Shopping Cartmoonhaewon6689: Idk, they keep fumbling and fumbling and monetization is still terrible, you can buy the deluxe complete edition and still not have access ro the whole game
Thiniking: I would buy a patch that would make ESO an offline game. I would pay full AAA price for it.
As for its future? If they don’t figure out a way for cross play, the game will die.
traviswilson36: Cool analysis and even better prayer!
WittySomething: Genuinely, I still think it's better to withhold judgement, even now. For one, we still don't have the updated roadmap or statement. It's going to take time for them to get that stuff sorted out.
For another, even knowing the full list, we still don't have enough information. I went through the list of positions that were affected and while it doesn't separate them between ZOS and ZM, 116 positions had the term Senior, Lead, Director, or Manager in their title. Now that doesn't account for the number if people IN that position; for example, one of the titles was Senior QA Tester II, of which 47 people were laid off. I just counted the number of positions that had those words as titles. And again, keep in mind we don't know how many of those 47 were with either ZOS or ZM's team.
Normally a person would think losing so many management positions is a bad thing, and typically it would be. But people need to remember a very important thing in this instance: with some teams/studios. That's a ton of managerial overhead. And looking at the list of positions terminated, it definitely feels like ZM/ZOS were part of that number. And Senior members on a team are almost always a layer of management.
Meanwhile around 70 of the positions weren't managerial. I forgot the exact number already because brain no work gud. And other than 19 of those being QA people, none of them really went above more than a couple of people impacted.
When going on double the positions let go were those of managerial level compared to those not, it really does feel like this was trimming the fat and cutting down heavily on excessive levels of overhead.
We won't really know for like a year or so more than likely how the layoffs have affected the game, for better or for worse.
MFCzm-i: I've played FO76 for a while now, and it's a shitter game compared to ESO but it still has an active player base.
I think ESO will be ok.
ESO for new players still has so much to offer and i still meet new players all the time in ESO compared to 76.
sk8legendz: Summerset was the best
Elsweyr onward has introduced performance issues and metas so toxic/nonsensical that players left
I remember elsweyr release, bug affected everythinh but the crown store
jokeassasin7733: ZOS management made extremely poor decisions when the engine was being built.
To start building an engine at 32bit when 64bit went mainstream in 2006 and by 2009 was default.
The poor server performance predates the Microsoft purchase. The main PVP campaign would slideshow during heavy combat.
bassseb: As a ESO player since launch on Xbox. This video is simply perfect. It perfectly explains the incredible but flawed journey ESO has been for Elder Scrolls fans and mmo fans alike. I hope it reaches as many people as possible. You should continue making this type of video. About other games and gaming in general. You are clearly great at it. Cheers.
DreadHarvest: I only just came back to the game recently and have been having a great time. Looking forward to the class reworks even if they’re delayed. Really hoping they make Necromancer more minion based like in Diablo. I’m a long time WoW player but ESO scratches at my love for expansive Bethesda-esque games and action combat.
ZaneWulf: People didn't like Gold road?? I loved it! My main house is there and where I do my daily crafting writs
yesiam7481: Wasting all of the fuckin money for seven years on a project that never came to fruition. If only they reinvested that money back into the MMO that they already had. Complete betrayal of the playerbase
IMO the One-Tamriel update killed the game for me. Every zone felt the fuckin same and it didnt matter anymore what faction you chose
leivendil: I am sure ESO still has a lot of potential. And when I enter the game, see my chars and my drip, I can't make myself leave the game no matter how doomed people think it is. I love this world and still have a lot of plans for it. But of course I would like the game to have new updates, especially the warden rework. What makes me scared is not the lay offs. It's the fact they make ZOS work on TES 6, which will obviously be rushed to grab a lot of cash and save xbox. This means less time for ESO and also not sure how good will TES 6 be with a more rushed schedule which Microsoft will demand.
CrazyMcBeeProductions: Housing is helping keep it a float
simonouellette-allard7486: With Wheeler, I don’t believe in a PVP future for ESO…
CABWrites: The Vengeance test being made a sudden priority tells me one hand doesn't know what the f the other is doing. Brian Wheeler needs to go asap. Who knew (at the time) Wrobel was the one dude on the combat team who knew what he was doing?
