bejaroo88: I've had the easiest time with Wylder. He's extremely adaptable and his stance breaks are a lifesaver. Not to mention the extra life.
oingulonthethird1908: my favorite thing for solo wylder is on the relics, have the ult leave fire on the ground (which roughly increases the damage of the ult by 50% if they stay in the fire, which they will because of the stance break), and then running a relic that gives ult charge on enemy death. I regularly get to level 10 by the end of night 1 because you can just ult any boss at a camp or castle, kill some trash mobs with grapple, get your ult back right away and ult the next boss and repeat. hes the only character i attempt the troll castle during day 1 as. Also an underratted thing is the fact he starts with a shield with buckler parry, very useful for dealing with crucible knights and the dreaded bell bearing hunter.
lususnaturae881: If you think Raider isn't an S tier solo you aren't playing him right. "Dps, moveset, risky." You're over thinking it. He easily solos every boss. Stop playing dark souls and start unga bunga.
Everything is free. Jump heavy and retaliate boss mechanics until it's dead. You don't need to dodge or memorize anything. Keep jump heavy attacking until stance break.
Mecha
AftermathTravels: Soloing Gnoster as Raider saved my sanity. And that was my first time killing it. Being able to consistently break enemy stances with his skill, ultimate and big weapons feels great. He's my brute force guy.
ExoGhost: Wylder's ult with "fire spread relic" has to be the best ultimate in the game for solo play. Insane damage, AOE, stance breaking
I'm sure 3 Wylders using that ult together would destroy everything too
Hurtdeer: there's two things about executor's deflect that i think get overlooked: 1) the deflect activates when you're changing to and from the stance, and 2) the amount of stuff you can deflect is insane- pretty much anything besides grabs as far as I can tell. Even lightning storms and explosions. I've used it as an option to keep pressure on bosses that do AOE attacks- time the stance switch right to simply deflect the explosion, then switch back and go ham with your main weapon
hdnightowl4664: Named Recluse
Worst for solo play
What did FromSoft mean by this?
RandomDude1w3r: Team Raider
Abhinav-tk1bt: My playstyle has always aligned with how Raider is played, so for me he is the easiest to solo
atlasstoned: raider is pretty amazing at guard counters as well. getting stamina regain when using retaliate also has him have the best stamina Econ, you can just stay endlessly aggressive
mehidk7868: Dp you gave any plans to do a team ranking? Great video as always!
Haf-A-Devon: Executor ult is actually so sad. They bait the fuck out of you for the first 2 nights letting you pop it and just swipe everything away, but you try that shit against a nightlord and you die instantly
rhymenoceros3303: Finished a solo run on Revenant yesterday. I was so happy.
callmera0uf560: Raider deserves more recognition, his skill allows you to straight up tank entire boss mechanics while dealing insane stance damage (with charged version), also there's this loop where you could infinitely stun lock most enemies just by using the skill right after you run out of stamina and by the time the animation is over you will have a full stamina bar.
The totem is amazing as well, It's a free get out of jail card that grants you the following benefits: really good initial damage, 2 seconds of invincibility, a space to safely heal/rebuff, A damage buff aura, and more with additional relics.
Lastly, your criticism of the his unique moveset is quite unreasonable, after using it for a long while I came to the conclusion that it has a unique set of strengths and weakness that makes it just as good if not better than regular heavy weapon animations. for one, while his initial two hits are noticeably slower, the attack chain is longer than the regular one meaning you could stun lock enemies for longer, also his last R1 has an automatic follow up that doesn't consume any stamina.
Robin_da_bank-2004: Raider on 6 is criminal. His ability is probably the best ability in the game. Using his ability to receive almost no damage and easily break the enemies posture is amazing. His ultimate isn't bad either, the damage isn't the best but you get a solid damage buff and the high ground. It's at least way more useful than the duchess ultimate.
Bugthaw: Hard disagree on raider, his unique moveset for colossal weapons is incredible if you know how to use it. Especially if you get upgrades that help you break enemy’s guards more
25Dzone: Your solo videos genuinely make me want to play it - I was trying to hold off but I'm such a sucker for roguelites & this looks so damn fun
Ragnell123: I love ironeye. But there just aren’t that many bows, so it gets stale to play him too much
icerago9848: Mate I gotta ask how much time have you put into raider? Cause in my opinion I think he’s one of the two strongest in the game his abilities are insane and he literally just traded with bosses
apollodivine: Wydler - he’s got good HP, he’s the fastest character to get around with, his special skill is highly effective, and he’s well rounded and can be used with nearly every weapon you pick up
275dpr: Raider just poises through crap and you stance break constantly with colossal weapons. And if you have all your lives it's almost like you don't even have to do anything but swing and spam his skill. They made solo so easy now.
