Edit: There is cut content of an NPC wearing the Ruler's Set, asking you to kill the Leyndell King after getting to meet him, he's so disgusted he asks the Tarnished to go murder their King, that's how despised the omen are in lore.

frogfrog_4: My theory regarding Mohg / Morgott clones (and Godfrey's clone):

Mohg and Morgott used the same type of magic, the difference is Morgott used a vessel, and Mohg just left a spirit, which slightly changes how the magic works (kinda like playing on PC with keyboard or controller, it's still a PC, just different way of controlling it). Morgott outside the capital takes over a body of a commoner enemy, and we can assume he takes over another commoner in Stormveil too, as there's Commoner's Simple Garb right next to where Margit stands in the cutscene in Stormveil. That's why Margit can bleed and talk (there's a body that will bleed and make sounds) but sewer Mohg can't. They probably wouldn't trust having anyone else (that could be Mohg's vessel) near the Three Fingers, which is why Mohg left just a spirit there. Margit would have a different name as he shows himself publically, and sewer Mohg doesn't.

As for Goldfrey, I found a comment on Fextralife pointing out some weird things about him: his axe isn't broken like Godfrey's real axe is, and that he's the only golden spirit in the game. Goldfrey's axe being in one piece would suggest that this is an old depiction of him, from when he served the Golden Order. He is the same color as Morgott's holy weapons, which are obviously Golden Order's power. Goldfrey can't bleed or talk, just like sewer Mohg, and there's no vessel for him in the boss room, just like with sewer Mohg. The only source of the Goldfrey spirit that I can think of would be Morgott then, as it surely isn't Godfrey who left it there (he's just some warrior, not occult magic Omen), so it would be Morgott adding another layer of protection with the memory of his father (Morgott would only remember Godfrey from the past, as after that Godfrey left the lands between, which is why the axe would not be up-to-date).

Now Godefroy is just cheap bullshit. Tbh it all might be, but this theory at least makes some sense, Godefroy is just bad world building.
