6 players standing around at the stairs near the blacksmith. They all had names that had "DOM" or "SM" in them. About two years ago I noticed they were gone. I've never seen them since. I always figured they were um, let's call it roll playing. When they disappeared I suspected they had put some kind of AI monitoring in.
