Is ESO Worth Playing In 2026? Pros and Cons After 1000 Hours

SippyCup_1993: I spent over 2,000 hours on this game up to 2021, im not happy with the current game

PurrfectMedia: 16000 hours here. Definitely a great game with so much too do. I play solo often but hopping into dungeons with friends is the most fun. Make friends build a strong social circle in the game and you will have so much more fun.

timothyven: It's us solo players that gives ESO the most support as far as population vs group play. Ove 90% of my gameplay is solo so it'll be nice to finally be able to do more dungeons solo

TikachooYT: 2026 we're so back baby! Let's go!

tomfrakey6335: I'm looking forward to pure classing. I don't care for sub-classing at all. I'm also really curious about the less talked about changes like treasure maps so if you could bring more info on that when you can that'd be great.

WillowandInks: Not coming back because of eso plus costs. Still have to RENT the craft bag.

twofarg0ne763: Still the best MMO out there at the moment.

daelonduluc2025: So what about all of us that have subscribed for many years and already have all DLC's through all the years? What benefit does this give us? What are we getting that makes continuing worth it?

theredgem: Weaving gone yet?

Jammet: It's almost

SamStrand_NFL: I just came back and have so many people doing daily stuff that I was really impressed... Waiting for this new update

bexplosion: Im surprised you didn't mention add-ons and pvp

user-su7fr5jv5t: 5.7k hours. no

gathaspar2831: Is it like POE seasons where you play a new character each season and the previous progress is reset?

Tinyfangs-xyz: What has driven me to playing GW2 again at the moment, is the uncertainty in regards to Cyrodiil. That they have not ruled out the removal of Grayhost, in favour of this new mode they have been working on. I love ESO. Anyone looking for deep lore and loads to do - you got the right game. ESO is massive, it has fantastic content, but through the years, for me personally, Cyrodiil has become very important, and I am very touchy about any changes to Cyrodiil. However, just because I am playing GW2 once more, which is just as amazing a game in it's own right.. doesn't mean I won't play ESO again. Breaks can be needed, just that this time I will be keeping a close eye on the Cyrodiil news, and should they remove Grayhost completely, not sure I will come back. Any new players though - try ESO, it's fantastic and it will keep you busy for a long time. Or GW2. Both have loads to offer.

vpwav.x3: ive played since 2017, have around 400 hours, playing all the content in chronological order, and am only on clockwork city

Translator-x2x: No

Cris1Mac: Just curious. Where can you find how many hours you have in ESO? I know the Steam version has it. But what about the non-Steam PC version? Is it possible?

Chain_Sprocket-XD: the craft bag is the reason I don't play anymore. if it wasn't for that I would play and chuck them a coupla bucks whenever I can afford it like I do with guild wars 2. but being hamstrung on the crafting like that is a dealbreaker for me. :(

willywuson3666: I had to stop playing ESO is a money pit and with new update in 2026, the pit is getting deeper. Love ESO, but it's for rich people because you just have to have it all.

nata5808: I love ESO but i would totally stick with Wow if i had a good pc for it

DJ-1Q84: Play Warframe if you actually care about gameplay and your wallet.

mattafact808boom: Yea I'm stoked to get back into this and the fact that the premium pass doesn't expire is huge!

ThalisBrow: The research changes are basically enough for me to get back, 30 days was absolutely insane

111Tob111: I started playing three days ago and I really like it. I first was sceptical because I'm not a fan of having to read much or listening to fully voiced dialogs. But I gave it a chance and now I'm really immersed in the lore and the atmosphere. But I have to research how to max my dmg potential because I didn't put work into learning the combat system like canceling stuff and so on.
