ESO Writhing Wall Event Review The Good and The bad and The Daedra

hanknorris5642: I appreciate ZOS directly acknowledging the near failure - it's not a complete failure, of this event. The rewards mostly sucked and the dailies were aggravatingly tedious and unrewarding.

The Writhing Fortress was a good concept. It had bugs that infuriated many.

Did ZOS lose me as a player, not yet, but they are on notice.

OLDGREG951: i personally liked phase 1 (for like 4 days) especially the quest that had you go to different zones it felt like all of tamriel was a part of the event, phase 2 shouldn't have existed imo, phase 3 was super cool but it really brought out the whiners who just felt like complaining for fun.

blktauna: Phase 2 should have been a portal to a pocket realm for 1 or 2 people similar to phase 3 but smaller scale. Phase 3 is excellent when it works.

ronward2693: All in on having leads in the coffers. Especially if some are only available from the coffers. Keeping them available like they are with the defend the camp dalies.

efrus66: It was seriously a grind after 1 week and then we got 3 weeks and an overlap with witches. Event fatigue anyone. Also the bugs. For something that everyone hyped up as the new thing ie. seasons. it was seriously bad due to bugs.

timothyven: Hiyas Jake!

My take on this event. It was built on the

kevincoughlin3455: The idea of adding leads to the reward boxes is honestly a banger idea, ngl!

Apocryphal_Transit: I tried to play stage 3 at least 3 times and every time, it was bugged. GW2 it is. I need an ESO hiatus. I mean, I paid for this. The juice is not worth the squeeze, right now. Thing is, I’ve already been $squeezed$.

atlassheppard: Ha, I'm still grinding for Coldharbour. I should just buy it and be done with it.

kellygallagher5447: "I'm commending him on his ability to avoid social interactions."

I feel understood by association, thank you

harrykleinfelter3538: I went in to phase 3 right as the timer zeroed out. It took a little bit to get the mechanics in some spots, but it was fun learning the tactics as we went along. Fortunately, i didn't experience any issues with bugged content. I completed on my first try.

nickarkesteyn: If I was a developer who's team only had the first half of solstice completed...id make it so the efforts to take down the wall hade no real value...and as my team got closer to developing the second half of the island...Id turn the dial up a bit to make it look like the wall progress was moving along.

And once my team had everything good to go...I'd bring down the wall.

I think it is just a way to give the players something while I work on the next part of the content

syoudipta: David, I feel you, bro.

OmegaGoonie: Phase 3 would have been fun if it worked. I’d be mad at Zos but I’m the idiot who keeps playing a broken game.

JamesOKeefe-US: I am actually enjoying Eastern Solstice and enjoyed the Writhing Fortress. They should have had Phase 1 and 2 be like a day long and it would have been much better. Phase 1 & 2 were honestly infuriating.

alichino5674: This event ended up being fairly disappointing due to all the bugs. Phase 1 and 2 being essentially the same was a let down as well. The writhing fortress itself is good, when it’s working. It’s good that they’re willing to try new things but it seems as though everything this year has been rushed out.

Caughtinacap: A little something different for the vet players that got the coldharbour surreal estate 7 years or so ago would have been nice. Seems a bit shortsighted

jandys6328: I wish they'd give people already owning that house something.. guess I have to exploit and cry like a baby to get compensation

360racord: I had to open three help tickets yesterday because the event is busted. Skardo was missing and I couldn't turn in the quest. I can't collect any skyshards in eastern solstice and the eastern infernium got stuck mid way to the gate.

blueballs7669: Honestly I don't think adding more chase items is the answer, what these boxes need is a guarantee of net positive gain. If you sit down and run the numbers from this event most folks, with the exception of those who have unusually good RNG, have lost value by engaging with this event. I don't just mean they could have been making more gold or XP or whatever by doing literally anything else in the game but that the rewards from the event boxes are so bad they aren't even worth the crafting materials spent getting them.

The very first thing any dev should ensure is that their "new" content actually rewards the player for engaging with it; You can waste our time but not our resources or our resources but not our time, good content will waste neither this content wastes both.

McF1lthy: Great review, Jake! Glad you had suggestions and not just complaints

Craignelsun: I like the idea of the island split in half with a wall, one side taken over and the other side not.

They needed better rewards

viperrecon5: I actually got the coldhabor house yesterday from the daily lmao. I thought someone gifted it to me by accident when I got the notification. Definitely wasn't expecting to actually win like that.

dorsidhion81: I'm on PC-NA and when I noticed how far behind we were my first thought was, "Oh this must be bad cuz we just stopped trying." lol

davidmonaghan1896: I did make a lot of mats from running the armourer daily on alts w/o a point in the craft lines which gave out twice the mats they cost.
