LafeMcWilliamsOptimystical1: I wanted to be able to do all overland activities on one build so I run 5 darloc brae, 5 tideborn, mythic(shadow queen, wild hunt, pale order, velothi) and 1 night terror on front bar. I run 3 night terror, 3 tide born, 5 darloc brae, and the mythic on back bar for stealth. Vamp for no speed penalty. I can do most overland, and normal content on the dps bar and all syealthy activities on back bar. Shadowy Disguise is my main back bar skill.

5x Night Mother's Embrace, 4x Darloc Brae and 3x Night Terror. All 3 of these sets reduce detection radius and sneak cost.

OrangeMemes737: A niche piece of knowledge I love sharing is that Acceleration and morphs can be cast without breaking stealth and invisibility! So if you want to be at the speed cap, you can. Just slot Race Against Time and cast it every 4 seconds if you can sustain it (or Channeled Acceleration if you cannot, although cast time may be a bit annoying since it slows you down)

BBRocker75: My Thief build is: 5 Adept Rider 5 Darloc Brae Cowl on a Vampire Khajiit Knight Blade stage 4. It gave me all my good stuff from thievering.

drackar: The Dark Stalker passive from Vampire is Night's Silence's better bigger brother. Same elimination of movement speed penalty, with a bonus 50% faster entry into sneak. This leaves you with more options for your build. As example, if you're running on a non Khajiit, it means you can run Night mother's embrace's 5 piece, 3 night terror, and 4 Darloc Brae... The three sets that have the reduction in radius. While this setup removes the option of a mythic, it does get you almost to the same radius. Mostly over-kill even on non Khajiit, but if you're specifically targeting guards, it's a great option.

Vampire has a few other useful bits of kit. The passive "unnatural movement" requires rank 4, so it's a sacrifice, you don't heal and you have social issues with some NPCS (which is fixable with hypnosis) but it reduces the sprint cost by 50%(which is whatever, honestly, the build won't need it), as well as giving you a non-potion based invisibility option for non-nightblades. As well, the active ability "Hypnosis" which is a mesmerize morph, affects guards. So even if you DO get caught, you can stun them momentarily and get away. Massively slept on ability.

My personal thief character is...built for task. Khajiit, nightblade, vampire. I, personally, run the cowl, because having the outlines is very useful for finding victims and avoiding/finding guards, depending on your goals. I run full Darloc Brae as the 5'th piece actually almost doubles your Shadowy Disguise uptime without needing potions. I run a Domihaus shoulder, for the bonus magica and stamina.

Another thing to note? Enable nameplates. Specific NPCS cannot be stolen from and they all have green names, so generally you can just avoid them and go find the next yellow named NPC to rob and murder.

Another option some friends of mine run is SnowTreaders, because guards can't root you.

Also if u main nightblade use the minor expedition from 1e skill in assesionation. Also warden wings make u imume for guard skills

timothyven: Early on I like to make adept rider for the speed. I'm collecting other recommend sets (night terror) now, and training gear at least until lvl 10.

I'm base game only so not sure which ones are available to me other than night terror.

My tip would be to be a vampire and take advantage of the bonus that allows you to quickly disappear and sneak around faster.