Also, the new Bethesda letter makes it sound as if ZOS is being shifted into a support studio role for Elder Scrolls VI.
I’ve already started playing other games. I am not feeling it right now—as much as I love aspects of ESO and as long as my history has been with it. You seem to be diversifying too, which is great. I wouldn’t recommend anyone put all their eggs in this basket.
ravenhawk9069: Thankyou for all your hard work, I must admit that I too am unsure of what to expect for ESO , Poor decisions and lack luster content has doomed ZOS for many years and now the chickens have come home to roost with all these resent layoffs now it seems to confirms what many have seen for awhile but perhaps we thought it would get better but it never did , will this be a kick in ZOS backside to get it together only time will tell
whitewolf5695: I love eso, no game has had the magic it has for me. It just needs some TLC. I thought things were heading in a better direction. I hope we keep getting quality of life improvements and lore focused storytelling.
davidkasparov8043: This seems a lot more like your personal opinions rather than any sort of definitive consensus the way you're presenting it. Plenty of people loved Morrowind's zone plot etc, and disliked Summerset... you mention that Vvardenfell was criticized for being sanitised...well what do you call ESO Alinor where there's no crazy exotic cities made of coral, just a disney palace replica. The area is actually not all that big either thanks to inaccessible mountains and some of the cities in the province basically being wasted because they're relegated into being gimmicky trials/dungeons or what have you rather than actual places you can regularly explore.
For the record I enjoyed both, but acting as if MW was considered a low point is just disingenuous
locke3862: ESO is such a great game. As a day one player who stopped in 2018 after summerset and only returned late 2025. I love a lot of the changes and content they have added. For new players, I know it can be overwhelming, but if you wanted a near infinite game to play where you can do so much, ESO is the game. The community has become WAY better IMO. Xbox NA is easy to find guilds and players who are often playing and willing to help. I’ve made good friends online with people I play with daily now. Got into guilds with so many great active players that was impossible back when the game started.
I hope the game thrives. I’ve seen a lot of new players on the game recently. Lots of people are bringing on their friends and family to play the game. I know I got my brother hooked on it
greorbowlfinder7078: I really enjoyed this game. Played it since release for years and years. I actually liked the chapters and looked forward to them every year. I really enjoyed Cyrodill and Imperial city pvp back in the day. And I loved the quests and lore. After 10k hours I finally felt like I had gotten enough of the game. Thank you ESO.
stephenflippin9711: All of these old MMOs need to make a story mode (single player) difficulty for every 4-man dungeon, flash point etc., which would get the casuals engaged in end game content after learning the fights. And hand out moderately better gear than questing.
joshuacoomer4955: wish i could play wow without a sub smh tired of it all for slop. Hoping they do turn ESO around and with the class reworks when they all come out.
bobjones4469: Increased aggressive monetization is a sign of a dying game, not the cost of it. Although it can cause it to die further.
CrimsonDovha: Nope. Its become irritating, especially traders, prices are everywhere and people try to cheat others by under selling materials, for example glass eyes were once 5k-8k now you see them at 1500-2200 meaning the grind and time you put into furnishing homes or selling furniture has dropped dramatically, people dont buy no more, Ive invested 180M into housing and have noticed a significant drop in prices, at this point I might quit, prices are everywhere and traders are no longer making gold. Shit keep prices up, you see PC and Xbox their prices are staged higher and yet on PS5 prices are scattered. Lower the drop rates and everything and let people grind the game instead of handing them everything.
Fairlyoddlass: Why does it get pronounced eeso instead of ESO ... Irrelevant I know Just curious I hear it alot
derisgaming9773: NGL seems like every modern day Game Studio these days. Get given a Golden Goose Franchise, constantly underdeliver due to like incompetent leadership and poor hiring decisions for your Team, try to milk as much as you can from die hard fans of said franchise, wrap it all up and sail into the sunset with mass firings.
I know its a controversial topic to bring up, but literally every popular game studio i've seen in the last 10 years that has focussed more on diversity with its teams than actual good devs ends up in this same exact place. Bioware, Bungie, DICE, Blizzard, Bethesda, the list goes on.
hvdiv17: Zos isnt even running eso now BGS is