BigHeroSixy: Personally surprised by raider ranking since I went through all of the game solo with it and 1st tried multiple lords. If you have negation, weapon weakness, and relics suited for them basically you just tank through the whole experience. Its super free.
cr34t_: Raider at 6th is crazy. I do agree that most* of the weapon moveset is horrendous, but the light attack chain can actually be very good, the final move is really good and the ones before it aren't too bad. Slap the relic that let's you heal back damage you just took (The one similar to Malenia's great rune) and the one with extra defence and poise on attacks that knock you back (or however it's worded) and you can just poise through most attacks while taking almost no damage and doing really good damage. First time I used this setup I beat Shape of Night while only using 2 wending graces, if my dumbass can do that, then the build and in turn character must be pretty good, even with Ironeye. I essentially always use all my Wending Graces, but it wasn't even close with Raider. Going into this video I was legit thinking about whether I think Ironeye or Raider is the best and that it was a tough call.
Edit: Also his Skill is stupid good, he essentially just get's endure for a little while and then just does a f*ck ton of poise and good damage (If the enemy hit you that is). Relics are also just so good for him, I seriously have a tough time picking relics because there are so many good ones for him.
Edit 2: This is my list with reasons why:
1: Ironeye. Super easy to use, he's basically the Nightreign equivalent to the Blasphemous blade, not to the same extent, but he does make the game a lot easier
2: Raider. As mentioned above, he is really tanky with the right relics and the light attack combo actually outputs very good damage, his character skill is also just amazing and his ULT is pretty decent too, S scaling in strength means you get so much freedom in choosing a weapon.
3: Wylder. Jack of all trades, master of none. He has a really good ULT and decent or good scaling across all his stats so he can have great build variety and pretty much pick and choose weapons as he likes, can't go wrong with Wylder.
4: Duchess: Great for people who panic roll since that is an actually very good strat with her double dodge, which seemingly has continuous I-Frames, her health isn't great, but she has a crazy powerful dodge that uses a stupid small amount of stamina, so she ends up having a lot of survivability. Her arcane isn't great either, but you can still use status effects very effectively, especially if you powerstance daggers. Also, if you get your hands on a Glintstone Kris, you will destroy everything.
5: Guardian. Very tanky and his damage is really not bad, he has a great Halberd moveset (at least when 2 handing, don't use the shield, so don't know about that) and access to a weapon like Dragonscale Halberd, which is really just insane in this game. Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the shield and I drop it first thing in all my runs, the dodge is by far the worst in the game, but decreasing your damage by using a shield and not 2 handing is worse, especially when you consider the long combos in this game that will absolutely drain your stamina if you use a shield.
6: Executor. I really don't put too much weight in him being really good at using status effects, mainly because the Shape of Night, is resistant to every status effect (that I've tried, I.e. Frostbite, Bleed and Poison) and I generally don't find it to be much quicker to use status effects with him compared to other characters. Besides that, his skill is close to useless, the Cursed Katana just sucks, bad damage, no status effects to make up for the damage, the L2 is meh at best and you have to walk very slowly. I don't agree that his ULT is the best in the game, the damage is good, but in my experience it takes a lot longer to charge than some others and you have a massive hitbox, so while you do get double health, you also end up taking pretty much all attacks a boss does, I find that I often get less survivability in the ULT than outside of it and it's really not much better than something like Wylder's ULT. In my eyes, the only thing he does better than Wylder is that status effects get procked slightly quicker.
No clue: Revenant and Recluse. I don't play spell caster, never really enjoyed all the micro-managing you end up doing to switch spells and it feels like it's only worse in Nightreign with having to be aware of FP since there's no blue flask, each staff/seal only having 2 spells and also the abilities. It all just feels like a chore to me and I do dread having to play these for 100% completion. This is all to say, I have played two games of Recluse during the network test and one as Revenant after I unlocked her, so I'm by no means qualified to talk about these, the other characters I've beaten the Shape of Night with multiple times solo, so I feel comfortable talking about them.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk :D
jollytemplar3670: Guardian higher than the raider
MasterworkLeathercraft: I've been grinding out solo runs with Rev for half a week; only able to play one or two runs a day. I took a break last night to do a run with Ironeye and it was like taking a weighted vest. I could take hits, didn't have to manage FP, did great damage, and my drops were better.
grtdgrtcvbn: just use powerstance-jumpattacks with raider to get stancebreaks and crits or use fast weapons with bloodborne rune and facetank bossmechanics with his skill (its bascially unlimited wylder passives with heavy stancedamage on top)
