Shopping CartSteven-qc2sz: We've all seen the complaints about slow bug fixes (sometimes years) and bad communication. Losing Gina and Mike might unclog a bottle neck.
Elmodias1: People forget that bethesda was able to create masterpieces like morrowind, oblivion and skyrim with under 100 people and put them out them consistently with only 5-6 years between major releases.
Now that they are bloated with middle management and activists, we are like 15 years without a proper ES and 10 without a proper fallout.
Numbers don't mean anything if you don't have quality. And from what I've seen of the people being fired, Gina complaining about mansplaining and writers putting in modern "sensibilities" like non-binary characters,, I'm glad that they are out of the picture.
XxPLoSiVeZ: Refreshing. Someone actually looking at this objectively
IIIMambaIII: See Spopes, this is why I keep coming back to your channel for content. Rational, logical, genuine, well explained/expressed thought.
vicdamon3551: This is why I can’t watch anyone else since I found you. You’re my people no bullshit.
Iphoniez: ️️️ ive been here since Day 1, so imma stay until the Kalpa happens
Susanottesen-q6e: Yeah. I’m with ya. I was kind of tired of the dev shows where it was the Gina and her dog hour. I have hopes that this is the refresh that will energize the game and the crew.
Yeah. I think that Microsoft did a dirty but that is corporate culture.
EthanO4K: dude what is with the hair
RPGShaqtics: 100% agree with your take. I witness the very same thing in my job space and i know damn well lots of others who work in any corp does too
BMFrye: Seems like a lot of players were attached to Gina. And she had been around since the beginning, right? In that sense, there is lost value. Getting rid of one of the most public-facing, well-known representatives of the team for the community. A loss that also introduces resentment and detachment, on top of the uncertainty that comes with any layoffs.
This is essentially the same take you had last time, really. “This isn’t bad, it’ll actually make things better. They were lazy and useless anyways.” It becomes cope at some point.
How many rounds of layoffs will it take until that layer of cope can’t cover up what is really going on for you? How long can you blame employees you don’t know and a work culture you aren’t a part of?
At some point we have to face the reality of the situation. It has been one thing after another for a while now. Two rounds of layoffs and running off the founder and president are BAD signs, man.
You yourself jumped over to New World when you were getting bad vibes from ESO, getting bored. Then THAT game immediately got shut down, rug pulled. It should have slapped you in the face then. MMOs are in a bad way right now. Developers who were recently bought out by big corps are getting asset stripped, siphoned, milked, wrung out, then ditched.
omensoffate: Gina Bruno most overpaid person ever
nikolasismusic4389: O my God its someone who is paying attention and giving us info instead of saying this is the end o my God this is why we subscribe to you
themetal6216: I work in DevOps and corporate will axe you if you don't provide worth, targeted annually, This is not what's happening here. When corporate axes a large portion of a studio or operations team they are off boarding and preparing for the end life cycle of the live service / product. I'll give it 6-12 months before they announce no further support and or server closure.
unmechanized1: When layoffs happen, it generally leads to the unaffected workers bolstering efforts to remain employed. This is what happened after last year’s round of layoffs. This will not be any different.
ethanward3912: They took out the trash. I know its hard for most to understand that, yes sometimes people do deserve to be fired. Choices made, paid too much and gave nothing. So yeah trash is gone. Hard pill for soft people to swallow. The lead design of pve content big deal. You can recolor and reuse models only so many times. Reword and reuse mechanics with a splash of flare and expect people to enjoy it only so many times.
clintoncooper3427: Solid takes. You should tone down the snark toward other streamers that went for hyperbole.. You can criticism without the eye roll. Generally I really like your positive vibes.
xmadlen: Every time you say deadweight It reminds me the song Deadweight by Wolves at the gate, deadweight by parkway drive and deadweight by Itprevails
WittySomething: I'm waiting until we have more information, since we have next to nothing right now.
However I checked the list in that post again and apparently Rich also was let go, he was added some time last night or this morning.
delunk5906: Zenimax has triple the # of employees as when ESO launched. It’ll be fine ya’ll, they just over hired and need to trim the fat.
tyler8242: Looks like they cut some dead wood… this is not necessarily a bad thing
dreadnaughtvcn6932: See, this is why I sub to to you, thank you for your look into this. I admit I bought into the panic crew for a time but sitting, thinking and listening to you shows that all is good.
God bless and thanks for your work.
kaiel_adelar: When i first saw the zenimax cuts, i didn't believe ESO was in trouble. I figure if ESO was over, ESO would've just been shut down, and they all would've been laid off. It does seem more like streamlining vs shutting down.
That said, i was surprised with skinnycheeks' video reaction. I didn't believe the gloom and doom, and i still don't. I believe ESO will continue onwards, as it still seems to be a good source of revenue. I'm seeing other content creators with the same thumbnails of "ESO loses half it's staff" and "Is the end here?" I'm not even bothering to watch these, as they all seem to be overlooking that addendum to the initial statement put out there (at least according to their thumbnails and video titles).
All that to say, what you're saying makes logical sense, good video!
lanidettobri4416: Everquest just celebrated its 27th anniversary it is not in maintenance mode it still gets new quests for events throughout the year. And new expansion yearly they now have 31 expansions.
razorshell3049: Hopefully this give them a kick in the butt so they make better quality content. Nothing has been hyping me much since summerset and most recent chapters likes Solstice, Golad Road or Blackwood were massive disappointment. I wish we can get elder scrolls online back and no longer elder scrolls cosmetic online. If the game eventually dies, i hope someone will do like they did for lotro, totally free server.
dusso4231: Finally, someone not being hyperbolic about the situation.
karoamii1520: My own un-biased opinion, in all honesty I think it will make the future of ESO stronger
Admittedly it may slow down future updates while the team has a quick re-shuffle, but that’s only short term
Everywhere today on YouTube I have seen it’s the end, final nail in the coffin, ESO is dead
There are few actual facts coming out to support what people are stating
From doing some deep diving today, all I see is a company clearing out the deadwood
May sound harsh, but it’s the real world, companies do it all the time
yeeaabuddy86gaming28: Awesome video! I was a little worried with all the videos popping up about “oh ESO is Dead” “ESO is New World now” but your video eased my mind! Been sharing it to everyone I know that plays that was also worried! Thank you again for all your videos and effort in every subject!
