A TERRIBLE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE UPDATE

fodspeed: This just sucks, especially when ESO started to find it's footing. You could tell dev was putting alot of passion in more of their recent work.

jeffbroemmel8003: I think your opening comment was spot on. Good video. Thanks for your perspective.

kazuiyosenpai1888: Why would we buy the tome/season pass now that we see they arent funding the studio anymore

rectifeye6096: I'm cursed. Just started playing ESO, and I came from Destiny.

talionis1396: They obviously don't know theiyr're own clientele. If they did, they'd realize that this sort of maneuver will only cause players to become more hesitant to spend moneys with them.

RonArmentrout: I bet the ceo's are still getting their million dollar bonuses

davery07: Thanks for doing this and I'm just sick over all of it. So many people affected by this with apparently no care for the individuals involved. Just sucks.

drazmod: This is a fucked time to be looking for work too. I had to pivot away from a 25 year qa career.

taxarbloodred1137: From austin here, i work in a tech company near bethesda and zenimax. Their parking lots are empty. A lot more than 50 people got cut

LydiaKrow: This kind of thing needs to be talked about. I feel like we just went through this with ESO. I'm not sure what my ESO plus subscription means anymore if they can't keep the dev team employed.

troybrown1528: I knew when Shitbox brought ESO it was over

chrizlo7246: This neverending bad news with the gaming industry is depressing and heartbreaking

parmenion6298: Feel really sorry for the devs who have lost their jobs - they did not deserve this. Not sure how eso will continue after the devastating losses they have suffered but I hope they find a way. Thanks to all the devs for the fantastic experiences and memories over the 10 years I have been playing the game. If eso closes I am done with Xbox time to find a new home.

blackbarton: Totally agree. Talk about killing the golden goose.

LeedsUnited19: I know this isn’t what gamers like hearing but I would happily go back to paying for chapters instead of free releases if it would help support the game more which would hopefully lead to people not losing any jobs

tomberry3337: Good on you for calling this out, while it affects the game it's the people behind it who make it happen

McYeroc: When u have people in positions for 10 years they get comfortable complacent and lazy. Hopefully this puts a spark in there asses to actually do something with this game.

TernieLaBiscuit: I think they saw it coming and that's why they switched to the Seasons structure.

Also, I hate the seasons structure. I've literally bought everything and still have over 6k tome points. They either need to offer more items, better items, or allow people to regroup their points into books for a 10% fee.

craigh79: I never thought id leave ESO but this year has just made me realise how broken the game is, im level 2740 and have put a massive amount of time into it but finally realise its just not worth the time any more, I'll still watch and support you though Jake

Senneru13: That’s why I never commit to a full year of eso plus. You just never know when they just feel like shutting the whole thing down all of a sudden. Microslop can just die in a corner somewhere.

j.7881: I find it fascinating that people are being caught off guard by this. For anyone who wishes to see what will happen, go research what happened to Bungie and the downfall of Destiny 2. Step one for the "death" of a studio- go 'free', step 2- create "seasons", step 3- axe devs......I could keep going but yeah, go google the fall of Bungie and Destiny franchise

deni.6304: They can always work on their colorful rainbow stuff)

Game industry need to be clean up.

Zero expectation about tes 6)

jillkalter9008: Found this quotation from a person speaking on behalf of Microsoft about this layoff:

"Microsoft has been managing down its workforce in order to pay for its AI investments. By keeping its headcount down they have been able to accelerate revenue growth while maintaining the same margins."

ZygmuntNadratowski: All those people gone, yet Lambert stays, as does the lead PvP dev who thought holding block was a great idea. WTAF.

lazymadness4924: "Game's roadmaps "Will be shifting""

So ESO would be like New World in a year or two

Sad

supertome27: This is terrible, but honestly, did we need Gina Bruno? Less fluff and people catering to streamers, and more developers, so that things like class refreshes don’t take a laughable two years to complete.

wysiwygcanada: The whole game has a bit of a toxic positivity to it.

I suspected it was in trouble when people decided crossplay was needed.
